There's a bonfire easter egg in a lake of acid in Borderlands 2's Caustic Caverns. There's also an NPC named "Solitaire" sitting on a rock nearby who creepily laughs anytime you talk to him, just like most Dark Souls NPCs.

EDIT: Now that they've edited the title to be "bonfires found in other games", my "weirdly located bonfire in Dark Souls 3" no longer makes sense... Actually, there was a REALLY weird one, INSIDE a Dark Souls game! In Dark Souls 3, most of the bosses drop a Bonfire in their arena upon defeat. This on its own isn't hugely unusual for DS3, up until right after the Dragonslayer Armor boss fight because right beyond his boss room, where he just dropped a bonfire, is another bonfire. No dangerous trek. Just a bonfire literally within sight of another bonfire. It's like a really bad "What's behind this mask? Another mask!" joke.

Maybe the devs decided "Let's have every boss drop a bonfire, the key bosses are all at dead ends anyway so this will help the player a little, especially if they barely survived." And then forgot they had a bonfire just beyond Dragonslayer Armor's boss room leading up to the locked door that you need a specific key for and only a Blackhand NPC has it.

Borderlands 2! There's literally a whole side quest when Tiny Tina DMs a game of Bunkers & Badasses where you go around lighting bonfires with a fire weapon and help a "player" get his souls back from an online invader!

Dark souls bonfires are typically used as a story telling device. Their placement gives us clues about past events in the area, like the ones in the tomb of giants, or the one in front of the Everlasting Dragon. As bonfires can be credited and moved ( see cut content for DS3 ) a " strange " place to find one is telling you a story.

How about in Dark Souls 3 where they have one just appear after every boss is beaten, whether a Lord of Cinder or not, and some of them are meet feet away from bonfires that were already there? It also makes me wonder, if a bonfire is made by sacrificing an undead with a Coiled Sword, and the bonfires themselves are actually linked to the First Flame (hence how you're able to bottle Estus in your flask, estus being Latin for "warmth" and being described as liquid sunlight), how is the sword connected to the Flame? Who made them? And most importantly, who's been going around pinning undead to the ground with them?

In Aragami, a Japanese-style stealth game where you play as an undead ninja, there’s a small and unassuming cave mouth off to one side in one of the levels. Teleport inside and you’ll find a lit bonfire with a sword stuck in it, with a withered corpse slumped lifelessly before it. I found that easter egg when playing co-op with my buddy, and we both loved the reference.

One that i think is worth noting is the Borderlands 2 Dark Souls bonfire, if you go to the Underground area from where sanctuary used to be, there is a giant acid area, but when you get near one corner of the map you can see a platform barely in sight, if you can survive the treck through the acid water, you find an NPC next to a bonfire

I'm pretty sure there is a campfire in pvz garden warfare 2. during a game of trf takeover, if you go to the left of the final area in seeds of time, there will be a campfire with a sword in it, also in the original, if you use the cactuses garlic drone while playing on the lighthouse map, there will be some orange paint that reads "praise the sunflower". In Dead Cells, there are optional passageway in the levels. Sometimes, one of these bring you to a small cave with a Dark Soul bonfire. If you activate it, make a monster appear (they look like undead) and, when you kill it, it gives a lot more dead cells than normal!

My favourite hidden bonfire is in Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun. In the second to last level, Myogi Pass, there's a hidden wall that disappears if you approach it with a torch. Upon stepping foot inside the newly opened cave, you find a burnt out bonfire. Press the interact button and your character will light it. Tadaaa.

Battlefield 1 i take issue with. I still play sometimes with a friend and its not hard to find a full operations server. usually around a dozen full ones in the server browser during the evening, when we usually play, before we find any with open spots. Though im in the US so.

In Paladins Zhin has an emote where he thrusts his flaming sword into the ground, then places his hand out to light it Dark Souls-style, before kneeling over to kindle it. It's not exactly a weird place to find a bonfire, being a fantasy setting itself, but I still appreciate that the character with a flaming sword would make such an easy reference.

Dead Cells has a fun little one. When you discover the hidden room with the bonfire, the words "Git Gud" are written on the wall. When you interact with the bonfire you get the text "This campfire was abandoned by an earlier visitor...." and then "I'm sure it couldn't hurt to take a little rest." After you hear a rumbling and get "Hmm. Something's changed." At which point you get mobbed by a load of enemies at the entrance of the secret room.

There is a bonfire (and a Dark Souls ghost) also in Borderlands 2! It's in Caustic Caverns, the swampy area with water that damages you (which is quite fitting for From Software games)!

Favorite bonfire is in BL2 in the Coustuc cavern on this island across sn acid lake.
