In this video I Torque Plate Hone the '69 427 L-36 Chevy Corvette engine.
Torque plate honing is absolutely essential for maximum performance.

Looks great Ed. Hard to believe this engine was once totally froze up with rust. I’m sure it feels good to get this one across the finish line.

Hi Ed, Great video, thank you. A quick question: How important is the torque plate, is it just a precaution or as they say"rather safe than sorry" Is the heat sufficient enough to distort the block? or is there another reason for using it. Thanks again and take care.👍

Good morning Anthony, thanks for watching and the comment. It is very important to torque plate. If you have access to a plate, use it. It will make the cylinders round when the cylinder head is installed and torqued down. Thus improving ring seal performance, horsepower and torque. Have a great day.👍👍

when i clamp a torque plate onto a block that has just been bored and before i hone it, ive seen as much as .0004" warpage. if your piston-wall clearance is .001, it's a lot.
