But here is the real kicker you might want to brush up on this stuff @Daniel Morgan if you enter any kind of shopping Center, big grocery stores, government buildings, courts of law you are supposed to remove your so called legal knife as you can get prosecuted. You can actually get prosecuted even in the open air if they so desire I know sounds like bollocks but just do a little search or ask a lawyer that deals with the bullshit laws around this and it will make your fucking head hurt! The crazy part is even if you’re fully within the law it’s down to the police officers own discretion about your knife if they think it looks aggressive then they can and will confiscate it from you. Yeah that’s right you can have a spyderco ukpk on you and the copper that stops you can look at it and if he deems it aggressive then good fucking bye knife. Also the offensive weapons act states you must have reasonable excuse to carry in a public place a knife that isn't non locking with a cutting edge under 3", Nowhere does it say it has to be part of work equipment, Going fishing or Bush crafting for example is reasonable excuse. To comply with UK law a knife must be manual opening (as opposed to automatic or spring-assisted) . There is a number of ways in which knives can legally assist with manual opening., including the thumb stud, Spyderco round hole (UKPK), Nail Nick and the flipper. There are many restricitions, but none around one or two-handed opening. Locks are a big no-no for EDC. Not illegal, but have to be justifiable e.g. carrying one for work is OK if you are working in a public place, but carrying one in your pocket while shopping after work would not be regarded as justification.

Thats how a pocket clip is supposed to be on #1!! I think its crazy how many people prefer pocket clips with little to no tension. Idk maybe alot of people dont actually carry gear on them daily? Or if they do they dont do much in way of physicality so as to not really worry about losing their gear? Or maybe i am in the minority that spends more (much, much more) on my toys than i do pants/jeans cuz i PREFER clips that have maximum tension that snap down with force and if it starts chewing holes thru my jeans so be it that is just evidence of it doing its job if you ask me which nobody did but still its not hidden knowledge that knife and flashlight etc. Companies create products with at least some influence from the consumer public and if the vast majority of people are saying they prefer pocket clips that dont actually "clip" anything to anything, more of a pocket rest, but then eventually clips are going to be limper and looser as time gos on and that = a bad thing. Just sayin...
@NeevesKnives3 жыл бұрын
It wasn't bad because it had tension it was bad because it had no ramp to go into the pocket, so the only way to get it on your pocket is to use your nail and pry it up, a good clip has tension but it also goes into your pocket nice and smooth, even clips with heavy tension do that with a proper ramp

I'm finding factory made 14C28N steel knives are heat treated too soft around 55 to 57. I have a Bear Ops where they claim it is HRC 58-60 hard, no it isn't even 58 because I made a bunch of hardness scratchers when I was a heat treater for a machine shop and my 57 scratches it. Dr. Larrin Thomas recommends it at 61-62 with good toughness and only custom makers offer it at that hardness. It is tough enough to put a 15 degree edge on, but at 56-57 hard it will fold over. Just like 440C, they're taking a good steel and turning it into scrap by heat treating it wrong.
