OK Nico. I’m just going to say it. It’s time. With your time and your ability and your huge cahones flying in complex weather situations, icing etc. it’s time for you to move on. Malibu, Mirage, something pressurized. Cabin class. Faster. It’s time. Do it.

I have been living the dream through your videos for the past 6 years. I don't know if you remember but I commented on one of your videos a long time ago about how I lost my 3rd class medical certificate back in 2016. After a 6 year battle with the FAA and going through hell and back I'm ecstatic to report that today I got the FAA's blessing and finally got my 3rd class medical certificate issued. Next up is going for my ppl license. Thanks for keeping us entertained with all of your videos. God bless!

Foxie Dog even has her own aviator hat and scarf, Snoopy has nothing on her, lol. She rides in her car seat where we stick any back packs in the Cessna 2 seater. The Piper is 4 seats and he just got a new-er engine for it in April from my brother in law in Marana Arizona. We went out there for a bit. Your video work (as your flying) is reaching new levels of interest and real-life detail. You’ve developed a knack for storytelling, especially focusing on general aviation as it contributes to your business and personal life. Well done. I used to watch FlightChops, however I’ve lost interest (as others I know) with his repeated “tail wheel” and “warbird” stories done repeatedly while he mooches off vendors that have nothing to do with the core of his presentations. Makes no sense to me! If any of the vendors are watching this creator, this is the type of person whose real world flying actually influences us, not the former. Just a hint! Good job Niko!

Niko, love the. Ideas. I’ve had a turbo cirrus for 10 years and still frustrated by hot starts. Based out of SoCal and almost didn’t get it started with my wife after having lunch on Catalina Island last week. Ugh…. Ended up having flood it and do a flooded start. Do you have a favorite hot start technique for a heat soaked engine? It’s the worst 0.5 to 2.0 hrs after landing. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks! Dave
@NikosWings
@NikosWings 2 жыл бұрын
If it’s really hot out there and no wind, between 0.5 to 2 hours as you said are almost impossible to start. One thing that has worked when that happens, and you get zero fuel flow, open the throttle to full and mixture rich and run the boost pump and if needed the prime. Then, take your fuel sump and drain the gascolator until you get fuel flow (you’ll hear the pump grabbing fuel). Then hope in and start using hot start procedure. - throttle open - mixture cutoff - pump off - crank while bringing mixture slowly up - when it sparks mixture rich and boost pump on and retard the the throttle sumulteously
@davidburshtan578
@davidburshtan578 2 жыл бұрын
That’s great! Thanks so much for the reply. Everyone has a different way of doing it. Your method makes sense. Out here in CA I’m nervous about stopping for more than a half hour on the ground because of hot start concerns. I’ll give it a try in next day or two. I really appreciate the advice as I know you are faced with hot starts frequently.👍

Good luck! I hope it goes smooth. I’m sure you know how it is…you never want to see your passengers see you concerned. Ha! On Catalina there is no mechanic, FBO or Plan B. I was really concerned about draining battery. My wife started to cry as she worried about being stranded on the island. I remained calm (on the outside at least). I’m excited to try the new technique!

Enjoyed this long flight, I'm interested how much prep time you do for a flight of this length ?🇬🇧

Honestly not much other than watching the weather and having an idea of where to stop for fuel. Typically fuel stops are decided last minute based on route, distance, price, services, fuel availability, and other factors like food, transportation etc…

You seem to do a lot of traveling by plane all over the country. Don’t you think, the Cirrus Jet would be the way better choice for you to do this kind of flying? For your business. Also a great family plane.

@@NikosWings well I thought about the DA62, but no parachute and in range close to the G2 Vision jet. But the fuel burn is a bargain. So at the end you do ok with your SR 22 I guess.
@NikosWings
@NikosWings 2 жыл бұрын
The DA62 is about same speed or a tiny bit slower, lower ceiling, no parachute, 2 engines double the maintenance and very expensive insurance unless you have tons of multi time, and needs bigger hangar or FBO hangar. The bargain is cheaper fuel and more availability of fuel globally but not in the US as much but it still burns more fuel than the Cirrus overall. It is a beautiful airplane though, but the Cirrus is too.

Limoni, IA...one of my usual fuel stops between TX and MN. KAPA is also great, but I usually go into Boulder, which is a really nice vibrant airport right adjacent to the Front Range. Any temptation to hit Leadville while in the neighborhood?
