I kept the initial oil in there for a while as well. Almost took 10K miles before it got to the 5-10% remaining notification. But the molybdenum is not added into the oil. The oil isn't special at all. Molybdenum is from the "assembly lube" that is applied when the parts that comprise the engine (and the moly-impregnated piston skirts that are installed) at assembly.

Correct.

@@Camhill182 Moly is in the assembly lube. Every manufacturer uses it to assemble new engines. www.bobistheoilguy.com/forums/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=2235226 "Honda does not use a special "break-in" oil loaded with moly. What they do is slather engine parts with an assembly lube to prevent scuffing during manufacture. This is what accounts for the high moly content in UOAs of first-change Honda oils. Typically, the assembly lube is nothing more than a regular motor oil mixed with some molybdenum disulfide paste (yes, that's really all it is). Pro Honda Moly 60 paste is actually recommended in OEM Honda service manuals as the special ingredient to use when creating their recommended assembly lube.

If people stopped buying cars marked up then this wouldn’t happen. This goes with every business. People always buy from impulse when I’m reality they don’t need it. Food internet housing and a RELIABLE car is what we all need. Everything else is dependent on your living needs. People have money to spend on marked up cars that’s why the type r is still overpriced for what it offers sadly. I could be wrong but this is how I see things
@BigBear--3 жыл бұрын
It’s not that people have extra money for cars. It’s that there’s more people that want the car, then there are available cars. Naturally the business wants to maximize profit, so they mark up the car to what the market could bare. The fact that you want the car at MSRP means the guy that want it the most will be willing to pay a bit extra to get the car over you. Welcome to free market economics.

Sometimes you can REDUCE/eliminate the mark up....heres how its done: Take the sales person out side....and tell the sales person that THEY arent getting it...the DEALERSHIP IS. They may get a small portion. SO I would offer the sales person half of the mark up...under the table...."IF" they can get it down to MSRP....start the coversation by finding out what portion of the "MARK UP" they are getting..if any. NEXT thing you know rhe sales rep is telling the sales manager what a "GREAT GUY" you are....bring a personal check with you...
@BigBear--3 жыл бұрын
@Jimmy77 could work. The prob is the sales guy is just a point of contact between you and the manager. The sales guy has no decision making power in terms of major pricing decisions. The manager is the lowest guy on the totem poll you would have to grease to make this work...and even then it might not work unless the finance department approves the deal - which could also be a prob depending on the dealership. The other prob is you gotta be ready to lay out $5K in cash...which might be a prob for people trying to finance or lease. It’s definitely worth a shot as a last resort. I would skip the sales rep and go to the sales manager first though. Or approach the sales rep and see if he’s buddies with the manager then offer for them to split the “finders fee” (bribe).

Molybdenum does NOT dissolve metal. Moly is a friction modifier additive, that you can find in any high end oil. It’s also sold either as a standalone additive, or as part of an additive pack in products sold as friction modifiers. Under a microscope moly would look like thousands of tiny horizontal plates that slide on each other, it’s great for horizontal loads, where that sliding action is what gives it great lubricity. It can’t take a lot of compressive load however as the plates would just slide out of the way of the load (think crankshaft inside the bearing race, it would squeeze the moly right out. That’s why you can’t run straight moly in an engine, it needs to be part of a larger package where the other additives and oil can take the hydrostatic load and not get squeezed out completely. With the correct additive package in oil, same example (crankshaft inside bearing race) the crankshaft is actually suspended above the bearing with a film of oil that is constantly being pumped in and squeezed out, creating a barrier between crank and bearing. The oil and other additives resist hydrostatic load and keep it suspended, additives like moly provide a lot of the lubricity, and increase friction efficiency, and lowering heat.

Cameron can you review the Honda sensing lane keeping assist adaptive cruise in the 2021 type r? Does it take a freeway corners hands free like it’s predecessors, 2019 Honda Civic hatchback, Touring with Honda sensing. Maybe discuss the brake hold assist feature.

My Si grinds gears some too but I’m not sure if I’m not pulling the gear fully before my foot is off the clutch

NOW you're talking! this is the type of comment that will lift my spirits. I will buy a bonneville ssei as a daily driver as soon as I can find a clean one for sale within a 500 mile radius! i've been looking constantly

Waiting for 11th gen type R to decide if I’ll upgrade from si. Really hoping the type R looks better than the base model 11 gen that we’ve seen so far

After looking at the 11th gen sedan, I pulled the trigger on the 10th gen CTR. The new front end is so ugly.

@@nicolathonathan770 same man. I think the 2021 CTR will be remembered as the best ever

I have a 2018 civic sport and I have experienced the grind but it really only happens when going to third or if I'm stopped with my clutch in and going through gears it will only go halfway into a lot of gears
