Completely agree on the no DIY. I sold my DIY bits and got a VAD-507. It’s really hard to overstate how much less fiddling I have to do. I sit down, play, and everything just works.

@@heloyou2b you can still do a personal project for a hobby or self-edification. lots of people have plenty of success. just don't do it for a professional venue that requires equipment that performs reliably and can't afford downtime

Great idea for a video that I haven’t seen before! I just bought a TD-27KV2 for my church because in consultation with my drummers the better triggering of the digital pads was a requirement, but we couldn’t spring for the VAD stuff even with the sales in December. Going to install it next week when our Christmas set gets torn down. We’re moving up from a TD-12 that has a display that’s barely readable so it was time.

I just bought another eFnote 3x as I gave my son the previous one I bought as an xmas present. I'm not bothered about the sounds on the module as I have a macbook pro to run drum software. As far as mentioning DWe kits, Have you seen the price of them? It's like buying a car! I would have bought the Yamaha but it was too much dosh for what I get compared to the efnote. BTW, If anyone is interested in a dtxtreme II kit with all the bells and whistles for $1500 plus shipping let me know. This kit is expanded and modernised, Plus a load of rack hardware, a spare Yam 500 module for extra inputs.

If I was a venue owner there’s no way I would have an E kit as the house kit. That’s a recipe for a disaster. It would get destroyed. I guess it would depend on the venue, maybe at an old folks home on bingo night or something. This was an informative video though. Cheers

Well, I have watched what seems like 4 million hours on Justin's channel and I have built a few DIY kits. Our house kit is a conversion that I built. We were struggling with the smacking sound from the cymbals/ yes they were metal e-cymbals. I battled back and forth with throwing down for another set of rubber e-cymbals or The "low volume" cymbal option. I finally decided on going for the Wuhan low volume cymbals. I figured for the price I would give it a try. I spent some time on strategic placement for the mics on them. About 5 minutes in total. lol. We have discovered this option works really well for us. My drummers love it and our congregation has complimented the change several times. I realize this may be an outlier, but for $200 for the Wuhan cymbals I couldn't be happier with the result. It may help to note that we use the Pearl mimic Pro for a module.

Costco has the Roland VAD-506C for $4600. Includes bass pedal hi-hat stand, and snare stand plus a few other extras. Is this the same set as the VAD-507?
@Edrumcenter
@Edrumcenter 7 ай бұрын
VAD506C is a Costco only kit that Roland only sells to them and not music stores. Which obviously makes it confusing for the consumer. It just a VAD506 with some DW hardware. The VAD507 has the much better VH14D digital hi hat and heavier duty cymbal stands for not much more. If you're looking at a VAD507 hit us up and be sure to use the coupon Justin gives you at the beginning of the video.

How we solve the low volume / plastic hit issue on stage. We have a small 125 person space and use a Roland set (TD 50x - TD-50k2). We have always used a spare house speaker behind the drums on its own Aux mix from the board. Solves the plastic hit sound problem. Sounds like the house.

That’s arrogance to me my band members always are distracted by my cymbals on stage control of sound is all our problems . Crowd and band. Even just the piped music is louder than the band. There’s meters that can define what the bar pipes and band plays. I’ve been on 300 stages big 3000 is of course louder but they can do better with more speakers and smaller less loud. Playing with feelings takes years of practice dynamics control is also years of practice. I teach pp to ff doing loud all the time connection with crowds most important. Get some lessons

Do you know if there is something you can do with the Roland vad 507 on love situation like the enote pro has like that stage box? I’m wanting more than my stereo left and right and 2 direct outs but I’m using mac book pro with edrummer 3 I don’t know if there’s an audio interface you can use or what the options are I’m clueless about that kind of stuff. At 1:40 I explain that I don't recommend drums with metal electronic cymbals (for stage use), because metal electronic cymbals are pretty loud, and have a higher pitch than rubber cymbals which makes them stand out too much. Depending on your speaker volume and room size, the audience will hear a "ting ting" sound as you play. Metal electronic cymbals are a better fit for studio use where this limitation doesn't matter.

Awe, good question, although unfortunately Justin is prolly right. I'll definitely be watching for his NAMM video !!!!! I bought an online pass last year and I thought it was a waste of money. I thought there would be live feeds of the booths and there wasn't. That's what I wanted to see, so the rest of the pass was kinda useless to me. Unless you want to watch a seminar on flutes or marching band techniques or whatever, I wouldn't recommend getting the pass...lol
