You mentioned in the review that in the movie, 65, "humans existed 65 million years ago and they were running around, etc." The humans in the movie clearly come from another planet, from another civilisation that had existed before the rise of civilisation here on Earth. Why does that sound so ridiculous?

Theory on 65: they didn't orginally plan for it to be dinosaurs. It was gonna be an alien planet with alien monsters. Then Strange Planet flopped, the studio panicked, so they hastily re-textured the creatures into Dinosaurs and AstroTurfed together a "this isn't your MOM'S Jurassic park" ad campaign

as a dinosaur lover, the designs in 65 were ridiculous for no reason. even jurassic world is leagues better in terms of accuracy and that is saying something. for 65 they just made weird alien monster designs and then plopped real dinosaur names on them because of vague similarities.

One of the things that impressed me the most about 65 was not the movie itself, but everyone’s reaction to it in the movie theater. No one laughed ever. No one was like “whoa” or “aw”. It was just was dead. We were all there, in the same moment, just feeling absolutely nothing. If you wanna watch a GOOD non Jurassic Park movie about dinosaurs, then I highly recommend an animated adult show called Primal, made by Genndy Tartakovsky. It’s basically everything 65 should have been, as the series focuses on a caveman and T-Rex working together trying to survive in a a harsh prehistoric world without having any dialogue. It masters the show don’t tell rule, has awesome animation, as well as incredible action and emotional scenes. Definitely give it a watch at least.

For Shazam, I can guarantee that there actually WERE people independently working on this film. It was probably contracted out to multiple studios who don't communicate, who's VFX supervisors each had unique interpretations of what info they got from the client. And the info they got from the client wasn't even from the director, most likely- it was from the VFX Supe who works client side. So its like double filtered before it gets to the studio that's working on the film, then it gets told to the leads, who then brief the artists . Not to mention that many studios also offload work to outsource vendors. Its a miracle movies feel remotely cohesive at all, honestly.

I presumed when he touched it under the waterfall he was setting it to maximum charge. Then against the T-Rexes that he'd run out of ammo for assault rifle mode so changed it to shotgun. Since the latter seemed to be way more effective against dinos at the end. In hindsight though you're probably right, fingerprint lock. Also explains why the girl's arc never involved overcoming her weapon PTSD and using it to save him. I think the Pitch Meeting for this film was 'Logan.. but with dinosaurs!"

I watched 65 on a flight to Mumbai to kill some time. Saw the trailer before and thought "Mmkay, looks a bit silly but I give it a chance when I get to see it for free". I first thought that Adam Sandler got trapped in a kind of time travel, I mean what else could be the explanation a human being is thrown back into the cretaceous perriod. I was WTF!!-stunned when they opened with the 65 million years ago human civilisation explanation To cut it short: the dinosaurs were an embarrassing fake depiction, you thought they would have watched any of the hundred documentaries out there to get it right. The plot was just jump scare after jump scare and it took them almost 2 days to make the 15 kilometers (10) miles to the other part of the ship?? This felt like rewatching Will Smith's "After Earth", only slightly less ridicuolus. I turned the movie off after the got trapped in the cave with the "T-Rex" outside and watched "Puss in boots" instead. That movie was far far far more better than this crap.

@@gwit4051 It seems like such a weird movie to keep a bead on. It's like everyone knows it's there but nobody talks about it. Like I'm pretty sure I could be talking about movies with someone in a bar, and I'd say, "65 is pretty bad", and they'd agree but they'd also be like, "Why are you talking about 65? Nobody talks about 65. Dafuq."

65 was hilarious. It was an NPC escort mission and the child character had exactly as much personality as one. I could not stop thinking of the Hollywood Rock Family bit from the World War Z review the entire time.

When the 65 trailer first dropped, every bit of tech shown was terribly designed with no thought of in universe use, just there to look "cool" for the trailer. Just sooo stupid that I wrote the movie off immediately. Glad to see every other aspect of the film was as poorly thought out.

Curious if stealth dropping a movie would be good idea. 65 clearly had a lot of interest with its first trailer but people lost interest having to wait the months for it to come out. Similar thing with Cocaine Bear. It worked for Hi-Fi Rush.

From BlackkKlansman, Patterson a marriage story and yes even the new starwars trilogy(I know I’m not proud of myself either) I love Adam Driver and I bugged my friend to come and see 65 because of that and boy was I too embarrassed the whole time like oh boy. They really thought they did something and it was just sad to watch. If I wasn’t with a friend I probably would have walked out. Needless to say I bought her a drink afterwards lol

The biggest crime on 65 to me is that is 2023 and there are still people making "dinosaur" movies and making these magnificant creatures into stupid-looking movie monsters that run on four legs (if you don't know, most of theropods don't run on four)... These are not dinosaurs, they are just abominations created based on a stereotypical impression of dinosaurs from, like a century ago

Curious to know what you thought about SISU. The premise is essentially Norwegian John Wick set in the 1940s. It was way worse than I had anticipated. Granted, it was a European movie released internationally, but it felt like an anime with how bad the budget drops towards the end. And the action wasn't even satisfying.
