Well done. I really like how much detail you include with the lumens, battery life, size, weight, color temperature, and even CRI when available. It's refreshing to find someone who does quality reviews! My only critique is that I think your setup would benefit from some acoustic panels to get rid of the echo. Again, great job. S1r2 has been my favorite! Mag base charging, bright, durable and .5 lumen. I do like the way those Fenix look though and the mag base charging is tempting to try out. I'm also a big fan of tail switch. You know I like strong magnets!

Thanks for giving fenix some love! Lol. I've had an E01(single mode) on my keys for 5 years and an E05 (3 mode) in my pocket for 4 years. They're simple, and not fancy little single AAA lights. But they do the job and never let me down. Easy to find and replace batteries. And inexpensive but totally solid built.

I myself own two Fenix flashlights, the UC35 2.0 & PD35 2.0 & have bought two smaller Fenix flashlights (don't recall which models right now) that run on AA batteries for my wife to keep in her purse. Each of the *35s have a Fenix 18650 3500mAh battery & I have two more spares. LOVE these lights, they are durable, reliable, comfortable & well worth the price. Fenix customer service is second to none & they have two lifelong customers in my wife & myself!

The E16 is my go to, I’ve beaten the hell out of it, but it has saved my ass many times. Definitely helped when dad and I went off trail at the river last night and had to break trail back to my truck.

I use the Fenix UC 35 as an EDC in the Middle east. It is a bit bigger but just love it. 1000 lumens on turbo. but 4 light settings and strobe. This light has treated me very well. It does have a pocket clip, but may be a little big for some people for an EDC, but for the battery life on the different modes I don't mind the larger size. USB rechargeable 18650 battery

For My EDC light, I need something with a tailcap switch that either defaults to high/strobe, or can be set to do so. For me a light this size is also a companion to my firearm(other than the tiny key chain light). If i need it in a hurry, I want a few hundred lumens right now, not 5 lumens and 6 switch presses to cycle to a usable setting. Guess I'll have to stick with Surefire for now.

The RC05 has my favorite stepping of lumens... Low, x10, x3,x2 Or 5, 50, 150,300 However I love the MC11 from 2014 and was hoping this light would be upgraded to RC05 stats. An adjustable right angle light is preferred over the fixed head of LD15R

I enjoy my UC35, not the newest version I typically charge the battery with an external charger but I like that it has the USB charging capability because it’s a common connection. It has taken abuse and still works. It’s amazing. Looking for a slightly shorter version for when I wear shorts.

Anthony here...long time listener first time caller... As I was settling in for dinner and KZbin my first thought was I wish my man Taylor would drop another flashlight vid. Almost gave me a semi when I saw it was a Fenix roundup since I've recently been researching which of these would pop my Fenix cherry (rocking the S1R turbo for about a year and I ❤️ it). But to get to the point, what is it about the PD25 you like so much? Unless I missed something, it's running a single cr123a in a bigger body than any other I've seen in that category, and on top of that it's only capable of roughly half the output?! I loved my PD25 for years before I lost it. I've replaced it with an Olight Baton 3 that I am learning to love. However, I have more than doubled the max amount of lumens by going with the Baton 3, and I have realized now that it would be impossible to go back to a light without integrated charging.

The E18R does look slick. I own the E16 (which is my favorite and most useful light I own) and I have a question for you. First of all, I don't understand your choice. I mean no offense by my question, but just curious what your perspective is. Both the E16 and the E18R have the same brightness, same modes, same runtimes, and same battery. They are literally the exact same light, except the E18R is larger (its an E16 with magnetic charging, which you pay exactly $24.96 extra for). I would imagine someone looking for a super small light like this, would want the smallest they can get. The whole point of these lights is that they're small. Your priority when choosing these is for the size first, modes options etc later. Was it because the E18R was newer, and you figured that made it better? Or did the magnetic charging seem convenient? Both have USB charging if you get the 16340 battery with a USB port on it. It costs maybe $1 more (instead of $24.96 more, and it's more compact) and is one less thing to break? The E18R has magnetic charging on the side (which is where the extra length comes from), but requires you to carry a proprietary cable, and doesn't support fast charging. So, you can get bulky, expensive charging (the magnetic charging literally costs more than half the cost of the light - $24.96 charger added onto a $40 light) from the E18R while carrying their extra proprietary cable, or $1 slim charging with any common Micro USB charger, of the exact same quality. As I understand it, you're paying for the annoyance of that cable and getting a worse (larger) version of the same light. Other than that, they are the same. To put that $24.96 into perspective, you can get the super fast "Folomov A4" 4 bay battery charger for that price. The magnetic charging should NOT be that expensive. Some have said that the E16 is too small to hold, and that they want a slightly larger light. I'm actually looking for something larger myself right now, so I do understand that perspective. What are you seeing in the E18R that I don't, and do you think it's worth "upgrading" to the newer model? Thank you for taking the time to read this, and I hope to learn something.

Fenix has been my go to light for as long as I’ve been “into” EDC (to the extent that I am, which is minimal but thoughtful). I carried the LD-02 for several years as a pocket light. I carry a UC-35 for my work as an EMT every day, and I just ordered an RC-05 to upgrade my off duty EDC. They’re quality lights and I’ve never had a single issue. They just work, though moisture, rain, even submersion, drops, bangs, etc. The only gripe I have about the UC-35 is that I can’t stand it up on its tail cap, but I almost never need that.

They should remove the side button. There's no way you will know when you pick it up fast if you're going to trigger some unnecessary mode that isn't blinding or strobe. Blinding/strobe should be on the tailswitch where your thumb is. Holding it like a pensioner if something happens is going to get it knocked to or dropped onto the ground. Maybe while you're searching for the side button with your finger.

Fenix LD30, best EDC flashlight I've been carrying for years now. 1,600 lumens, Strobe, SOS, 1 inch head diameter, .8 inch body and 4.3 inches long. It comes with an S clip for hat function along with a rubber tail switch and battery indicator for your cycling mode button AS WELL! I have never seen a EDC flashlight that can overthrow this one at this size with it's rechargeable 18650 battery. Please anyone looking for IMO, the best EDC flashlight, buy the LD30 while it's still available there edging it out a newer version is out which is bigger and still not as good. The best 80$ you'll spend.

CRI is actually how accurate the light is with color. anything over 85 is pretty accurate. Tempurature is measured is kelvin.

I am a 67yr old EDC guy fanatic,I was doing this before it had a Name ,I had joined the Army out of High school in 1971 during High school worked as a Office Machine company and after my Army service I worked at that same Office equipment company as there sales manager .With the need to have a pen always with me I carried a Parker Sterling and gold pen and it was then I found the need to carry great items like a crocodile wallet and not the bulging dad type.,a Cartier money clip ,18kt pill box and then graduating from my old Army Zippo I met a retiring Zippo and other items sales representative (a old fart I thought,he was 65 LOL.i got his Solid gold 14kt Zippo in the box well I thought it’s so beautiful,and then A Cartier lighter that one I used Thank god I saved that Zippo,well I found out that my old Cartier lighter was 18kt gold after showing it to the Cartier store in Chicago,and i my watches were my first watch my hero and late fathers Hamilton electric also Gold I know the young men call it the Elvis watch ,I guess quite rare in solid gold and my watch the Cartier I saw on President Kennedys wife Jackie the Cartier tank watch ,had to have one ,well kids it has not stopped I carry a fixed carry knife a Spyderco military love it and Love Mecarmy a keychain flashlight

I figured I 'd save some euros by getting the E18R on discount instead of the Batons. Fatal error... It worked OK at home in minor testing. When I travelled to the countryside it started misbehaving. Battery seemed to empty too fast eventhough I hardly used turbo or the flashlight in general. Next thing it wouldn't hold Turbo even for a second. Battery dropped even more the next day. Turbo was cut off from the sequence. I have the PD36R which still performs. This purchase was a bust. So much for overpriced Brands and their supposed quality...

I own a fenix PD32 flashlight and I would like to tell all not to buy the flashlight… they have issues with the switch that turns the light on and off… it is very fragile and mine will not work. I had to get a new switch and now the second switch is broke with the same issue … I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THAT YOU BUY A DIFFERENT BRAND !!!!

Cri has nothing to do with color temperature. The high cri emitters are warm because that's the color they chose, you can have high cri cool emitters as well.

I've had more problems with my Olights than Fenix. I've been using Fenix since they started early to mid 2000's. Still carry my several years old LD10 to this day. The anodizing on my Olights are wearing off sooner.

Nah. I don't think it's really a battle, its more of a preference. You could rephrase your comment as "my preference is better than your preference. What I value is better than what you value" and it'd be the same. Both lights are functionally the exact same. How one or the other "Doesn't even come close" as you say is ridiculous. It's just your personal preference showing. Both have 300 lumens highest stable output, similar size, 1 min turbo of about the same brightness. Their differences are their beam profile, tint, and lack of a sub-lumen mode on the Fenix. That's it. Oh, and one is ridiculously more expensive than the other. I like both lights. The Olight has a sub lumen moonlight mode (very useful!) and has a better beam profile for up close tasks, which account for probably 75% of what this light will be used for. The Olight also has shitty cool white tint, which makes everything look horrible and not even worth using. Many dislike that tint and will even refuse to purchase a light that only has that option, because it causes greater eye strain and has a worse Color Rendering Index - that means it sucks at colors and details. Nice, my $70 flashlight emits terrible looking light, and washes everything out, SWEET. Glad I get to use this everyday /s. It's also 62.5% more expensive and has worse battery runtimes due to poor mode spacing. Fenix: 30 lumens for 12 hours, 150 lumens for 2 hours OR 1 min turbo then step down to stable 300 for 1 hour. Olight: 60 lumens for 3h 40m, nothing in the middle, 1 min turbo step down to 300 for 45 min. Olight charge indicator? Magnetic Charging on the go? Fenix's 16340 USB battery port has all that for $1, and it's more compact. If it breaks, buy a new battery. The Fenix has neutral white tint, and a throwier beam pattern. That means the Fenix shows more color and detail, looks brighter and more intense at the same level of lumens, and can illuminate objects farther than the Olight. Seems like a nice plus. It's also smaller AND cheaper to purchase. I mean dude, that's literally every category a flashlight is even used for, how is that NOT destroying the Olight. They are meant to illuminate objects and the Fenix does it better in every way except super up close, and even that isn't by much. I use my E16 daily for my job. I work in peoples homes, in their attics, and on construction sites. The clip of the E16 is more than durable and more than stable. I abuse the crap out of mine, it has ZERO issues. I like flashlights, I am very critical of them, this clip is great. The strength of the magnet is ALSO more than enough. It easily holds its own weight. I can hang the light from a screw or a nail in the ceiling, along a section of metal duct, inside a furnace, on the side of my coworkers glasses. Why would I need a perfectly functioning magnetic tailcap to be twice as strong? It's already perfectly functional. And not in a "Its ok I guess" functional. That light is not falling down in any orientation. You can hit the light with your fingers and its not going anywhere. So, I guess to wrap this up... You think the Olight is better because its got a nicer clip? I think the Fenix is better. Because it is. But then again, that's just my preference.

The only thing worse than Fenix products is their customer service. What a fucking mess. Got a junk product and they fucked with me for three months till I just threw the flashlight in a drawer.

Magnetic charging is not convenient at all...! How can it be convenient when you can't charge it with a normal USB cable that you can find absolutely anywhere. You need to carry that stupid magnetic charging cable with you if you need to leave for multiple days or if you just want to make sure that you can charge it anywhere. One extra cable that occupies space. If you lose it, you're done.
