First of all My name is Sachin.S From Idukki (Dist) Vandiperiyar who is living near the Mullaperiyar within the radius of 6.5 km. In the case of Mullaperiyar Dam its a masonry gravity dam Which is been build on the princple of centre of gravity, made on Heavy rock blocks with the bonding mixture know as surki - (non other than mixture of calium carbonate and sand heated and treated to a certain propotion to make the bonding compound ). No one can give 100% guarantee that the dam will not broke. Its because of its pathetic situation of the structure with cracks and Leakages present at current stage and also this was noticed seriously from the year 2013. And also there are a lots of factors that affects the lifespan of a dam like earthquakes at higher scale, sliding of underneath rocks and sediments, shape shifting of soil layer structures, chemical changes in climate condtions, corrosion of the dam itself due to the dam made material calium carbonate react with the water stored inside the dam and lot more. First of all My name is Sachin.S From Idukki (Dist) Vandiperiyar who is living near the Mullaperiyar within the radius of 6.5 km. In the case of Mullaperiyar Dam its a masonry gravity dam Which is been build on the princple of centre of gravity, made on Heavy rock blocks with the bonding mixture know as surki - (non other than mixture of calium carbonate and sand heated and treated to a certain propotion to make the bonding compound ). No one can give 100% guarantee that the dam will not broke. Its because of its pathetic situation of the structure with cracks and Leakages present at current stage and also this was noticed seriously from the year 2013. And also there are a lots of factors that affects the lifespan of a dam like earthquakes at higher scale, sliding of underneath rocks and sediments, shape shifting of soil layer structures, chemical changes in climate condtions, corrosion of the dam itself due to the dam made material calium carbonate react with the water stored inside the dam and lot more. Note: Modern concrete mixture cannot be plasterd or jet sprayed over the surki mixture dam, both compounds are entirely different in there compostion and strength even though Cable Anchoring is done to mullaperiyar dam this modern method of strengthing cannot assure the safety to the dam ' cos It mess up with the engineering structural construction design ideology with the old and new, after all its just a Maintance done . And If the dam is exploded It is 37 times higher with a Potential Engery compared to an atom bomb dropped in hiroshima". സർ, എന്റെ ഒരു opinion പറഞ്ഞോട്ടെ.ഇടുക്കി ഡാമും ചെറുതോണി ഡാമും തമ്മിൽ ഏകദേശം എട്ട് കിലോമീറ്റർ distance അല്ലെ ഉള്ളു .മുല്ലപെരിയാർ maintance- ൽ തമിഴ്നാട് വിസമ്മതിക്കുന്നതിന്റെ അടിസ്ഥാന കാരണം അവർക്ക് പ്രയോഗികമായ വെള്ളം ലഭിക്കില്ല എന്നത് കൊണ്ടായിരിക്കും.. മുല്ലപ്പെരിയാർ വഴി തമിഴ് നാട്ടിലേക്കു കടത്തിവിടുന്ന അത്രയും അളവ് വെള്ളം ഇടുക്കി, ചെറുതോണി അണക്കെട്ടിൽ നിന്നും നിശ്ചിത കാലയളവിലേക് തമിഴ് നാട്ടിലേക്ക് എത്തിച്ചൂടെ. അതിനൊരു emergency petition courtil file ചെയ്ത് aproval കിട്ടിയാൽ അത് വഴി മുല്ലപെരിയാറിലെ വെള്ളം കുറേശ്ശേ ഒഴുക്കി കളയുകയും, നദിയുടെ ഗതി മാറ്റി നിലവിലെ ഡാം പുതുക്കി പണിയുകയും ചെയ്തൂടെ....പ്രാവർത്തികമാകുന്ന കാര്യമാണോ എന്ന് അറിയില്ല.ഏതെങ്കിലും രീതിയിൽ govt ഇതിൽ അടിയന്തിരമായി ഇടപെടേണ്ട സമയം കഴിഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു .🙏

First of all My name is Sachin.S From Idukki (Dist) Vandiperiyar who is living near the Mullaperiyar within the radius of 6.5 km. In the case of Mullaperiyar Dam its a masonry gravity dam Which is been build on the princple of centre of gravity, made on Heavy rock blocks with the bonding mixture know as surki - (non other than mixture of calium carbonate and sand heated and treated to a certain propotion to make the bonding compound ). No one can give 100% guarantee that the dam will not broke. Its because of its pathetic situation of the structure with cracks and Leakages present at current stage and also this was noticed seriously from the year 2013. And also there are a lots of factors that affects the lifespan of a dam like earthquakes at higher scale, sliding of underneath rocks and sediments, shape shifting of soil layer structures, chemical changes in climate condtions, corrosion of the dam itself due to the dam made material calium carbonate react with the water stored inside the dam and lot more. ശെരിയാണ്. മുല്ലപ്പെരിയാർ ഡാമിൽ ഉള്ള വെള്ളം മുഴുവൻ ഇടുക്കി ഡാമിൽ ഉൾക്കൊള്ളിക്കാൻ സാധിക്കും. മുല്ലപ്പെരിയാറിൽ ഉള്ള വെള്ളം ഉൾക്കൊള്ളാനുള്ള ശേഷി ഇടുക്കി ഡാമിനുണ്ട്. എല്ലാവരും ഓർത്തോണ്ടിരിക്കുന്നത് മുല്ലപ്പെരിയാറിൽ ഉള്ള വെള്ളം പതുക്കെ വന്ന് ഇടുക്കി ഡാമിൽ വന്നുചേരും എന്നാണ്. പക്ഷേ.... അതല്ല Reality.... ഇപ്പോൾ മുല്ലപ്പെരിയാർ ഡാമിൽ 131 അടി വെള്ളം ഉണ്ട്. അതായത് 40 മീറ്റർ വെള്ളം. ഒരു ക്രിക്കറ്റ് പിച്ച് 20.12 മീറ്റർ ആണ്. അപ്പോൾ മുല്ലപ്പെരിയാർ ഡാമിലെ ഇപ്പോഴത്തെ വെള്ളം 2 ക്രിക്കറ്റ് പിച്ചിൻ്റെ അത്രയും പൊക്കത്തിൽ ഉണ്ട്. മുല്ലപ്പെരിയാർ ഡാം പൊട്ടിയാൽ ഈ 40 മീറ്റർ വെള്ളമാണ് അതേപടി ഒഴുകിവരുന്നത്. ആ കൂടെ ഡാം പണിതപ്പോൾ മുതൽ ഡാമിൽ അടിഞ്ഞുകൂടിയ ചെളിയും അഴുക്കും ഒഴുകി വരുന്ന ഭാഗത്തെ മണ്ണും കൂറ്റൻ പാറക്കല്ലുകളും മരങ്ങളും ഉൾപ്പെടെയാണ് ഒഴുകി വരുന്നത്. അതും നിരപ്പായ പ്രദേശത്തുകൂടിയല്ല ഒഴുകിവരുന്നത്. മുല്ലപ്പെരിയാറിൽ നിന്നും ഒഴുകിവരുന്ന വെള്ളം ചെങ്കുത്തായ ഇറക്കത്തിൽ കൂടെയാണ് ഒഴുകി വരുന്നത്. അപ്പോൾ ആ വെള്ളത്തിൻ്റെ സ്പീഡ് മണിക്കൂറിൽ 500 കിലോമീറ്റർ എങ്കിലും കാണും. അപ്പോൾ അതിൻറെ പവർ നിങ്ങൾ ഒന്ന് സങ്കൽപ്പിച്ചു നോക്കൂ. ഇടുക്കി ഡാമിൽ ആ വെള്ളം വന്ന് പതിക്കുമ്പോൾ ഇടുക്കി ഡാമിന് അതു താങ്ങാൻ കഴിയില്ല. അഥവാ ഇടുക്കി ഡാം താങ്ങിയാൽ പോലും കുളമാവ് ഡാമോ ചെറുതോണി ഡാമോ അതു താങ്ങില്ല. കാരണം മുല്ലപ്പെരിയാർ ഡാമിൽ നിന്നുള്ള അതി ശക്തമായ 40 മീറ്റർ ഉയരത്തിലുള്ള, 500 കിലോമീറ്റർ സ്പീഡിലുള്ള വെള്ളം ഒഴുക്ക് തുടർച്ചയായി 2 മണിക്കൂറെങ്കിലും നീണ്ടു നിൽക്കും.. ശക്തമായ 40 മീറ്റർ പൊക്കത്തിലും 500 കിലോമീറ്റർ സ്പീഡിലും ഉള്ള ഈ വെള്ളത്തിൻ്റെ തള്ളൽ ലോകത്തിലുള്ള ഒരു ഡാമിനും തടഞ്ഞു നിർത്താൻ സാധിക്കില്ല. വയനാട്ടിൽ ഉണ്ടായ ഉരുൾ പൊട്ടലിൻ്റെ സ്പീഡ് മണിക്കൂറിൽ 500 കിലോമീറ്റർ എന്നാണ് TV വർത്തകളിൽ പറഞ്ഞത്. എന്തായാലും മുല്ലപ്പെരിയാർ പൊട്ടിയാൽ അതിനേക്കാൾ സ്പീഡ് ഉണ്ടായിരിക്കുമല്ലോ.. ഏറ്റവും കുറഞ്ഞത് 500 കിലോമീറ്റർ സ്പീഡ് ഉണ്ടായിരിക്കും. 750 കിലോമീറ്റർ സ്പീഡ് ഉണ്ടായാലും അത്ഭുതപ്പെടാൻ ഒന്നുമില്ല .. 40 മീറ്റർ പൊക്കത്തിൽ ചെളിയും കൂറ്റൻ പാറക്കല്ലുകളും മരങ്ങളും ആയി 500 കിലോമീറ്റർ സ്പീഡിൽ അതിശക്തമായി വരുന്ന വെള്ളം ഇരുമ്പ് കൊണ്ട് ഉണ്ടാക്കിയ ഡാമിനെ പോലും തകർത്ത് ദൂരെ എറിയും. ഈ അതിശക്തമായ വെള്ളം ഒഴുക്ക് തുടർച്ചയായി 2 മണിക്കൂർ എങ്കിലും ഇടുക്കി ഡാമിലേക്ക് ഉണ്ടായിരിക്കും. ലോകത്തുള്ള ഒരു ഡാമിനും ഈ ശക്തിയെ തടുക്കാൻ സാധിക്കില്ല. ഇനി നിങ്ങൾ തീരുമാനിച്ചോളൂ. മുല്ലപ്പെരിയാർ ഇനിയും തുടരണമോ എന്ന് .. ശക്തമായ ജനങ്ങളുടെ എതിർപ്പുകൾ തുടങ്ങേണ്ടത്, തുടരേണ്ടത് 40 ലക്ഷം ജനങ്ങളുടെ സംരക്ഷണത്തിന് ആവശ്യമാണ്. ഉണരൂ ജനങ്ങളേ ഉണരൂ.. ശക്തമായ പ്രക്ഷോഭം ഒരു നിമിഷം പോലും നഷ്ടപ്പെടാതെ തുടങ്ങൂ..

മുല്ലപ്പെരിയാർ ഡാം തകർന്നാൽ നമ്മുടെ ഇടുക്കി ഡാമിന് അത് ചെറുത്തു നിൽക്കാനാകുമായിരുന്നു... പക്ഷേ ഇന്നത്തെ നിലയ്ക്ക് അതിന് സാധ്യതയില്ല എന്ന സത്യമാണ് നമ്മൾ മലയാളികൾ ആദ്യം മനസ്സിലാക്കേണ്ടതും ബോധ്യപ്പെടേണ്ടതും ആയ വസ്തുത. കാരണം .. ഇടുക്കി റിസർവ്വോ യ ർ വ്യത്യസ്തസ്ഥലങ്ങളിലായിട്ടുള്ള 3 ഡാമുകൾ ചേർന്ന് ഉള്ളതാണ്.. അതിൽ തന്നെ ഷട്ടർതുറക്കാനും വെള്ളം നിയന്ത്രിത രീതിയിൽ ഒഴുക്കിക്കളയാനും കഴിയുന്ന ഏക ഡാമാണ് ചെറുതോണി ഡാം.എന്നാൽ ആർച്ച് ഡാം., കുളമാവ് ഡാം എന്നിവ പരിപൂർണ്ണമായി സ്ഥിരമായി കെട്ടി അടച്ചവയാണ് അവ തുറക്കാൻ സാധ്യമല്ല.. ആർച്ച് ഡാമിൻ്റെ പ്രത്യേക ഘടന മൂലം അതിൻ്റെ ശക്തിയിലും ബലത്തിലും നമുക്ക് അൽപമെങ്കിലും വിശ്വസിക്കാം എന്നാൽ പക്ഷേ .... കുളമാവിൽ ഉള്ളത് ഒരു സാധാരണ മണ്ണ് റോഡ് മാത്രമാണ്... കേവലം ശക്തമായ ഒരു മഴയിൽ വെള്ളം റോഡിലേയ്ക്ക് കവിഞ്ഞ് ഒഴുകാനിടവന്നാൽ പോലും നിസ്സാരമായി ഒലിച്ച് പോകാനാവുന്ന മണ്ണ് മാത്രമാണ് അവിടെ വെള്ളത്തെ തടഞ്ഞ് നിർത്തുന്നത്.ഈ സാഹചര്യത്തിൽ മുല്ലപ്പെരിയാർ പോലെ ഒരു ഡാം തകർന്നു വരുന്ന അസാധ്യ ശക്തിയുള്ള ഉരുൾപൊട്ടലിനു സമാനമായ കുത്തൊഴുക്ക് നിശ്ചയമായും കുളമാവ് ഡാമിനെ തകർത്ത് എറിയും. കൂടാതെ ചെറുതോണി ഡാമിൻ്റെ ഷട്ടറുകൾ പോലും ഇടിച്ചു തകർക്കാനാവും വിധത്തിലായിരിക്കാം ഡാം പൊട്ടി വരുന്ന മഹാപ്രവാഹത്തിൻ്റെ ഒഴുക്ക്. അതു കൊണ്ട് എത്രയും വേഗം കുളമാവ് ഡാം ശക്തിമത്തായ വിധം നിർമ്മിച്ച് ഇടുക്കി ഡാമിനെ സുരക്ഷിതമാക്കുകയാണ് ഇപ്പോൾ നമുക്ക് ചെയ്യാവുന്ന ഏറ്റവും പ്രായോഗികമായ പോംവഴി.

At the time it was built , the mullaperiyar dam was said to last for 50 years. It has been 129 years now and structural flaws have started to be visible , which means its capacity is about to reach the maximum. Last year the water inside had reached 132 ft where the total capacity is 142 ft. This should be taken into consideration by the government. A new dam should be built and decommission of the dam should be started as soon as possible. We have already witnessed the tragedy of wayanad and more like this should not happen in Kerala. Stop listening to the "so- called" engineers of Tamil Nadu who have incredible belief in the strength of the dam and start an action very soon.
