Surprised the Full Members’ Cup was not included. Some great finals and actually brought about bigger attendances than a few League Cup finals. Was also Brian Clough’s final honour as a manager.

Great to see Anglo Italian Cup getting a mention. A tournament set up, pretty much because Swindon were barred from playing in Inter Fairs Cup due to being 3rd division team (though they got promoted the same year as beating Arsenal) And then they only went on to beat Juventus and Napoli in winning the whole thing! Amazing times!

I'd already known of the Mitropa Cup for several years before watching this video you know. I'd known that the Mitropa Cup was the forerunner to the European Cup. I found out about the tournament during a history of football documentary I'd watched on KZbin several years ago.

Glad to see the watney cup. My grandad and great grandad went to the Derby v United game to watch United. Still have the programme along with hundreds other United programmes. It's one of the most valuable programmes we have alongside United v maradonas Barcelona from 1984 European cup winners cup. Where we beat Barcelona 3-0 my dad was behind the goal in the Stretford end

Growing up, I remember watching the Umbro cup, Carlsberg cup, Tornoi de France, US cup, King Fahad Cup( now the Confedrations cup) Back then there were a lot of international tournaments and the games were very competitive. Ahh memories. Now everyone hates the international break lol.

Sadly on the very day this video came out. 4 times Mitropa Cup winner Pál Berendy had passed away. As a member of Vasas (6 times winner) he was probably the most successfull induvidial inthe history of Mitropa Cup.

What about the Guinness Soccer Sixes, which could be seen as the predecessor to Masters Football? This had its peak years during the period when English clubs were banned from Europe, and therefore had the big clubs first teamers play in that tournament. And it was on the BBC as well.

Abot the Cup Winner's Cup being a strtraigh knockout tournament - before the Chamipon's league all 3 major European cup tournamens (Champion's Cup, the Cup Winners' Cup and th UEFA Cup) were strictly knockout all the way through. the first major European "cup" tournament to introduce the group stage was the CL (if we don't consider the Intertoto Cup a major one which had the group stage well before)

Could have give the Debenhams Cup a shout... Played twice, in 1977 and 1978 for the two teams outside the Top 2 Divisions who progressed furthest in the FA Cup... Chester beat Port Vale 4-3 over 2 Legs in 1977 and Blyth Spartans beat Wrexham 3-2 over 2 legs in 1978

Only a one off, but the Football League centenery cup is worth a mention, and not just because my team Nottingham Forest won it. It featured 16 teams playing an entire tournement at Wembley over 2 days. First day was 1st round and quarter final matches which were only 20 minutes each way, then day 2 had the semi finals and final which were 30 minutes each way. Forest beat Sheffield Wednesday on the final on penalties.
