4:31 if you're new to FPV, don't try doing this. You more than likely have airmode turned on and the quad will freak out trying to keep it at the angle you turned it on at, so you'll most likely cut yourself I believe Steele has airmode on a switch, so when he arms without turning on airmode, his motors will just spin at idle speeds and be relatively harmless

If i'm not mistaken, Kiss will enable airmode after the first time you pull up the throttle. If you just arm airmode is not enabled.

So I’ve also been testing. I’ve been doing reverse. Running 4s batteries in my 7 inch build for king range. I have some 1300kv motors on it and for long range you aren’t doing anything but cruising. So far with minor tuning it’s going insanely well. I’m waiting on a 4s lion pack to get to me

I think this works a lot better with higher pitch props. I often fly my 6s quad on 4s and its just fine but more control and still pretty good punch. My only problem is that sometimes I underestimate the amount of recover thrust I need.

I fly 4s exclusively at the moment and I built a 2306 1900kv on a chameleon 5 inch. It flies pretty well with 5045. I like it for longer flights, but the lack of speed during near misses does create challenges.

You can adjust the PID settings on a 6s quad for the 4s thrust to be fine. A more fun video would be putting 6s on 4s motors and ESCs (I've done it and it works)

Oh so THAT'S what he did? I thought that he armed it while walking and risked blipping any of the controls and it flying around in his hands and face... But was maybe just super experienced and knew how it'd would react? So he disabled pid loop so this thing wouldn't react to anything? Could he still throttle up?

@@cinialvespow1054 yeah he disables the pid loop im not sure how the controls affect the quad at that point but at least moving it around it doesn’t do anything. Or he disables the gyro im not sure but i want to know really badly cause it looks super convenient to check props that way

For a while I flew 4s on 2150kv hypetrain v1s for like 2 years. I really enjoyed that extra throttle resolution but I could still achieve faster flight with the gemfan 5146.6. Setup made for a really nice 5 inch cruiser but lacked top end. That 6s freestyle at the end just shows why Mr. Steele is and always will be #1 and I hope to be flying 5s on 2550kv soon.

check your wire gauge can handle the higher current of 4s, 6s builds usually use thinner wires that will heat up with excess current, but i guess since the motor kv is still low it might not pull so much current

i told a buddy just starting out to build a 6s kwad and learn on 4s. realistically hes future proofing himself and a slow 4s kwad would be better to learn on than a fast 4s kwad. so why not build for 6s right ?

Saw BanniUK fly 4s on 6s racer for 2 lipos and after he got the race line down send it on 6s for the rest of the competition. while underpowered its much easier to control so it makes total sense in some situations.

I tried 4S on 1900kv with really aggressive props (5150). Still not perfect for freestyle but extremely efficient for cruising.
