Finally someone with some damn sense when it comes to shampoo🙌🏾. How can people expect products to properly absorb into the hair cuticle with layers of product buildup coating the hair?! I don't understand why a lot of these natural hair gurus are setting people up for failure?! Shampooing is absolutely necessary for a healthy scalp & healthier hair. Yeah I can admit I don't like the temporary feeling that shampoo leaves behind but I always condition or deep condition afterwards. I'm natural & have been natural my whole life. My hair is currently tailbone length when stretched & I believe that to be because I consistently cleanse & deep condition my hair every week. Thank you for your honesty & for informing people out there because shampoos do serve a purpose & people shouldn't be afraid of them. Oh & by the way I love you & your videos ♥️

@@brandiemckenzie8029IMHO a good clarifying shampoo will have few to no conditioning ingredients. These include things like >Silicones >Oils >Polyquaterniums >Stearamidopropyl Dimethylamine >Hydroxyethyl Methylcellylose >Starches > PPG-9 or other PPGs Having a couple is fine, but more than 4 and I would not consider it clarifying, just cleansing. Sulfate vs. Sulfate Free also doesn't really matter, because Sulfate Free products are almost always made with Sodium C14-16 Olefin Sulfonate, which is just as good at degreasing as the most commonly used Sulfates. I actually recommend avoiding both Sodium Lauryl Sulfate and Sodium C14-16 Olefin Sulfonate and looking for ones that just have Sodium Laureth Sulfate because it is milder than those other two surfactants without needing a conditioning agent to offset its harshness, which would defeat the purpose. As for recommendations, Suave Daily Clarifying gets thrown around a lot and it's alright. Paul Mitchell Shampoo Two also seems good, but it has too many conditioning ingredients for me to try it. I liked IC Fantasia Tea Tree Naturals Shampoo in the green bottle. My all-time favorite was Neutrogena Anti-Residue, which was discontinued last year. If you live near an Albertsons, you can try Signature Care Clarifying Shampoo, which is a direct ripoff of Neutrogena's and all I have left 😢

That shampoo running down the strands was started by some of these blogs. It's not the soap or surfactant that cleanses, it's the friction that removes the dirt. Braelynn Blue Yeah I never understood that logic either; it's just like saying to wash your face & let the soap go down to wash the rest of the body, NOPE. I have not followed that rule since learning about all of this stuff.
@randolphobrien1493
@randolphobrien1493 7 жыл бұрын
Yes, it is friction that removes dirt. Truth! By that logic you can have clean hair by using more natural stuff and avoiding toxic shampoo. Moreoever, using synthetic chemical cosmetics can and does result in those substances ending up in the blood stream over time. The risk of using these chemicals is simply to great for me personally so I restrict use of these products to a minimum. Just my view on the matter....

I think what a lot of naturals don't understand is that there is a science to hair. And alternative cleansing methods (imo) aren't meant to completely replace the standard shampoo. Recently, I've learned that you really have to take whatever advice from natural gurus with a grain of salt bc as most of them state in their videos, they are not professionals. I think we need to start being more appreciative of educated hair stylists bc the bad ones seem to get the most attention. I shampoo my hair every week and since I've stopped using heavy products that leave too much build up, my hair has been a lot healthier.

I was constantly cowashing my hair every week making my hair build up with silicones on top of silicones. My hair doesn’t accept leave in conditioners, moisturizers, or even hair gel. I have been so frustrated and started thinking about big chopping my hair especially because I JUST overcame most of my heat damage. Now I’m starting to think I should try a clarifying shampoo instead of chopping it all off.
@annanexton4682
@annanexton4682 3 жыл бұрын
@@cfoster6804 I decided not to big chop it. I’ve just been a lot better about washing it. Not as often, and I don’t cowash anymore. I can’t afford to get the healthiest products that don’t have silicones. I have invested in SOME better ones that don’t, but I still use some products that have silicones to stretch it and my products can last. Because of this, I am sure to do a vinegar rinse before washing my hair each time. It’s definitely grown since two years ago, but it’s not where I want it yet. Stretched, it’s to the middle of my back, and I’m pretty sure I haven’t straightened it since this comment either. I used to do a lot of protective styling, crocheted box braids for school bc of the fact that my hair would hardly respond to gel, but it’s been over a year now since I’ve been I school, and I haven’t gotten my hair done since. I just put it in twists and put on my wig when I go out. At one point I was doing protein treatments, bc I thought I was experiencing hygral fatigue or moisture overload for cowashing it so much. Now, I think I’ve done it too much and I’m trying to put moisture back in it now, doing deep conditionings every once in a while and trying to put more product in. I’d say it responds to product a lot better than it had 2 years ago, but still having some issues with that. It’s like some of the hair will, but there are pieces that don’t, and it’s really annoying lol.

Even when I was on the curly girl method for 2.5 years, I still used a sulfate free shampoo every single week. I never understood the fear of shampoo. A clean, squeaky scalp is so important. Yes, shampoo can dry your hair out. That's the point of conditioner. The goal is to find a moisturizing or least stripping shampoo. I also introduced sulfates back into my hair routine about 7-8 months ago and I love it. My hair takes products MUCH better now. I also used a clarifying shampoo for the first time ever 3 weeks ago and it was a MAJOR reset on my hair. My hair is so much more shinny and bouncy. Thank you for educating us Afrikan HG!

I find that clarifying once every 7 to 10 days is the best for me. Idk if it's excessive, but my scalp starts to itch after a week, and if I wait any longer than that I'm reaching up to scratch every few moments. Co-washing is only good for re-moisturizing my hair during the week now that I've been natural for a few years. It's not cleansing enough, otherwise.

I normally do not like to comment about other people's hair care routines because they are so subjective and personalized, but I still feel shampoos are a must. This anti-shampoo crusade needs to stop. One would not wash their body with lotion, nor use fabric softener to take out heavy duty stains......Shampoos are not supposed to make your hair silky smooth that is what a conditioner is for. A shampoo is supposed to cleanse for the scalp's health and for the health of the hair. They make different type of shampoos for different scalp and hair needs, for the love of God people need to shampoo.

I don't shampoo my hair frequently but my hair stylist tells me to shampoo it every two weeks. Since I have relaxed hair I usually wash my hair after I don't want to wear my bangs any more because I don't put heat on my hair myself. I always let it air dry so I have to wear different styles. I got my hair relaxed 12 weeks ago and my hairs grown over 2 inches and there is so much build up on my hair when I put moisturizer in my hair my hands are coated in dark buildup, my pick too. I guess that's a sign I should wash my hair. I recently got a shampoo and deep conditioner that I like. My main reason for not washing my hair is because it doesn't moisturize the same way after I wash it. I could put the same products on it and it will just be...dry even though now it's the exact opposite of dry. Granted I've changed how I moisturize my hair so it might actually work on my post washed hair. I plan on getting my hair relaxed again in 12 weeks, so a total of 24 weeks, so I'm gonna end up washing my hair. I think I should get a clarifying shampoo

kimberly townsend I know "Wen" shampoo, which I was going to try because it looked really good, got sued for having their shampoo be conditioner. I think it broke the hair and just kept creating build up. There's a whole article about it

Hi! Im new to the CGM and I've been consistently washing my hair with sulfate free shampoo's and cowashing, piling on conditoners etc. I was wondering why my scalp felt so ITCHY. Why don't people adress this!!! UGH. Thankyou for this video! xx

Not trying to be rude but what's the point of a video about Coconut oil? if it works for you and leaves your hair soft and manageable just USE it. But if it doesn't, and leaves your hair dry, crunchy, hard to manage don't use it. For me coconut oil doesn't work. When I use avocado oil my hair is very soft. You don't need a video just try it a few day and you'll see

loxena their is no point, just her being petty. Because she thinks the reason people don't like coconut oil is because naptural85 not because it actually doesn't work.

I'm in process of determining style i want and plan to get hair next week. My dilemma is there's SO MUCH HAIR to choose from what do I choose? I know I want human because I'll be in & out pool this summer also I heard about full closure vs partial closure WTH? Anywho hope you can give me some insight THANKS!

could you do something like this with cowashes? mostly debunking or proving that they're as effective as regular wash regimes and under what circumstances a person should cowash.

Glad someone finally mention proper way wash hair. I wish I would call myself letting the run-off water cleanse my highly textured hair lol. What started the no shampoo phaze was back when the only shampoo choices were commercial brands like Gardiner Fruitus, Pantene, Sauve, etc. Only natural brands that were popular were Shea Moisture and Carol's Daughter. Now with all these natural brands out and readily available such as Camille Rose, Blissful Curls, Mielle Organics, Mane Choice,etc. is out, I don't understand the logic of still only doing cowashing only washing, when there are now plenty of shampoos that cater to natural hair. Since only non natural product I use is Eco Styler, I find that using Shea Moisture JBCO Shampoo weekly is enough for me.

Sarah Starr If you are using shampoo there is no need to avoid silicones. People on the curly girl method avoid them because they are difficult to remove without shampooing.

I used kinky curly come clean to clarify my hair 2 days ago and followed with neutrogena triple moisture mask for 30 min with heat and my hair is still dry. Does that mean the shampoo is too strong for my fine and thin hair or the conditioner is just crap? I think the latter lol
