Seeing people mention Linkin Park kind of makes me sad - their new music is pretty good, and at least they're trying to keep their new material fresh and unique, while still retaining their distinct 'style'.

@MichaelBrown-bf7zr8 жыл бұрын
I've always considered this channel much like theneedeldrop, however much less "underground" or obscure music oriented, and more passionate in a way. Obviously Fantano is extremely passionate about his music, he's literally the internet's busiest music nerd, and I love him, he was the first music review channel I ever watched, BUT this channel is much more accessible in the way that average music listeners and hardcore (not the genre) music analysts can get into these videos alike. ARTV just seems more for the every day music listener, with a slight leaning toward alternative music, and TND seems more for the hardcore critics and music collectors. I've always felt like with TND, it's like, "I come here to find new artists or see what Anthony Fantano thinks of this album I loved" and with ARTV, it's more like "hey bro, what did you think of this band/album because I've really been into it and I know you and I basically have the same taste in music". It just feels a little more relatable here for me. I watch both channels individually for different reasons depending, though both also just for the love of music. I apologize if it seems like I'm trying to compare for the sake of criticism or go on a rant about it or anything, I'm just trying to get it out the way I've always thought about it, because I literally have had this same thought a million times haha. Huge fan of both channels, though.

zach ballard well tell me what's my age again and if you can then I guess aliens exist well I'm going off to college with all the small things on a carousel at the rock show. Try to beat me
@rashotcake69458 жыл бұрын
Ben Liss after riding a carousel, I ate some m+ms with this girl named Josie once while she told me how one time she accidentally spilled apple shampoo on herself and cried out dammit. Then I said "it's all the small things and problems in life that shouldn't be stressed over so don't worry about it." That was our first date. Eventually we broke up even though we said we'd be together always and that really got me down for a while and I started seeing the world in a more cynical light. I told her "don't leave me, don't go, I'm lost without you" but she just replied "shut up, I don't wanna hear it, I'm not feeling this." I asked her "give me on good reason" and she replied "I'm going away to college to San Diego, California so for us, there is no future." People asked me to do stuff to cheer me up like go to a rock show but I just replied "not now, I just wanna be left alone and stay up all night listening to online songs or at least not go to sleep until after midnight." If I had gone, I'd just end up saying halfway through "please take me home." Surprisingly, i wasn't bored to death on my own tho. I thought I'd be tempted to text her "I miss you" but I wasn't. Eventually it was obvious that I was getting over her, I just needed some time. Sorry if this story of a lonely guy dragged on for too long but I just felt like I needed to vent. It was a roller coaster of emotions that I needed to process. Looking back now, she's out of her mind. I mean she expected me to treat her like she's the only thing that matters. I'm metaphorically more sober now in the way that I understand things better now. She tried calling me the other day trying to rekindle our relationship but I just told her "happy holidays you bastard" and hanged up. Since you know, it's that time of the year. I wasn't gonna let her interrupt my family reunion.

3 Bands I Outgrew -Simple Plan-Saw threw their cheesiness once I got out of my tweens. -Green Day-Played Blvd of Broken Dreams a few too many times and they just kind of overstayed their welcome after a while. I still jam to Basket Case when it comes on. -Linkin Park-This one's sad to admit. These guys were my band all through middle and high school and helped me through a lot. But now that I've gotten older and my music taste has evolved, it just feels like I've matured past what they put out musically and what comfort their music offered me. I'll always be grateful to them though. 3 Bands I Grew Into (I'd like to see this, if you haven't done it already) -Muse-Got annoyed by Madness the first few times I heard it on the radio, but I came around. And when I finally gave them a chance, holy CRAP!!!!! Exogenesis is just godly!!! -My Chemical Romance-The Helena video scared the shit out of me when it first came out. My sister was a big fan of The Black Parade, and when I finally got a chance to listen to it, not only did I enjoy it now that I'm older, looking back on how we grew up, I found myself saying, "Okay...now I get it." Love you, sis. -30 Seconds To Mars-The goddamn chorus from Kings and Queens that was used in all that marketing and played by all the popular kids in my high school drove me crazy (it still makes me cringe! Which sucks because I really liked Jared Leto's acting at the time. I've listened to the rest of his music, having a profound moment of telling myself, "...shit, that's good," and now I feel like I owe Leto a huge apology if I ever meet him.

I am the same with Simple Plan and We The Kings. I was a huge fan of them in middle school/freshman year of high school but now I couldn't care less for their music. I don't think it is necessarily "bad" but their lyrics just do not appeal to me anymore. However, I don't necessarily "regret" or am embarrassed that I was a huge fan of them because I understand why I liked them at that time. I think that's why a lot of people I meet today pretty much outgrew the whole pop punk/emo 2000s scene in general... the themes are less meaningful to us because we can't relate as much as we did when we were in our early/mid teens. I still mostly only listen to pop punk/punk rock genre, but I understand why people outgrow it because it's like I'm almost 20 yet I go to school,have a job, live alone in my own apartment, and pay my own bills...I don't have parents to tell me what to do, I can pretty much do whatever I want whenever I want... I like to say growing up is when you realize there are more important things in life to worry about than your crush not liking you back. Hahaha. :') Keep up the good work Jon xx

audrey quentin I really don’t know very much about American music, I was born in New Zealand, lived in Australia, and studied in the U.K. so I’ve always liked the kinds of music that were popular in those countries than America. It annoys me that when I try to get into American music there is just so much that it’s harder to find good bands because I don’t know where to go. For me: Disturbed I used to play "Down With The Sickness" all the time on Rock Band 2 back in the late 2000s, but now I can't listen to it without associating it with edgy teenagers who think they're tough. I don't even think they're a bad band, it's just become hard for me to take them seriously.

+Jason LovesABR pretty much. I like Slipknot and Korn, and still listen to them every now and then, but I often remember some of their lyrics and think "wait, what?" Strangely enough, I'm not very ashamed of listening to Limp Bizkit because I never took them seriously and mostly listened to them for comedic value (whether intentional or not) and had admittedly pretty nice instrumentals. I had a huge nu metal phase in 7th grade, and while I'm not ashamed of listening to it, I'm just not as into it, you know?

I used to LOVE Skillet, they were my first concert, but now I've outgrew them. I've also outgrown the Black Keys; I'd be fine if I never heard them again!
@alexislopez53396 жыл бұрын
The Black Keys used to be my FAVORITE band. They were the first one whose discography I went entirely through. But I don't know... After a while, there is no punch in the music anymore. Is that it? There's just no enjoyment anymore. I guess that's just me getting older, though.

@toolongforyoutoread67 жыл бұрын
Maybe it's because the Black Keys make songs that all sound alike, and their songs are retro rehashes, so they don't sound all that original to begin with. It's not a bad sound, but it's one that I've heard before.

I remember watching this Naruto Clash in the Land of Snow (or whatever it was called) AMV with I'm Just a Kid as the song, back in 6th grade, over and over again because I had dial up and to watch a KZbin video you'd have to constantly play a few seconds at a time repeatedly while it buffered, and that was like my life at the time. "I'm just a kiiiid, and this connection's a nightmare, I'm just a kiiiid 128k a second is not fair" but anyways that was my shit and all those songs from their first couple big releases, and then fucking When I'm Gone dropped and I tried so hard to understand it, like I was in denial about it trying to tell myself maybe this was what was cool at the time and I should try to get into it, but really I should've trusted my instincts because that shit was terrible and at this point they're literally just riding the waves of nostalgia, and that form of suspension in music always snaps at some point. Also haven't heard all of the newest Good Charlotte album yet, but I don't have too much faith in them either, though they did come from much more "punk" roots as opposed to Simple Plan, who always just tries to make whatever's popular at the time, in my opinion.

I still love Papa Roach. Hollywood Whore is honestly one of my favorite songs, great riff and menacing screams. I understand the hate for FEAR and The Connection, and there are at least a couple songs off of each album that are a bit mediocre (I Almost Told You That I Loved You, Into The Light, Won't Let Up come to mind). And I'm not even a fan of Infest that much, Papa Roach really grew good in my opinion with Getting Away With Murder. Good list though. I've recently outgrown Skillet too and wow, their newest songs are mediocre.

The new I See Stars record is fantastic, much more mature songwriting, and overall improvement in just about every aspect of their sound. Check it out, it may not change your opinion of them, but it did for me as I fell off with them as well until this new release.

Four words (to choke upon, amirite): Bullet. For. My. Valentine. When I was 16 they were the coolest band ever and now I don't really care about them or follow them.

David Mitchell-Baker I can admit I don't listen to them quite as much as I used to but I still listen to them on a relatively regular basis, if that makes sense. But I definitely have listened to their new music and I can say they have matured as a band overall. Their new material still won't ever beat their old shit but they're still pretty damn good and they didn't lose their heavy core like some bands tend to do over time. They're definitely still true to their roots.

I outgrew sleeping with sirens and Pierce the veil can't stand either nowadays I find the vocals so whiny. I almost outgrew black veil brides because I finally realized how mediocre they are but I gave them a second chance and I still like them even if there music is extremely simple and repetitive.
@kage66138 жыл бұрын
Pierce The Veil are leagues above those other scenecore bands. their songwriting and composition is still way better than either of those bands, and they're still going strong as ever with the new album.
@jarroadallongay31838 жыл бұрын
I just cannot stand Pierce The Veil, they are just awful at combining their whiny sissy pop punk voice suddenly with the metal growls and I just can't take them seriously. Sleeping with Sirens is okay I guess, a few songs I like by them but again the same problem with PTV (but they do it a bit less imo). BVB imo are just good fun with catchy harmless pop rock songs with good but not creative instrumentation.

Green Day a little bit, since I was die hard obsessed when I was 10-14. I took a break from them for a year after some stuff went down in my life and I couldn't associate the music with myself anymore for a while. After they got inducted to the Rock and Roll hall of fame last year, I rekindled my love and was reminded why I loved them so much to begin with. Others are Katy Perry, Metric, All Time Low, P!nk, American Authors, Imagine Dragons and Linkin Park. I still listen to their stuff when it comes on shuffle, but I don't claim them to be my favorites anymore.

Never knew you enjoyed ISS for the most part. I thought you just reviewed their albums just to check them out, but it turns you were actually a fan of them for while. I grew out of their music as well, but I'm interested to see what they do for their new album Treehouse. Apparently, their taking a different direction with their music and I want to see what they come up with.

Avenged sevenfold comes to mind for me. When I was first getting into metal, Avenged sevenfold, along with classic bands like Iron maiden, use to be my favorite bands. I still have a soft spot for some of their songs, and I still like their album "nightmare", but a lot of their material is pretty average, looking back.

I'm still a Skillet fan, honestly--- but I will admit that I'm not as crazy about them as I used to be. I actually like seeing the band interact in their podcasts more than the actual music because of how entertaining they are to watch. But I won't lie when I say their music doesn't excite me as much as it did back in 2010 to 2013, my biggest years for Skillet. Yet I still can't think of anything I distinctly can point at in the music and say I don't like it--- my musical taste has just changed and I figure that is that.

First all i'm on a couch, but the bands I outgrew were Simple Plan and Good Charlotte. I loved them when i was 13-14 (2003-2004) and a little in HS but now I cant even listen to them without getting bored or changing the song before it's done. Simple Plan more than GC. I like a few GC songs still (lifestyles and I still want to live)
