mmm I feel like caning could be used for violent crimes but it’s excessive for none violent crimes. The excuse that it’ll prevent future crime is the same excuse used in the U.S during the war on drugs, where people would get lengthy sentences for drug possession. Also it’s gross to say it’s fine just because you aren’t from there, “you should know the laws for places you travel to” okay and what about all the citizens. If it’s used for cases of vandalism, do they do it on juveniles? Where is the line drawn?
