While I agree with that people have used that kind of logic to invalidate my experiences as an Asexual and Aromantic person before I realized I was that and saying that the relationships that didn’t work because I was just doing it to fit in actually didn’t work because “ it takes time and a lot of work” and not that I just don’t feel romantic attraction

My girlfriend and I have only been dating for about two months now and we have such a strong connection and bond that's unexplainable. We don't have absolutely everything in common, but as soon as we're together we act as if we've been together for years. We very quickly became each other's "safety nets" and feel better whenever we're in the presence of one another. Despite us being together for two months, I love her so much Just had to let this out. I hope you have a great day, person reading this :)

For secrets and trust: yes it is important that you trust your partner, but it doesn't mean that you can't have boundaries! What I learned from my and my friend's experiences, is that you can have boundaries and still be trustful to someone. For example: you know that something will hurt you if you do it due to past experiences, and you can tell your partner that you don't want to do that thing, that it also a type of trust. Or, you don't want to talk about your abusive ex. You've healed from it, but you don't want to bring it to your future relationship, you CAN not tell your partner--but be truthful and kind about why you don't want to. Communicate it all, including things that you don't like or don't want to do

I can definitely relate to sign 3. I recently broke up with my bf cuz I was or still am going through a rough patch and I wasn't being the usual me that he wanted and had fun with. He told me I changed and he wants the old me back even though I explicitly told him I'm going through stuff. He loved the fun, pleasant side of me and freaked out when he saw the other not very fun nor pleasant one. It was a 3 month relationship, give or take, but it still hurt that he couldn't handle a week or 2 with less interaction. A period I understandably waited when he was feeling down himself. If it's not unconditional and reciprocatory, it's not worth it. + I absolutely love your videos!! They're just awesome!!! The script, the animated illustrations, the narration, not to mention how soothing her voice is to the extent I kinda want her to read me a bedtime story 🥺 Great work you guys, keep it going!

i do not suffer from a fear of intimacy i suffer from a fear of bonding and connecting with anyone because of the terrible things that happened a long time ago with all the people i was closest to. so i wreck anyones efforts to bond with me and if i can't do that than i just leave them cause all i see is people being nice to me for a little while only to turn their backs on me and drop me so i avoid that by leaving them before they turn on me which hurts them but i'm not as hurt seeing as how i know they were going to betray me or maybe already have betrayed me.

So I have an interest in a friend but she has no interest in dating at the moment but we play video games together, talk on the phone, tease each other and whatnot but we're in two different places. She likes being independent and doing her own thing. She says she doesn't really talk to people much but she's always messaging me be it for a couple days or we don't talk to each other for a few days and then message each other like nothing happened. I think she's a splendid person even though we can't really meet. We don't really have a bunch of conflict but we sure don't agree 100% on everything however we refuse to let that alter how we see the other person because we know that overall we care for each other (she tends to tell me I'm a great guy when I don't really feel like it and this conflicts internally because I have a hard time accepting positive things but I am so grateful for her regardless because I don't feel threatened by her)

Before I began dating my now husband my longest relationship had lasted for about 4 months. I found that after a short time things these people did began to annoy me. I was reluctant to go on the first date with my husband but my roommate convinced me to go. I did. We dated for 5 years and have been married for 31 years and have 2 children.. Is my husband perfect? Not even close. But I still love him for who he is. I still get annoyed sometimes but I can separate the person from the bad habit. I even miss his snoring when he's not here! I'm Fonn and posting on his phone. He is my friend. He was my lover for 12 ys. He makes me feel secure, but I put him in "the friend zone" because of his obsessive, possessive jealousy. Hes a shy guy and I'm a singer/musician. "Never shall the Twain shall meet". I'm learning to go do my gigs while he weeps and wails...(fill in the blanks)...hes so insecure he wont even go with me to be my bodyguard! He wants me to be close to him but because of all his negativity and criticisms I've had to get my own apt. and set up boundaries. Romantic relationships dont always work, especially with "sad-sackers".

There’s a girl I know who I feel like my friendship with her meets all of these. I’m not certain whether she finds comfort in it quite like I do but the rest of them apply at least. It’s not really in the cards right now, but I really hope I can move the relationship closer in the future.
@jackmemphis3203

How did it go? More often than not girls do not feel the same way in a platonic relationship. Guys tend to catch feelings from friendships with girls more often when its really just platonic to the girl.
@jedimario8860
@jedimario8860 Жыл бұрын
@@jackmemphis3203 It’s complicated but you’re pretty much right. However, a while back she both started and ended a long distance relationship with me, and when I’ve talked with her more seriously on the subject since, her response was basically “I don’t know how exactly I feel about you, so assume I just like you as a friend,” which is probably the most wishy washy friend zone ever. She knows very well how I feel about her, and it doesn’t seem like she reciprocates, but we’re very close friends anyway, and she doesn’t mind at all if I say anything that could be construed as a bit mushy or flirty. So take that for what it’s worth. Platonic is a safe assumption, but the she’s also made no effort to hide her uncertainty. I’ll be fine either way, she’s a fantastic friend to have so I can’t really complain.
@jackmemphis3203
@jackmemphis3203 Жыл бұрын
@@jedimario8860 i mean if you are fine with having that kind of a friend then you do you. Sounds like more agony than its worth though. That is the most wishy washy friendship ive heard of. Friendship aside, it sounds like in her mind, she keeps you as a backup plan in case she cant find another guy. You just arent that attractive to her for whatever reason and she thinks she can do better. Maybe she cant do better though and just has high expectations. Its so easy for women to get a guy to smash though, so shes out there spinning plates, playing with her options. You might be the best choice for her eventually, but not until she gets ran through a few times at least.

I can relate to no. 4, trusting each other, I feel that the relationship is going to a high level when my friend shares sth embarassing to her with me, but she feels more comfortable after that bc she released it

Resolve Conflicts: Haven't been in the relationship long enough to see this play out, but I'm very confident we can do this well. We're content with doing virtually whatever we want, and our mutual indecision makes disagreements few, far between, and easy to resolve. However, my gf is ex-friends with one of my two closest friend groups, and I know that will inevitably need to be resolved. Compromise: We've nailed this flawlessly so far. We always split bills on dates and alternate between our friend circles in lunch. Will probably be put to the test by the aforementioned friend politics, but I think we have the right mindset to handle this. Unconditional Love: My family and I believe in a concept of "conditional love" with very small conditions (just don't be an evil person). In practice, it's basically unconditional love with common sense, so I consider this a success. Trust Each Other: Besides trusting each other to keep up the fundamentals of a relationship (ex. showing up to dates, not cheating on each other, etc.), which we have a perfect track record, there aren't many times where this is even a factor. We're still high school sweethearts, and neither of us or our families are in desperate need of support. I guess trusting each other's driving also counts? Be Kind: We sometimes tease each other, but at the end of the day we're both just cuddle bugs! Seek Comfort: Again, we're just cuddle bugs! Besides literally, this hasn't really been put to the test yet - nothing extremely overwhelming has happened to either of us yet. Independent: We're both extremely content with doing whatever, and this often leads to a lot of indecision. Think situations like this: "Where do you want to sit?" "Wherever you want to sit" "I don't care" "Me neither". Besides this cute little loop that a friend usually has to break, we can both be extremely decisive when needed.

"Unconditional love with common sense" is a really good philosophy. I'd say I love my partner unconditionally, but if he started doing bad things, all that trust and comfort would go away. But he's not the type of person to ever so anything bad so I don't think there will ever be a problem

This seems like sound advice overall. If it wasn't said clearly in the video, these things should come pretty naturally. Relationships do take effort, but if these things come easily for both people, it's a good sign. In my experience, if both people are kind to each other and care about each other because they feel that way naturally, nothing will ever get in the way of the relationship.

my relationship is good with my partner. although we might seem boring and dead because we dont want marriage children or to move in together we are happy as are. he's patient with me as i have asbergers and other issues and yet he asks nothing in return. he's not socially attractive basically a chunky nerdy metal head whos a big teddy bear. but i like and love him. we trust each other. he has his life and i have mine but we meet up when we are free, we are like best friends but a bit extra. pre covid we went on holiday once a year and is the only time we sleep in the same bed as i cant stand sharing a bed (and no we dont get physical). but alway do what works and whats comfortable. and never try to please social norms. i'm glad to have him but i can be without him until we are both free. and we've been together i thnk 8 or 9 years
