Excellent work! Nothing more impressive than a block perfectly equalized front to back, side to side, and zig zag. That is the ideal foundation to make a runner. It's gonna be a reliable, fun truck.

Thanks Terry, I really appreciate you watching and the positive feedback. These engines were low on compression when they were new. .025 is really nothing as this is done everyday on other engines. Glad that you liked this content. Have a great evening. 👍

Nice & Square Ed, great job. That block was ringing pretty good. On the Storm Vulcan I used to have about a dozen of those cheap rubber Bungee Cords. I would run the cords through the lifter bores down around the bar to the fixture, or anywhere they would go to get rid of that ringing. Sometimes it would only take a couple bungees to smooth it out. There was a certain frequency that the Storm Vulcan hated, and it would leave a horrible surface finish if you didn't try and dampen it. If you ever run into that problem, give it a try. Take care.
@edsmachine93

Thanks Chris, I appreciate you watching and commenting. Yes the harmonic ringing could be a problem on the Storm Vulcan mills but could do it on the Van Norman 530 and 570 rotary broaches. I had a Winona Van Norman VM2000 Vertical mill. Usually when the bits or inserts would get dull or you got a block or head that had hard spots or a weld the factory did. With the CBN insert, it is a game changer for sure. Thanks for the Bungee cord tip. I may have to use it sometime. Have a great day. 👍

Nice. I had the same issue with my 360 LA block being out of square. Front to back and side to side were 0.010+" differences. One head chamber to deck was 0.020" different. Lot of machining to use the KB quench dome pistons.
@edsmachine93
@edsmachine93 26 күн бұрын
Thanks James, I really appreciate you bringing this up. People have a hard time believing these things can be that far off from the factory, but they are. Nothing wrong that can't be fixed, just patience, time and the willingness to do the job. Have a good evening. 👍

@@edsmachine93 Thanks for the reply. I like your you tube channel. My 360 was the first "quench dome" piston engine I built, and to get the "quech" distance and equalize the chambers all the same took more machining and measuring than I was expecting.

How will this affect the fitment of the intake manifold?
@edsmachine93
@edsmachine93 29 күн бұрын
Hey Unfinished Project, thanks for watching. Not to bad, may have to mill off the intake face of the head and or intake manifold. Considering that this block was off more than .020 side to side and more than .012 on the passenger side front to back. I am not even worried about it what we have to do to fix it. Have a great day. 👍

Good job. cutting that much off will that make a problem later on with valve lash where Mopars have no valve adjustment ? I'm not a dodge guy was just wondering but thanks for showing us what it took to get it back true again
@edsmachine93
@edsmachine93 28 күн бұрын
Thanks Hippie for watching and commenting. Valve adjustment is no big deal. Get correct pushrods. In this case I believe they are getting Harland Sharp adjustable rockers. So they will need the appropriate pushrods for that application. The same procedure for any engine. Have a good evening. 👍

@edsmachine93
@edsmachine93 28 күн бұрын
Hey Nathan, thanks for watching. It was not just warpage, it was machined that way. But yes had a twist with warpage, bad machining ='s head gasket issues. The heads were bad and both heads were cracked. Have a good evening. 👍
