Due to a storm my wifi was spotty and disconnected me from the achievements, but somehow didnt disconnect me from the game pass server, so I somehow did beat the game without getting the strip club achievement. Kinda hoping thru patch one in so I can get it

There's a funny achievement in American Truck Simulator called "It's Something", which is awarded for finding a sign on an out-of-the-way unmarked road that simply says "CONGRATULATIONS! You have found nothing but a beautiful view." It's a nice little nod to players who treat the world map as a "coloring book" (as the devs put it on Twitter when I posted a 100% exploration screenshot and tagged them in it) and drive everywhere just to see it all.

I think having to play the game to get footage of the achievement might have caused some stress. I'm rather amazed the Monster Prom one didn't include the achievement you get for buying a tampon for a secret ending. It was TOTALLY WORTH IT in the end, but boy that one haunts my record sheet like a non-sexy ghost.

The HD remaster of Resident Evil 4 has both an achievement and trophy called don't shoot the water. It's awarded for shooting the lake enough times that it provokes the monster Del Lago to attack and swallow Leon whole.

My frustration is WHEN the achievements are displayed. It feels like every time I'm watching an important cut scene or I'm in the middle of an emotional beat that *ding* will sound and some achievement with a dumb name like "feeling yourself" will pop up and completely pull me out of the moment

And going back into your achievement list doesn't provide the same impact. Developers just need to delay the delivery of the achievement pop-up until the cut scene is over.

I feel like the " . . . I did it for the Achievement" Achievement in Yakuza 0 for watching one of the not exactly pornographic, but erotic videos at the video center counts for this kind of list. Especially since if you want to go for the Completionist achievement or just more Completion Points (which can net you some great in-game rewards), you have to do it anyway.

@@justinbuergi9867 the bubbles arent an effect for underwater, its to show where gas canisters are on the sea floor, hit with boomerang, shark eats that like he does the bait, use kaboomeranges and there you go... damage. I used cheats to bypass this level for the same reason until the internet was available to me to discover how to do it.

The real achievement in High on Life that was designed to mess with you is the "Mods please Ban," achievement, for its tracking frequently breaks and gets stuck at a certain percentage. Mine is currently stuck at 88% even though I've completed literally all forum challenges and have everything unlocked.

Nier Automata (Potato Potata) has a similar one that I got when the thing glitched out. On the space station, with the camera locked to a "side" view, she started doing a weird backdash thing repeatedly, and then the achievement popped up. Apparently that animation was supposed to be her trying to block the camera. Asura's Wrath has a similar one during the hot springs part where you are in first-person view, and can point the camera at the chest of a girl, something like "View of the mountains" or something. Didn't play that one myself, so I've only heard about it second-hand.

State of Decay 2 has an achievement for its Daybreak mode: Green Talon "Fail during the first wave in a session of Daybreak." Even if you're new to the game, you have to actually try to get this achievement. All it does is waste your time because you hardly get any rewards from failing this early.

Also I remember one 'achievement' from SMT: Strange Journey on the DS. The DS didn't have its own system for achievements, but some games included their own, and Strange Journey was one of them. One of these was an achievement for running into walls 225 times. SJ was fake-3D first person, and it's hard to judge how far away the wall is, so this was pretty easy to do. I think I got mine in the first dungeon. I think the actual achievement was named "Durability Testing".

As an Australian who lived the first ten years of his life next to a 10000 year old extinct volcano I can tell you that a "Thunder Egg" is what everyone I knew called a Geode. A rock filled with crystals. The very small volcano was called Mt Noorat and the crystals were always green for reasons you would need to ask a geologist about.

@@Darcnhife Hey, if you don't like it, I take no issue with that, I'll admit it's not perfect - the story ranges from nonexistent to nonsensical, for one thing. What I take issue with is being told I should be ashamed for even playing it. I enjoy playing it, it's my kind of game, a 3D collectathon platformer with some interesting and unique mechanics that wants me to just look around and find things instead of railroading me down a set path; I will not be shamed for liking what I like, no matter how "exalted" the person shaming me might be.

Makes me glad I have no desire to play High On Life. It's easy enough for me to get annoyed at NPCs or even the character I'm playing when they talk/mumble too much (Aloy...), so I don't need my firearms talking to me too. Tbf to the game knows how annoying that can be so as soon as it becomes more free roam the game pulls up two options for how often you want your companions/enemies to just say random shit at random times vs when its actually story relevant

Xenoblade Chronicles 1 has some funny achievements like this. There's "Heartbreaking" which you get for having a Heart-to-Heart go as badly as possible, "Time for New Glasses" which you get for missing an attack 100 times, "Phoenix" which you get for being wiped out 50 times, and "Terminal Velocity" which you get for dying by fall damage.

I loved the Ty the Tasmanian Tiger games. The humor was enjoyable, the gameplay was fun, the soundtrack was lovely, and I got to listen to people speak with Australian accents during the cutscenes. What's not to like? Then I had an unfortunate incident where I became sick immediately after playing the game one day. Even though it had to do with something I ate and not the game itself, my brain deemed it "guilty by association," and I was unable to play the game because it literally made me queasy whenever I did :( I wonder if it's been long enough now I could play it without that problem, or if my brain is still holding a misguided grudge...

No, watching a giant puppy poop green orbs is mostly accurate to the experience of having a puppy. Except the poop is not orb-shaped, and hopefully not green. One time it was the shape of the chunk of doorstop our dog had chewed, which was pretty funny in a schadenfreude sort of way.

Not really a skill based one, but "Skullmageddon's Curse" would fit this list even though you've already covered it before. You start up the game, and it's an achievement for 1 g telling you "finish what you started!"
