Ooof! That was a workout. I haven’t done headstand for a while, so I was a little anxious, but you lead even the most challenging poses with such care that I completely trusted what you were doing. I will have to do this class a couple more times before I can nail it with confidence, though! Thank you again for these amazing classes. I’m so glad I found Two Birds. ❤

Finally, Headstand! I knew it'd come, this greatest of Asana! Loved your way of leading us there, your precision is unmatched, -thank you so much for this lesson, thank you! (If you allow, quite some time ago we saw a film on Yoga, & I believe it was Iyengar himself advising a student to actively press down the wrists when the weight comes onto the lower arms, getting up in Headstand, for the instability one may experience begins here, nearly always they lift away from the floor in the beginning. This detail in alignment helped me tremedously when learning Shirsasana, it really did.)

Yay! Goodness, I’m glad my cues aligned with the master :-) it’s so true with everything we have in contact with the mat. Press down to rise up. Thanks so much Markus 🙏

Wonderful series! I love the reminder not to wear shoulders for earrings. The word should is in shoulders. The natural response from the body is to raise shoulders to ears when wondering what to do. I have changed to could (coulders) thank You for all the little pearls of wisdom you share with us❣️✨
@TwoBirdsYoga2 жыл бұрын
Haha, yes it is Maria :-) love it. Gravity upside down sends the shoulders that way anyway. Glad the earrings cue resonated x 🙏

Well, so.... Thank you. It's been a few years since I last attempted headstand. Your drills today were the best I've seen online so far. I was able to at least let my feet touch the wall with my knees bent. Also, the flow itself was easeful. I definitely needed all the shoulder work. I'll probably be returning to the last 20 minutes just so I can do all the drills again. Thank you. I'll look forward to starting your morning practice series next week.
@TwoBirdsYoga2 жыл бұрын
Oh fantastic Krystle! Great to hear :-) I did quite a bit of research on this one. I learnt some new cues myself. The headstand prep is strong but so worthwhile. Makes full headstand feel a lot lighter and more easeful when you have the strength. It’s quite diagnostic x 🙏

Thank you Fiona for this class. I feel that it can help me evolve: open my shoulders and move forward on my fears. I'm too scared to do an headstand inversion or even with my feet on the wall; but I feel that with this class I can move forward.

Thank you so much Kris. Arhh yes, lovely when our practice heightens our awareness of things. Despite its slower pace, it’s quite strong for the upper body. I found that too 🙏

THANK YOU. It just shows, that even after 10+ years of doing yoga I’m still learning. There was much to pick up in this session including the 80:20 rule (which I don’t think I’d heard of before) and the L-shaped drill for headstand. I’ve only ever used this for handstand practice, but this was really useful as a measure of the strength needed. I’ve always felt that there was too much on the top of my head! Brilliant, as always and the use of two camera angles was helpful too. Jon
@TwoBirdsYoga2 жыл бұрын
Awesome Jon! Thank you. I did lots of research. Oftentimes in yoga, recommendations change over time. It was useful to me too. And I’d forgotten how strong the L shape was! The 80/20 rule varies according to your anatomy?! Longer/ shorter arms, neck etc. I like the nugget of finding the sweet spot on your head. That was new for me. The other version of knotting your hands into a fist which I didn’t show is meant to give you more access to power and support of your upper arms but it’s unsteady for me. There’s always so many opinions out there. Such a benefit to have access to them. I’m still learning too 🙏

Awwww how beautifully you’ve sequenced this practice to ensure all the essential muscles are adequately warmed up and prepped leading to headstand ☺️ thank you for all the care you’ve towards your practitioners 🙏 This was a bitter sweet flow to me ; during Covid lockdown I achieved headstand after tons of practice, patience and umpteen number of falls 😅 however due to a shoulder injury I’ve consciously stopped practicing headstands, and had to wrap up the practice with a ‘letting go’ mindset 😔! Thank you for letting me pour out and as always much much love and gratitude , zillions of blessings to you 🙏👍

It’s ok to let go. I personally don’t practice headstand anymore. We’re upside down in so many postures during class, that I feel it’s enough. All the prep in this class is all very beneficial for strengthening your shoulders so still so worthwhile. Thanks once again for your very kind and thoughtful message. Have a beautiful weekend ahead my friend x ❤️🙏

Hopefully weaving some of the content from the last few series. Hopefully that appeals :-) thanks again for your support 🙏❤️

@@TwoBirdsYoga Thank you, yes, out & about teaching, longterm care unit. Isn't it fascinating how a single complex Asana contains all yoga, in its richness of learning, -as you spoke about getting compact/rolling inward as when we do to Headstand, it informed my Duck, which I then could hold for full five breaths, because I could approach it as I do Headstand. All learning from you!🙏🏻
@TwoBirdsYoga2 жыл бұрын
It is fascinating, I agree. And brilliant as you are so inquisitive and see the nuance and common denominators 😊🙏

@@TwoBirdsYoga Your students hear your voice then in these moments, as my knees didn't "want to go up" my upper arms in Duck, e.g., it was your "get compact, round fully inwards" or so, had me grinning widely, as my trunk thought of "go up into Headstand", just in Lotus, trying to get up Dolphin arms...worked nicely!
