Love your videos very informative. How far away from the wall do you usually do the install? Is this house 4 inches away. When you put in a 3 way I seen videos that the lights where you put the 3 way don’t synchronize properly is this true. I wanted to put a 3 way at the beginning of my lights and have them go in separate directions due to power supply plug outlet in my garage. Govee said you can’t.

Maybe they thought you meant splitting the power supply. Idk, however, you can clearly split at the beginning of your first strand and go whatever direction you want. You just can’t have more lights than the kit in question is made for. Max 120 lights on pro 200 for instance.

With the different power supplies can you have one power supply with lights going right and the other going left around the house and if so will they all Cync in the same direction

All three. There is still roughly 600 ft of wire so to maintain voltage you need them all.

@@nickfasano7875 4” from the face is the std I go by. However, the closer…the smaller the signature “bell” look is. The farther the bigger they are and too far you will just get a color glow look.

You cant connect more than 120 lights per power supply/ controller. That is how many lights are in a 200ft kit. You need multiply power supplies/ kits. However, you can group all your kits together in the app to sync. Hope that helps!

What did you have to do regarding power to run 600ft? With the 200ft strands you have to install an LED driver after strand 5. Did you install 3 LED drivers on this and if so, where at?

@@tommiwan this install was before drivers were required. The initial pros didn’t have them last October. If I remember right, two power supplies in the upstairs attic ran through the soffit and the third one ran through the soffit over the garage and drilled through moisture barrier/ insulation in to upstairs game room for placement there. There was partial attic over the garage, however customer didn’t want to put controller/ power supply there as it had no ladder access.

@@Mrblaaboyblaa pvc hard material. Discoloration hasn’t been an issue under the eaves where it doesn’t get constant direct sunlight. Also, they are paintable.

That is correct. This home was the inspiration for govpermtrack. The look of the track is similar. However way less quality as it is a std vinyl raceway from Amazon that you would use for interior cables like your hdmi cable. You can notice in the video how we had to put clips inside and though it was all we had at the time… it’s a quite flimsy material and much harder to work with than the solid govpermtrack we have now.

Putting the Y splitter in doesn't affect how the strands function in relation to each other?

The two split offs will mirror each other and light at the same time if that makes sense. For instance if you are continuing a run straight and the other splits offs down, up or left etc.... the split off will light at the same time as the continuation.

I’m so confused. Inca have 290 feet goveee pros installed for $1000, or trimlight $4500… trimlights are lifetime warrantie, Govee only a year or two? Any advice ?

Govee has a three year mfg warranty. Trimlight is installed in a “channel” near your facia and look like commercial, or Vegas lights in my opinion. Govee gives you a dome effect I think suits the residential look. That is my opinion on looks. They are both going to give you the year round led lighting with app control. Govee Pro I believe will have similar longevity, but the jury is out as it’s a newer product. It really comes down to the quality of your installer. Govee being new and sold direct to consumer doesn’t demand the high cost that distributor brands do and Govee installers lack formal training as there is no network for that. The effort to install correctly is still about the same. The problem is that govee markets as a DIY product. If you just stick it up then sure. However, a custom lasting quality install is what you are really paying for with outdoor permanent lighting. Both lights cost under a dollar each to produce in china. Because govee is marketed as diy many handymen, landscapers and the like have jumped on board to capitalize as climbing 30 foot ladder, wiring correctly and offering quality craftsmanship takes skill most homeowner don’t have the time for. Installers only charging 1000 are misled on ease and often provide poor craftsmanship. Govees price has attracted a huge consumer base, yet quality install methods lack. You also don’t hear as many complaints on trimlight and the like because you have “professional” installers doing installs and repairs. In summary, you get what you pay for on the install like anything. All the led technology is about the same. I would base my decision on what look I like the best and find a vetted installer if you like the govee look the best. 🤷‍♂️

Have you compared other lighting system installs like trimlight, jellyfish and oelo that all use a channel and create a professional permanent look? Even with labor install cost you will find the cost is about half of those others when going with govee. The tracks are not priced that way for greed, and I am working to reduce costs. However, to make it viable that’s that it needs to cost. Thank you for your comment.
