6k cals == 144 McNuggs. I'm not sure why this math wasn't heavily prominent within this video. Glad the tendon is feeling a bit better. 👌

Have you tried the Achilles treatment that Meg from believe in the run recommends? Voltaren and arnica gel wrapped in Saran Wrap with a compression sock each night. Seemed to help me anecdotally with a foot injury I had last month.

Hi folks. I'm wondering could I get some input from someone who knows a bit about this. So, long story short, say I go for a cycle and do lets say 4hrs, at my weight I burn whatever amount of calories. It'll say on garmin/strava. I know they're not absolutely spot on with cals burned. Then, later that day say I go for a run. Again, calories burned is logged. At the end of the day, after the 2 sessions, to get a full calorie burn, can/should I also add in 2000 cals that my body burns from being simply alive, as in my basil metabolic rate. The calories my body burns each day regardless of what I do, which for my weight, is 1900. Can I add these to the calories burned during the bike and the run ?? Thanks for all help.

You should send some high def underwater swim footage to Effortless Swimming for analysis. I'm assuming he would note and suggest possible fixes as to why your kick "splays" pretty markedly as you rotate. It adds a ton of drag. Elite swimmers seem to keep their kicks in a small box and in tight alignment with their upper body line
@archmdz
@archmdz Жыл бұрын
I noticed this too. It looks (and feels) like I use the non-kicking leg as a counterbalance when I 1-beat kick which is probably unnecessary and as you noted looks like a big ole scissor kick. I already started trying to correct this as soon as I saw the footage so maybe in the next vid it won’t be as drastic and hopefully saves some energy too.

What is your Achilles injury? I have Achilles tendinitis for the past 4 weeks and missing the last few meets of my outdoor season. Would you say swimming or cycling is better cross training? I’ve even cycling 4 days a week and swimming 1-2 a week
@antonioescallon173
@antonioescallon173 Жыл бұрын
Do you feel any pain in your achilles after either one of the exercises? Does pushing against the wall when you're swimming hurt? Honestly either way at this point I'm guessing you can't make it back in time for state competitions, so maybe taking some time off would be best? Just so that you can build back up during the summer
@awxuh
@awxuh Жыл бұрын
@@antonioescallon173 Yeah I’ve sadly realized I won’t be recovered in time for states so just taking this time to recover and during the summer I’ll definitely train hard and smart to be ready for cross
@archmdz
@archmdz Жыл бұрын
In general I think cycling translates over to running better than swimming but cycling bothered my achilles so even my bike volume was severely limited for a few weeks while I was recovering.
@lucasswift3881
@lucasswift3881 Жыл бұрын
I got a bad overuse achilles injury last year. Was only getting so much better with rest, stretching, and reduced volume. Went away completely on a weekend bike tour at largely very easy intensity. Since then I've tried to do long recovery rides in response to overuse, and it really helps. Hard to given only so many hours in the week to train, but works pretty well.

How is Seattle for triathlon training/racing? Debating on moving there or Denver later this year.
@archmdz
@archmdz Жыл бұрын
Great city for running, lots of open water, biking is really good once youre outside the city and there’s a good bike path running the length of Seattle to get in and out. Good triathlon community and lots of races in the PNW. Never trained in Denver so I can’t say how it compares but Boulder is among the best triathlon training locations in the US.

That is probably the reason why he does it. You basically avoid injuries by heating it before running, its like warming it up, same thing that you would do in first 10 minutes of running

I recently (~2mo ago) started getting in the weight room 2x a week for a short (~40min) full body weight session. The upper body muscle is more a result of swimming more than usual during the achilles injury than the lifting if I had to guess, as the lifting started too recently

@@HashBrownDoyler I don’t think he’s a sellout. He’s trying to make a living, have some respect. My question wasn’t regarding the value in the sponsorship. I do think there’s research to suggest an additive benefit to ketones with carbs during exercise. I was simply asking if anyone knew whether the ketones would train your body to burn far better, because I’m too lazy to look it up.
