it's funny, I used to wonder how you could take getting stung. Now, in my 3rd year of beekeeping, I notice it, but don't react much, unless they find a sensitive spot. Got one UNDER my fingernail the other day that burned like fire. That was new! Love your videos. Thanks.

Amazing how they utilize every inch of space they claim!! Those big black ants are nocturnal. Years ago when I was logging and working a town job too and had a messy eater in the house, I didn't vacuum one night. The next morning the floor was cleaner than if I'd spent hours on it. They kept house for me the rest of the summer!!

I am totally hooked on your videos. I came across them for the first time this evening. You have such an amazing calm way with the bees and the hives you deal with. How and when did you get into working with bees? I have learnt so much from watching and listening to you explain why you are doing what you are doing. Thank you for caring so much for these beautiful creatures. They really don't want to sting anyone as they know it's game over, and they are no more. I look forward to watching more videos. I will definitely be sharing your videos with my friends. This is just so fascinating!!! Keep safe.

So while you were vacuuming (about between 18:00 through 18:32 ) i was trying to figure out what the bees were doing in the bottom right corner ish, fighting? , cleaning? then my wife pointed out the larva they were cleaning out. So my question is, if a larva ends up out of the comb for whatever reason do the bees ever try to get them back into their or a cell? I'm guessing not but also you've taught me that bees know things that may not be known to us like a broken Queen or infected larva (even when under the caps!) that got me thinking they have to know that the larva is healthy but i guess maybe the fact that they are no longer in the cell that has been clean and sanitized since they were a wee little egg make them unable to be cleaned and saved to go into another cell....I don't know....I'm just doing a bunch of nonsense rambling in type at this point lol. thanks for taking us on your adventures hope ALL IS WELL IN THIS STORM SEASON, sorry hit the caps button figured I'd just go with it. hahahahahaha!!!

Watching you guys makes me think thru the floor is worse than thru the wall, but not quite as bad as thru the ceiling, where you get honey coated. Thru the floor looks like a backache and sore knees. Nasty old hive there either way. I'm not sorry to e a northerner when I think of maggots in the hive. It's amazing the bees can actually control them when there's that many, it's got to be a load on the colony, using a lot of beepower just to keep the beetles in check. Nasty creatures, them beetles, but not so nasty as V mites... We could do without either. Thanks for another fine video, stay dry and safe down there.

Being that you did a lot of vacuuming up bees, it seems that there would be a lot of hive beetles being vacuumed also. My question is, when you dump the bees out of the bee vac, how do you get rid of the beetles as you said due to so many beetles that was why you didn't save and frame up the brood. I admire you as your a wonderful mentor. I did an open air bee hive removal. 1st one that I have seen in 6 years. Unfortunately it was Africanized bees. The hive was on a horse boarding facility. It bordered 2 neighborhood and a running trail near a lake. When I saw it on my phone I was super excited, but I had a hunch that they're Africanized. I got to work and yes they were Africanized. Had to come back that night and put the hive down. Can't save Africanized bees that endanger the surroundings. Why save them in the first place? Boost smaller hives and eventually they die off. Alone Africanized bees I don't keep. Anyhow.... 1 day I would love to come do a bee removal with Normal BEES! I don't really even know what that would bee like. Normal bees.... What is that? Bees that are not in Texas I suppose. I only run across a few a year that are respectable hives.

If you give them clean drawn comb though - and let them walk in by dumping them out front (with the queen inside) does that take care of the hive beetles you took with them? or is there another approach to putting them in a new colony that allows you to separate OUT the hive beetles?

How much of the comb were you able to frame up to get another hive started. If you find the queen and frame up the comb and put the queen in you have a new hive.

I didn't frame any of this one due to the amount of small hive beetles in the hive.
