I have tested 5.56, 5.45x39, and 7.62x39 against various barriers. I agree, it doesn't get much better than a 7.62x39 when punching through car doors and ripping through drive by shooting intergalactic aliens.

The Russian sf in Syria were using 7.62x39 due to availability and commonality with their Syrian counterparts and noticed it was much more effective than their 5.45 in urban environments and critical distances, prompting the Russians to officially re adopt 7.62x39, in the AK-15s. I have been a 5.45 fan since the mid 2000s, but liquidated my stockpile and rifles and replaced them all with 7.62x39, it is also excellent out of short barrels, and this is where it really shines.

7.62x39mm only excels in short barrel for maintaining most of it's muzzle velocity. Other than that, it is shadowed by 5.56 and 5.45 flat trajectory in carbine length and above.

ok i gotta weight in. i grew up in the comblock community. when i was collecting comblock back in my late teens and thru my 20s, you couldnt pay me to own a nato weapon. i dont know why i just naturally went that way, perhaps the simplicity or the looks, i believe it was a combination of both. however around 5 years ago i had a massive switchover in my brain. perhaps out of practicality or just reality. but i made a descision and sold my entire combloc collection. everything. and switched to nato. mostly because of the ubiquitous use of the ar platform and glock pistols. and if there is a massive "issue" if your ever in a position to pick up gear on the street or dropped gear the odds are that it will be from these 2 platforms. and so i now still do not own a single comblock weapon. which most of my friends calll me a traitor for. in fact one guy that i got into guns, and primarily combloc weaposn cant stand the fact that i no longer own a single ak anymore. however i must agree that the ak and the 7.62x 39 still even now get a bad reputation for accuract. and tho it is an extremely unfair critique. of course evey gun is only a good as the shooter. but still as for balistics, the 7.62x 39 is the best reound for infantry or even conscripts. kinda the jack of all trades bullet. in my opinion.

The 7.62x39mm has a slightly larger destructive effect but can actually be destroyed with the Russian 5.45x39 or NATO 5.56x45 caliber, only more shots need to be fired at the target For example, a concrete brick can be shot from 2-3 shots with a 7.62x39, but it can also be shot with a 5.56x45 NATO or 5.45x39mm Russian ammunition with 4-5 shots. For my part, I consider the 5.45x39 caliber to be the best, although a type of cartridge is not very humane as it is hollow and therefore turns several times in the human body before stopping or leaving, causing severe damage than NATO's 5.56x45mm

Jason Bloho It fires from a 30 round magazine, or any other capacity magazine for an ak. You can change out the bolt and carrier easily if they wear out, and it use a rotational locking mechanism. The SKS uses a tilting locking mechanism, which has pros and cons to it, one con being its not easy to just swap a next locking mechanism into an SKS, as far as im aware, i could be wrong.
