Also one of those who is watching on my Pixel 4XL and I've had a similar experience. I waited for the Cyber Monday sale to buy it and saved a few hundred dollars. l upgrade every two years and with the sale I find it a good value. The battery was just starting to go on my Pixel 2 and one is the speakers was shot, so it was time. I also love the Assistant phone answering feature and no spam calls! It's amazing! I joke a lot about "my personal assistant Enrico" which is what I call the Google Assistant and my manager called me from his home phone for the first time and he got the Assistant and said, "So you have Enrico screening your calls now?" I've never used an iPhone so I can't compare it but I've loved the two Pixel phones I have and three Nexus phones before that. I'm all in with these phones. Best experience of Android and the regular updates make it even better. I use a Pixelbook for my main computer so I have no issues with file transfer--everything from one is on the other with Drive. The only reason the pixel 4 got bad reviews is that they priced the phone comparable to phones with significantly better hardware specs. I don't think anyone doubts that it's a good phone. Google just needs to realize that people aren't going to pay more just for software, you really need to compete in hardware if you want to compete at the top end of smartphones. One good thing about google fumbling their phones is that you can pick one up for a god price if you wait a year or so. I'm still happy with my 2xl, but I doubt I'll buy another google phone unless they stop dicking around with the hardware specs. Another thing, almost anyone would be happy with this phone if they didn't have to pay for it...

Managed to get my 4XL 128GB for about £600 in a contract deal with 120GB data. One thing I don't like is no reachability/one handed mode in the XL. Also watched this review on my Pixel 4 XL. I like this phone. Many of the new features are so well crafted that I just take them for granted. it's very little that I don't like about the phone. The biggest area of my frustration is centered around Google Home. My phone is always with me and Google home and the Pixel 4 XL often collide when processing voice commands. This is probably more of an issue with Google home than the Pixel. Google home doesn't really provide a direct way to specify which device to do something on. And I'm finding that devices really get confused sometimes which just confuses me. I moved from a Pixel 2 XL to a Pixel 4 XL and I find the features of the cameras to be a little unnerving. But I'm enjoying the learning experience. So far this is the best camera on the cell phone I've seen. Well probably the best camera I've seen. Everything else about the phone meets or exceeds at my expectations.

Nice review! The Pixel 4XL is an outstanding Android device through and through. I found gestures are useless for the most part but hands free control over music/video could be relevant while cooking or washing dishes or something of the like. Assistant squeeze is super convenient however. That face unlock is a total gamechanger. I deem it absolutely necessary on all my future phones. Screen refreshing at 90hz makes scrolling so smooth I could never go back to 60. The phone also feels surprisingly light in your hands. Downsides? Agree the battery is a tad low on capacity. But for me the biggest let down is screen brightness. It is laughably insufficient for those bright, sunny days outdoors. That's it really. All in all, Pixel 4XL has made Android a true pleasure to use. I'd give it a solid 9/10.

@@Jed1317 Hi! Lifetime iPhone user who switched to Google Pixel 2XL 2.5 years ago. I love my pixel and look forward to replacing it with another pixel some day (but not yet, because my phone is doing just fine). I am super impressed with the battery life, speed of charging, camera quality, photo storage, and whole google software extravaganza that google provides. The phone feels smooth and luxe. Different from an iPhone for sure, but there are so many cool things that google squeezes into their pixels that I would be super sad to let go of if I had to switch back to iPhone.

It does do all the things you said it doesn't. There is nearby share for Android devices, android OS smartwatches That Mimic the apple watch. You can download another app for specific vibrations for certain people! Google Duo for "FaceTime" and you can "iMessage" other android users through the native messaging app with read receipts just like the iPhone. I switched two years ago. Never going back.

Such a nice phone! I would have loved to have gotten one but the lack of a fingerprint sensor was the deal breaker. I'm fine with my Pixel 3 XL for now but I must say, I do love Google and will not go to any other brand. I'm coming from an LG G8 and from a Samsung Note 9 and I'll never go back to those phones since trying out the Pixel devices. 😍

Watching this on my px4xl.. Battery could be better to be more in line with other flagships of the time (+1-2 hours I suppose) but I'm still not happy to give it up because it's just so awesome to use it. People and reviewers that use it for a day or two and read from spec sheets just don't realise what onboard speech decoding and assistant alone can do to improve the user experience. Then there's also that titan security chip. Soli has limited use, if they manage to make it smaller and use almost no energy then keep it, it is nice to have a phone to respond to you. Also saves battery in combination with always on display (it only turns on when you are near it). Silencing of calls and alarms just by reaching for your phone is also very nice. But if I had to choose between soli and slimmer bezels I'd opt for the latter. The alternative is to bump up soli functionality massively for px5.

The Model 3 starts at around $40k (USD) and in some states, you receive $7.5k back, so you are paying for a 32.5k car for which you don't have to pay for gas. Our monthly charging bill is $20 compared to an average monthly gas bill of $90+ for the same amount of miles. So, owning a Tesla isn't a flex as it's not as expensive as most people think it is.

Samsung S7 Active has screen stay awake function and has since I can remember, S5 Active had it. One thing they lost however that I really liked was a pop up preview, say if you pointed at a picture in gallery. It has HAPTIC FEEDBACK when typing and GIF's and emoji accessible in keyboard. It even has a little thing that I can draw and send little notes. If you're a good artist, more. I'm not a one so all I've accomplished is little note!!!

As a Pixel 2 user since launch I can say that my phone still blows my mind, sure yes there are better phones out there but even after 2 1/2 years everything is snappy, the colours are great and the camera still can keep on. Also this is changed now with newer Pixel phones but I actually still have unlimited cloud space with it for my Photos and videos. And squeezing my phone for the Android assistant is a feature I don't want to miss. :)

Being an android developer myself I think I can explain to you why, in some occasions, it takes some time to open app, when clicked on the notification... What normal notification does is, when, you click on the notification, it opens the app and takes you to the home screen activity of app instance... There is a special kind of notification known as "deep link" notification. They are special in the sense that, instead of directly taking you to the home screen of the application, they are intended to take you to the specific part of application... For that to happen, the process has to go through following states before the specific page in application opens... 1. Call the login instance and verify your credentials with server. 2. Finish the login instance. 3. Decode the deep link and find the application jump path. 4. Fetch the application deep link data from server. 5. Jump to the specific page in app and render the data... Because, it has to work through 5 life cycle stages before jumping to final result, it takes some time... You are really lucky that, google has mastered the deep link technology because of which, lots of unimaginable things have become possible... Apple, microsoft and others are not even close to google when it comes to deep links technology...

You're definitely right about the screen attention feature. I haven't used the Pixel, but Samsung's Note 3 had it and I looooved that feature... and then they pulled it off with the Note 4 because people complained about bloatware, and somehow that's what they thought they meant.
