For me, Josh is just the best online bass teacher. I was on the BaseBuzz course about a year ago and I enjoyed every minute of it. It was just like having a (hilarious) friend who's teaching and motivating you all the time. I attended several courses (bass and guitar) but this one was by far the best. Haven't had so much fun learning since. Wish he would start another bass or guitar course. Highly recommended. Greetings from Hamburg!

I agree. I was watching his videos kind of out of boredom last January while on a business trip. I didn’t have a bass and only had played the drums many years ago. And now I’m pretty baffled at how far I’ve gotten. He’s super chill and doesn’t have any habits I’d consider annoying.

Josh continues to deliver. All I can say is - DO IT! I picked up the bass for the first time (at age 62) just after New Years 2022 and began the Beginner to Badass journey one year ago this week! I really enjoyed it, played 30-45 minutes every day and worked through most of the course in a couple of months. Folks at church asked me to try out for worship team training shortly thereafter. After 4 months of practicing with the team every Thursday evening (with a great bass mentor coaching me between songs), I was on stage playing full services. I will be paying it forward this year coaching our newest bass player on the team. I'm on the schedule to be on stage 5 events this month and loving it. No way I could have done it that quickly and capably without the excellent, engaging and fun way Josh teaches you the bass (plus of course, lots of time practicing and regularly playing with other musicians and vocalists).

Just started Bass 2 days ago. I am 57 and decided it was time to start following my dream of playing bass after I lost a close family member.. lesson learned that life is short, so don't wait for the right time! I have a cheap 2nd hand bass, and though not perfect, it's a starting point that wouldn't have happened if I had waited to get myself a new or better quality bass. I've badly played for half of that time, including in studios and in churches around the world. I always knew that I was able to play okay but wasn't doing anything structured. So I eventually quit because other players seemed to have it locked in. Just watching Josh's videos since the end of 2022 rekindled my desire to play again and so I'm heading straight to the course. Not sure which one is best for someone like me but I'll figure it out! Best of luck with your bass adventure 👍🏼

Just my own quick interjection on the "Day 5" portion: Sight reading sheet music is a blessing and a curse: Everything you need to play a piece is there, and there is so much beautiful music in sheet. But too much time relying on it can cripple you creatively. When I was actively playing (for 18 or so years), I could sight read anything, but take away the paper, and I just couldn't get my mind around the idea of improvisation... brain went blank, and my bass (which I played for years) felt like a completely alien thing. Took me years to understand why and undo the bad habits that over reliance on sheet music can cause. Learn to read the sheet, but don't let it become a crutch. This video series has, and indeed this channel, reinvigorated my will and desire to pick up my axe again!

I just wanted to thank you.. I started to play Bass in High school in mid 80's.. Yes, I'm old but got to see all the cool bands! Continued to play all the way to the early 2000's then life took over getting married, career then eventually kid's which left me with no more time for anything. I put away all my old equipment in the closet for the next 20+ years. My daughter joined her High School choir and asked if she can get an acoustic guitar this past Christmas so she can learn how to play & join guitar class next year. That just brought something out of me & for the past few weeks I've been pulling out all my old equipment out of my son's closet. I discovered your channel looking at reviews for a small practice bass amp since I have an old Carvin 150 Amp with cabinet but it takes up too much room and too heavy. Saw your reviews on the Fender Rumble amps BUT discovered so much more in your channel. You are the best online bass teacher and make it simple for beginners or even old guys like me who haven't picked up a bass in 20+ years.. @@Andrononymous Hey. Sure do. You might wanna check Scott's Bass Lessons channel too. They have some pretty good lessons for starters as well. Just wanted to chime in and say that Josh is an awesome teacher and his course, like this video, is first rate. I'm a total bass noob and he has the unique ability to communicate lessons with clarity infused with humor so even a middle-aged beginner like me can understand and progress. The course really is fun, while also being challenging, but he actually encourages you within the lessons, and urges you to keep pushing forward. These KZbin videos tie in great with the course -- you can learn from them individually, but still incorporate into the lessons from the course just to mix things up a bit. He always makes it fun, even with the hard stuff. I find that his consistent presentation and video style really helps me learn... other online courses feature different teachers in different settings, and for me, that really threw me off while trying to learn... Thanks Josh for all your efforts, it's greatly appreciated. Now if I could just get my pinky to stretch a little bit farther...

I've had the privilege of learning the very basics of bass from one of the best bassists of all time, Bakithi Khumalo. I became his assistant and driver, in 2019/20, and was able to get started on the bass. I'm even "rapping" on his latest album. During the pandemic, we lost touch with each other as far as consistent lessons are concerned, but we are still good friends and sometimes do video chat lessons. Josh is thee ONLY online bass teacher that follows everything BK has taught me and is a true bassist with finger discipline and technique. Plus I LOVE the music selection of all the rock classics! YES! However, the very best part of BassBuzz is Josh himself. Super fun and nerdy musician cool, not to mention very handsome (heart eyes) . I don't see a ring on his fretting hand, and so ...yeah. Josh, that's it...take my money i.e. I'm taking your course. I learned to play by ear decades ago and so, can't read notes for the life of me and probably have EVERY bad habit in both the written and unwritten books on how to play the bass 😏 From bad finger techniques to a pinky that might as well not exist on my hand. So, at my ripe age I'm now going to totally unlearn and relearn how to play the bass properly through your course. I am talking decades of unlearning but I know I can do it because your free videos alone have improved the way I think about my bass playing. Great job and keep being you 👍🏼
