Eating these adrenal superfoods can help improve your energy, fight fatigue, balance cortisol, and treat adrenal fatigue.
Your adrenals help to control and regulate your ability to manage stress through the production of cortisol. But given the current environment, we find ourselves in, our adrenal glands often need some additional help.
You can support your adrenal glands by eating certain foods known as adaptogens. These foods are called adaptogens because they help your body adapt to stress.
In addition, many have been researched and shown to have a positive impact on cortisol levels.
If you are trying to support your adrenals through your diet or if you just want to make sure your body is in tip-top shape then make sure you consume these foods as much as possible.
You'll find that many of these foods have positive impacts on more than just your adrenal glands as well.
Maca - Maca is a plant that originates from the Peruvian mountains and is frequently used in this region to support vitality, sexual health, and stress resilience.
Goji berries - Goji berries are considered both a superfood and an adaptogen which means they are jam-packed with micronutrients. They are frequently used for anti-aging, immune health, and reducing inflammation.
Holy basil - Holy basil is a plant native to India which has been used in Ayurvedic medicine for centuries. It’s frequently used to treat anxiety, stress, diabetes, and high cholesterol.
Turmeric - The active component in turmeric, known as curcumin, has been shown to have adaptogenic properties. Turmeric and curcumin are frequently used because of their powerful anti-inflammatory properties but have also been used to treat conditions like diabetes, autoimmune disease, and even obesity.
Mushrooms - Mushrooms like lion’s mane, reishi, chaga, cordyceps, and turkey tail have been used for centuries as well. They have anti-stress properties and are frequently used to enhance cognition, focus, and clarity, reduce the impact of stress on the body, and enhance the immune system.
Ashwagandha - Ashwagandha, a popular plant native to Asia and Africa, is often used to treat a number of conditions including infertility, insomnia, low testosterone, diabetes, and inflammatory conditions.
Licorice root - Licorice root is considered an adaptogen and has also been used to treat viral infections and gastrointestinal ailments.

The difference is that M.D.s are literally not allowed to prescribe herbs, natural vitamins or adaptogens. Only pharmaceuticals are allowed to be prescribed. Naturopaths and chiropractors, holistic doctorsare the best, because they look at the whole picture and the cause- they are not just masking symptoms like M.D.s have to.

I have Hashimoto & also adrneal fatigue I'm 60. I really like Maca! I feel a boost of energy with it. I add it to the forbidden beverage organic coffee. I tried not doing coffee for a few days. Constipation is intolerable so went back on it. I'm considering doing Nature's Sunshine Tio He cleanse. It worked really well in 2002 but when I did it again in 2013 It didn't work as well. Pooping is important! I also like Lemon Balm tea to lower control. Cordycepts is really nice also!

@@gabrielle1777 that's what some say. I just get maca from Swanson's herbs or I herb. Either powder or capsules. I also use Sunfood Spirulina &Chlorella. I understand it's high in iron. Methyl B 12, CoQ10 and nutritional yeast flakes unfortified because it's high in Vit B1/Thiamine. Another thing I really love but am out of is Amla fruit powder. Available from I herb. Very high in Vit C. Sounds like a lot but I feel a difference. I also do my best to eat whole foods without grains or wheat.

So confused. You said hashimotos patients need to get adrenal support - and this is a list of supplements for adrenal support. Yet many of these items are specifically contraindicated for Hashimoto's patients. I've read: - that maca can disrupt female hormones enough to avoid it - and increase TSH - people with hypothyroidism should avoid ashwaganda - merck manual says hashimotos patients shouldn't use holy basil - too much turmeric is problematic for anyone with stomach problems and can cause gallstones etc etc. Who do we believe??

Hi Doctor, I have had subclinical hypothyroidism for years (which had improved a lot since I started taking iodized salt), but a few months ago I took sertraline for a few months and since I stopped taking it more than a year ago, my thyroid activity worsened (besides starting to have PSSD, but well, that's another story). I wanted to ask you if it is common to have thyroid problems and have too many adrenal androgens. I'm female and since a few years ago (one before I was diagnosed with subclinical hypothyroidism) I was detected with super high adrenal androgens (DHEA-S around 400-600). I already took an anti-androgen pill, but it made me feel horrible, so I don't want to take anything else for that. But do you think the two conditions could be connected? I've already been to several doctors and no one has tested my cortisol because they say I don't have any physical symptoms that would warrant such a test 🤷🏻‍♀️

I read somewhere that people with thyroid issues should be careful with maca (sorry, forgot the source). What is your recommended dose?
@Raquel_98

I read that we have to be careful with raw maca, but not with gelatinized maca because that process (gelatinization) destroys most part of the glucosolinates that acts as goitrogens

@@Raquel_98 I have Hashimoto. I haven't gone to an MD's for 10 years! Dr. Childs is awesome but most don't LISTEN and won't give all the needed tests. I saw a Homeopath and after suffering with exhaustion since childhood, I finally got diagnosed in 2021. I did grow up in the goiter belt and my Mom also had Hashimoto. She did well with armor but I have poor people insurance:. Medicaid. So they only approve Synthroid or Levothyroxine. No thanks, I don't want to lose my hair! Maca can be expensive. I just get it from Swanson's herbs or buy the powder and add it to the forbidden beverage of coffee. Made my hot flashes go away 8 yrs ago! I feel an energy boost on Maca! I'm 60. I follow Dr. Eric Berg and do healthy keto with intermittent fasting. Hope this helps.

Licorice gave me bad headaches. Rhodiola made me very jittery and anxious, almost a panic attack feeling.. I've read that turmeric lowers cortisol... I have very low am cortisol, and my naturopath told me I have adrenal fatigue.. Adrenal extract seems to make me tachycardic and I've read that means my parasympathetic nervous system is dysregulated which makes sense as I'm having trouble sleeping.. Please tell me how to heal my adrenals when I'm so sensitive to everything!!

@@tanyawieczorek6603 I said only fruits and veggies for a while they have lots of amino acids especially foods like apples watermelon avocado alfalfa sprouts protein is just a complex amino acid.. actually eating too much is hard on ur body so this helps u detox from free radical proteins that could be causing harm as well if u really feel the need to eat something else just eat sprouted nuts or seeds.. but etheir way the hunger u felt was from ur used to being heavy after full with food like meat or malabsorption. And I lived off that diet for 5 months and I'm currently still on it I have no protein issues I have healthy nails healthy hair everything is better. Dr Childs, have you any insight into varicoceles and Hypothyroidism/Hashimoto's? It maybe a missing link in male Hypothyroidism. Some men appear to have gone Hypothyroid soon after getting varicoceles. Others think the varicocele resulted from poor blood circulation post Hashimotos. At any rate, removing varicoceles, from both testes, would be necessary to see if the Hashimoto's is improved. What is your view on this? Also, can digestive enzymes etc. be used as an alternate to NDT? Here in the UK, getting NDT prescribed is not happening... instead they'll write you off as non meds compliant, although levo has been making you more ill than ever... and thank you!
@meagiesmuse2334
@meagiesmuse2334 Жыл бұрын
I'm really sorry you can't get NDT there. Levo almost killed me. I've been on prescription digestive enzymes for at least 15 yrs. now and it has not changed my hypothyroidism. I think kelp might be able to help you some, and of course, also make sure you get enough, but not too much, iodine. If you wanted NDT due to not being able to convert T4 to T3, make sure you get enough selenium. One Brazil nut per day should do it and garlic and mushrooms also have some. Don't take more than 200 mcg. if you take it in a daily supplement.
