Extra tip: Use simple words

My tipps for speaking with natives comes before I speak with them. normally I try to think in the language, imagining conversations that I may have. So for example If someone asks me anything about myself or my interests in any of my languages I will be able to speak about it really well because I have already thought over it before-hand. If you learn foreign languages you will notice that almost every time that you speak with a native speaker they will ask you about how and why you are learning their language, so it is really helpful to know how to respond to this frequent questions when you get them. Normally we understand much more than what we can say, so when the other person speaks about his passions you will be capable of understanding him, even if you couldn't say the same thing. When I think in my target language (having this conversations) I do it with Google translate opened and I search for every word that I want to use and that I still don't know. Of course this kind of self-conversations will not teach you the language, but they will surely make you more comfortable when it comes to speaking, knowing that you will be able to talk about frequent conversation topics. This is not a substitute of learning the language extensively, of course I belive that we should be able to talk and read about a variety of topics. Doing this will give you a motivation boost at the beginning of the conversation because you will get the feeling that you are speaking well, so when you start speaking about other topics you will be more confident and you will express your ideas better on consequence of that. I hope this helps someone!

For me the things that I think work the most for learning and perfecting a new language is talking about things you like. I remember you telling this tips in a video i watched a long time ago, learning a new language improves a lot when you find the right motivation for it.

My answer the question was exactly the extra tip! I have noticed that I can speak more fluently when I don't try to use the same words I would use in my native language. When I don't know a specific word, I make a paraphrase with simplier words. With time and practice, this process becomes faster and I believe people can't say I had to rearrange the sentence in my head.

I have found that the app hello talk has helped my Spanish learning tremendously! Also there's an app called mondly this app it's bar none! I was hooked on Duolingo for a while but this app took learning to a different level... on hello talk, I have over 60 friends from all around the world that I can talk to all throughout the day either through text messages, voice clips, phone call, or video chats. The language is right in front of me whenever I want it.

I would add circumlocution to this list. Do not get stuck on a word if you don't know it. There are many words you will not be able to produce when you are trying to talk. Find a different way to say the same thing. If you don't know the word for car, don't get stuck. Say a thing with 4 wheels that goes on the road. Say Mercedes. Say a fast machine on the road. Make a motion like you are driving a car. Be creative. Do not get stuck on every word you don't know. Find a creative way to say it.

First off -thank you for sharing your advice on language learning :) For me although this doesn't seem very popular with language learning , i love the grammar lessons so i understand the how, and to be able to build my vocabulary, then after a course in my targeted language (or 2 in my case )to find someone to talk with as well as my tutor teacher seems to be working for me:) And yes for me the right mind set is easy with the right people around you

I agree with you. Many Japanese KZbinrs say you should use substitute words when you don't know how to say. If so, you'll never know the right words. It will get you to stagnate your listening skill too. You should not be in the comfort zone unless your aim is just communication.

Hola Lucas me gusta el canal. ¿Cuando se debe de comenzar a hablar el idioma que se está aprendiendo?. En mí caso yo entiendo mucho el inglés me hace falta tener una mejor pronunciación y hablarlo, pero con los consejos que das en tus videos se que podré lograrlo. Pero en cambio el Alemán estoy iniciando nivel A1 y no entiendo mucho o nada, quizás una que otra palabra, ¿.En este caso también aconsejas en comenzar hablar con un nativo?

In my case, it is so difficult to understand a single word natives say, I am living in Australia by the way. When I talk to non native speakers I understand them so well just as if they were speaking my native language so we can have meaningful conversations. What would you recommend me to get used to a specific accent?
@patricioiglesias5346
@patricioiglesias5346 6 жыл бұрын
Simply listening to that accent a lot. Just by living in australia you will get a lot of exposure, but you could accelerate the process by watching some australian youtubers and series (I don't know of any).

Ja que você fala outros idiomas. Faça como Alexandra TV . Edite o mesmo video com as mesmas explicações em outra llingua. E não apenas em ingles . A ideia dos professores apenas falarem em ingles é uma ideia politica que ja esta CAUTERIZADA na mente e tem que ser revista ainda mais por poliglotas . Que tem a intençao de explicar como é facil aprender.🎓🏆
