Quick update. There is a micro adjust to the pic rail attachment on the Gunwerks. My fault for missing that.

Solid review of all three. I have owned a number of bipods over the years. Harris, Atlas, MTN gear, Spartan. I have not tried the gunwerks or the MDT ckye bipod. I’ve honestly moved away from bipods in the last two years as I tend to shoot off my hiking sticks or tripod. My tripod can fold flat to the point where it acts like a bipod if needed. I’ve also found most bipods are slow for deployment and use when you need to snap and take a shot. I’ve found I’m actually faster shooting off my pack or hiking sticks. I personally have a hard time spending a couple hundred bucks for something I may use, but likely just rides along on the rifle. Thanks for putting this out there though for guys trying to narrow it down.

Great review. Haven't had the opportunity to try any of these bipods, but do use the MDT CKYE double pull. For me, stability, cant and pan are absolute necessities, with weight being secondary. I've found that bipods work great until they don't. Snow freezes them up until you can't deploy or retract the legs....always have a backup.

Jay, love the reviews. Tech suggestion here from a long time producer in the outdoor industry. Open that f-stop up to 4-5.6 on a 70-200 lens if possible. Take that longer lens to 100 or 135 set it further away if you’ve got room that’ll have the products and yourself in focus and still give a smooth blur in the background. Shooting so shallow right now doesn’t allow us to see those products on the table or even in your hands a lot of the time. Best reviews out there, thanks!

I think the IV is capped at 29.99 minutes of straight recording before they loop to the next clip (which is pain in the ass so be careful there.) As independent reviews it didn't make sense, but looking at big picture over multiple reviews, it makes sense to be able to easily compare winners, not losers. Great review Jay. I like how you acknowledged Spartan for their innovation in really creating the lightweight bipod market - kinda deserve points for that. MTN Gear came along and refined this offering with far greater functionality at a much lighter weight and design. But being a gear nerd and super picky, this review is comparing two ultra light bipods (Spartan, MTN) which are really designed for quick deployment in the mountains with a more traditional general allround use bipod in the Gunwerks design. I wouldn't hang either on the rifle when strapped to the pack, it literally takes seconds to deploy both. I moved from the Spartan TAC to the MTN Gear as the MTN provided a much greater range of steep shooting positions in real world mountain conditions I actually use. The TAC just didn't provide this in a much heavier package, actually broke a fitting shooting an extreme angle. The MTN is a specialist mountain hunting bipod designed to be quickly deployed from your pack to weapon for those tricky long range shots. That's why it doesn't have rubber foot options, it's designed for shooting in the real world. I use a rubber mat on wooden benches when zeroing at the range. Really like how you summarised the Gunwerks for general use.

I have the Gunwerks and it’s awesome! I believe this is the best Bipod. It’s light, compact and the greatest height adjustment as you mentioned. I love it! Btw, on the Gunwerk there is a small screw for micro adjustments on picatinny rail and the L comes with it.

I currently hunt with a double pull ckye pod. It weighs a lot, but the capabilities of it are worth it to me. The Gunwerks is on the short list for 2025 upgrades. I hate the pan feature on bipods mainly because I feel like they rarely lock out properly and give strange recoil impulses. Leaving the head cant slightly loosened allows for level correction when moving the bipod tracking a moving animal

Have you tried the snipepod? I really like the look and options on those bipods but i use mine strictly for hunting and in western mt i rarely find places where i dont need more height than they offer. 99% of my bipod use would be from a sitting position and almost always on a hillside where the ground below my slopes away.

As one of your lifetime members, this is the first review that I've completely disagreed with your assessment. Maybe it's because I like minimalist rifles and dislike things hanging off my rifle. The Spartan bipod is easily attached to the bottom or side of your bino harness via several different manufacturers and is never "left behind". Having a bipod hang off your rifle at all times makes it easier to snag limbs and brush. It also goes into a scabbard or rifle case much easier. I paid for a gunsmith to place a mount into the stock most of my rifles and I don't require anything sticking out to attach the bipod. Additionally, I haven't noticed the "wobble" you described, maybe it's because when the bipod is under load when shooting it tightens up and therefore makes no difference. I do agree that it would be nicer if it had more adjustment for the legs laterally. One guys opinion .
@MindfulHunter3 күн бұрын
Totally fair. We all have different needs.
@Malfin34 сағат бұрын
Hey, also a lifetime member. Good points. However I agree with the review. The GW bipod allows me to keep on or take off nearly as fast as the spartan. It also makes precision easier, adjustments faster, and has increased adjustability. When taking a shot the GW is faster, more quiet, and allows you to keep your eyes up. Finally it’s 3x better for new shooters. Another man’s opinion lol
