Mike, when I was in High School 50+ years ago near Corning N.Y. and as a FFA project I planted 1000 red pine trees 6' apart. That was the spacing recommended at the time. It appears your trees were planted about the same time. The problem was that no one thinned them over the years.

They did the same in Rhode island and Connecticut , with red pine. And white. And never thinned it. , they would of had some fine forest if. They had weeded it a few times

I have know areas where they were planted like that and left deliberately to force the trees to grown tall but keep the diameter smaller. When they harvested them it was for poles. The poles were used for power line poles, and pole barns primarily of what I knew about. Mostly white pine in the area I knew about. I am no arborist, but it seems once a pine gets so tall the ability for it to sustain itself is lost. They just seem to start dying off.

Went through a mass beetle kill in Colorado and seen a teacher mill some to see what it looked like and ended up building his kitchen cabinet with it. Mike, of all the different attachments for your tractors I've seen , there is only "ONE" that really stands out in my opinion and it's the Wallenstien skidder! To me that's the most practical multiuse item you have. It even could be used as a winch if you get stuck by using the snatch block. What a great tool. In the future when felling trees, if you have one that you're not sure about regarding direction of fall, use the winch. Just put the cable up as high as you can get, tighten it up and set the winch brake. I do that for tricky stuff.

They make a wheel caddy for logs. You roll it over back of log winch it to and now the back of log is on wheels instead of dragging

M&M. Another source of sales. Horse people who jump natural obstacles, Eventers and Fox Hunters. They will use heavy timber logs in a LOT of ways. Twisted and curved ads - dimension. Sometimes milled logs are used to top a fence and slabs can be utilized as well. I build xc fences and loff that I have access to a portable mill. If you are interested I ould try to steer you where "advertise".

We have had a lot of dogs since we have been married 45 yrs. Been Together 52 Yrs (High school). We have beagles now 4 of them and they have never gotten out of the yard. They have about 1 acre of fenced in 4ft with electric back up to keep others out (coyotes) We do get some deer at times get in but the dogs cant catch them (YET ) LOL My dogs come and go as they please via doggy door. However the best dog we had since we got married was a Australian Shepherd He was so smart and loyal to He was 17 when he crossed over RIP Pepper. Question for Mike. Why dont you use the logs i see already down are they that bad rotten. Its just firewood to me that is still wood to burn. Seems like a waist of wood. Good video good music.
