@@RankinMsP As a domestic violence advocate you would be amazed at how many women I worked with who had their first child as a teen and when the mention the age of their abuser, and I am doing the math for the DOB of the child I am like WTF. It’s such a common form of abuse. I don’t know how this isn’t flagged, when it’s documented on the birth certificate. Prosectution of statutory rape is pretty much completely left to the parents of the child/teen. So those vulnerable kids who come from abusive homes, parents who are addicted to substances, parents who may have sexually abused them as well, fundamentalist religions who want to sweep this under the rug are just left out to dry.

It's true but our society keeps wanting to pretend that boogeymen are the child predators when the truth is, children are being hurt by their families. We (in Western societies) are weirdly hesitant to give children more support, more rights, and more security.

When I was molested, I was 4.5 yrs.,old. After I told my mom,she victimized me again, she had a belt. As she ran a bath, she told me. Tell me everything he did to you. She never told my dad. This was in around 67,68. I struggle with obesity too. Not on this level. It impacted my life. I became very paranoid of men. Many women that are obese, have been molested. I'm now divorced. it's not generational. No getting to over 600 pds. All the trauma she went thru attributed to her weight gain over the years. Although Desiree is very overweight, she is clearly not lazy, or food addicted. I'm sure taking care of her mom is taking it's toll though. Desiree will prob maintain that weight with how she lives, but not gain. I do hope she loses weight and also gets healthier. Oh, and yes a lot of times, when there is a parent family member overweight, the kids tend to follow suit. Not on purpose, but it just ends up being that way bcuz they end up eating the same food.

It's not something inherited, it's just simply eating more calories than you're burning. If you burn more calories than you put in, no matter who your parents are, you will lose weight. The reasons most kids end up like their parents is simply cause they grow up in the same household eating the same things.

I disagree with "she lets herself eat out of control". She grew up with this mother. If you never learn how to properly handle food and eating, why should you suddenly have the enlightenment as a kid and eat healthy? She simply doesn't know better, because there is no healthy role model for her to look up to. She has her mother and even though she sees what her mother looks like, she has no idea how to do if differently. I am pretty sure Desiree has other wishes then to end up like her mother.

As soon as I was better and able to exercise I swapped all soda and fruit juice for water I started to eat 3 meals a day at set times and I walked 10,000 steps a day (several times I was out at 23:00 walking around the block to get my 10,000 steps) and I hit the gym 4 times a week and it took me 15 month to lose 125lb and I’ve been the same weight give or take a couple of pound for 30 years. I could have lost the weight faster but I preferred going down the more exercise and not starving myself and I was still eating 2000 calories a day so still 500 below a man recommended calorie intake.

I remember watching her episode, she's a horrible person and treats her daughter like crap. Instead of worrying about her husband having to help her, she should be thankful for her daughters help. Seems like she cares more about men than her children, unfortunately her daughter has to pay the price. She might have had a bad childhood, but she can either use that as a excuse to keep eating and behaving the way she does, or get help and stop letting it take over her life. From what I remember, she wanted to lose weight but didn't want to actually do anything about it herself and acted like a child.

She won't let her husband cross over into a caretaker out of care for him but she will let her daughter (who has her own family) take care of her 24/7??? She should hire a caregiver then because it's not her daughters job. However I can relate to how her childhood led to her food issues because my mom (although I love her dearly) never defended me or reported that I was sexually abused more than once as a child. I blocked it all out for many years. Now I wonder why she never helped me.. so I get how she feels.

The question I always have for these shows is who works? Is ANYONE working outside the home? Are they afraid to work outside the home? Work is definitely work but it also can be therapeutic and genuinely could help people feel better about their lives and themselves as a person. If you believe all you can do is be someone’s wife or caregiver, that becomes a trap.

If she cares so much about being “bed grandma” & how her granddaughter sees her, maybe she should give a bit of an effort to change her situation. Instead she chooses to be a toxic drag on the whole family. 🤔💀😳😭 260lbs at 13. Dating a 27 year old man and had a baby with him who she gave for adoption. Why did no one bat an eye? What!? Why was he not investigated? Everyone around her drinks because they can’t stand what she’s made their lives into.
