Anyone in a struggle removing torque converter bolts remember to remove the bracket on the passenger side right below the access point, it takes a 15mm and there are 4 bolts, it will save you from stripping your bolt heads and a lot of anger in the long run.

2 make shift ramps 1 tranny jack 1dad 1 kid 1hour of removal +8 beers 15 minutes of overdrive replacement clutches 1 1/2 hours of putting back together and bam mine went that quick and the t40 bolts easy I have a million + on my truck 4th time replacing overdrive clutches, bulletproofing might help a little but I prefer the tear down method for inspection it’s all pretty quick and easy after the first time

Wished we could have gotten more details on electrical plugs. Trying to pull them apart without breaking them is proving to be a challenge. Everything else seems to be pretty easy.

More details in general would be nice

I have a question on the alumini driveshafts how do they hold overtime and how much torque will a 5" handle with the 1410 u joints I'm thinking aluminium failure before the u joint will fail. Comments are appreciated thank you guys. 😀

These torque screw can be pita to get off on front driveshaft...good luck on the repair....ive heard 68rfe can be touchy tranny when rebuilding compared to the 47re-48re tranny

Well zack made short work of that :-) It's times like that, that make you appreciate your car lift and transmission jack, with good tools you can do anything. Ahh you have "Kermit throat" lol, yes i'm being silly :-D Dam good filming, really close and clear, great audio too.

Zach is a really efficient mechanic and he loves using my shop. My cold is gone now and I'm feeling and sounding much better now :-)

That's smashing you are better :-D, no fun being ill. Im not a mechanic but i do enjoy seeing clever people attacking a problem and more often than not, winning :-D. it's also a chance to learn something that might help me understand problems with my frends vehicles. My thing is electronics, but vehicle faults are still interesting :-D. Sorry ed, im yapping again.

Not sure if it ever came through but I'm also and electronics guy. I've worked as an Electrical Engineer for 31 years and specialize in Electromagnetic compliance. Zach is also an EE fresh out of college. I love mechanical things almost as much as electronics :-)

I don't remember you tinkering with electronics, but my memory may be faulty, i've watched you for a long time, (That sounds creepy lol ). Oddly i remember the tractor engine repair, i just enjoyed seeing you bring the old frend back to life again :-D. I've loved taking things apart since i was very young, and learned more from actually doing something than the jibberish in technical books. But i suspect i had some kind of learning problem, but schools of my era did not cater for people like me, they would have called me Thick lol. Physical understanding is absorbed easyer, odd that. Sorry im at it again, yap yap

I see you don't show how to remove the nut from the top right side of the transfer case?

When replacing the transmission do the transfer case and front differential oil get replaced? Had to have transmission replaced but have the diffs and transfer case service interval coming up.
@chrisrocketman42442 жыл бұрын
Usually not. If theres no fluid spilling out then I doubt they would replace the oil
