And everybody even my girlfriend got fed up with ME and thought I’d never settle for one thing because I wanted to try everything! Well, after going through trial and error in fields that I gave up on, little do they know I’ve been picking up skills like bread crumbs as I progressed. I appreciate the eye opener Dan. I didn’t realize how much experience I actually have until now.

Wow I relate to this so much. All my life since my teens I’ve tried and failed to build businesses. I never took the conventional route and people would look down on me for trying so many things and never following through with anything. I recently dropped out of college after 3 years and the first thing people would ask me is if I regretted going to college and “wasting” so much time and money. They’re always confused when I tell them I have no regrets at all and am happy I went for those 3 years. I was going to college for film and realized eventually that I don’t want to work in the film industry. However I learned so many valuable skills like advanced editing which I was able to do freelance for a bit last summer. I want to start a KZbin channel so that will be useful for that as well. I’m taking a year off this year and in that time I’ve started two businesses which I’ve failed at over and over but one of them is starting to make me some money now. People have always told me to focus on one thing and stop starting so many different projects and businesses. I’m happy now that I never stopped and this video gives me even more reason to keep going. I’m only 21 and can’t wait to see what my future holds. :)

Your story inspires me as a young teenager! I too want to fail and make mistakes but the fear just keeps me inside my comfort zone, but knowing and reading your story has made me want to push for it and just go for it. I wish you the best of luck in the future to what you do as well.

Your story is so similar to mine it's crazy, except.. I went in the wrong direction for 17 years. No matter your age, history, or impediments, every day is a chance to turn it all around. If you want a more valuable life, make yourself more valuable. You aren't stuck. Thanks Dan.

Can totally resonate with your story (not the success part haha... Yet). I always questioned everything and did the opposite to what everyone was doing. I even have an e-commerce business with a product making some money since 2017, but I don't have a passion for it and I let it go (self sabotage). Looking for something else at the moment. I tried so many things in my life (different jobs and businesses ideas) and I still haven't found IT yet! The worst thing is that no one understands you and my wife gave up on me having a successful business and tells me to move on with my job. Your story gives me a hope that one day I'll succeed as well. Cheers!

I got started later than you but I went through the same thing. I tried Web Dev, Dropshipping, Graphic Design, Marketing Agency, Courses, Publishing, Coaching, KZbin Automation, and now I just have a job as a marketer using the skills I learned. I'm starting to build a new audience though and going to the next phase to sell digital products. Really trying to do something I enjoy, otherwise I won't put in 100%

When I was a teenage, one of the things I loved to do is to dig out lesser known post-punk/no wave/new wave bands. These genres of music were not so popular in China, I could really use the English skills I got in school (finally, not for exams but for my passion) to search in the ocean of English content. Similarly with digging out other things, films, books, designs, artworks, I just love searching, learning and connecting the dots. As a medical doctor, I never thought this trait would have anything to do with my future career, until now the passion landed on digital creation. Thanks for sharing:)

When I was in college and then at university I just went with the flow, completely didn't think about the time that was just passing and I would waste so much time... I wish I had such attitude and awareness as yours at that time. Now I am a 38-year dude, doing IT contracting, but without running any real business. For the last few years I have been only dreaming about it, but hasn't got down to actually working on it. High time for doing it for real and hopefully persisting in overcoming all the failures on the way :)

Hello Dan! I just found your channel a week ago and I feel like I am understanding more about my own motions and disire/values in my life. I feel like I am tired all the time even trough I feel like I am on the right path with what I chose to do now in college, wich is getting my BA in Communication. I am an older student (29) and in my second year. I feel a little bit like you did going to college, it moves me a little away from having to work right now. I do appriciate what is being thought, but I find it not narrow enough to see my future. In the weekdays I sometimes have trouble getting trough my classes and projects, because it feels to chaotic and all over the place. The same with people. I do not know how to share my value, what I really want to try as a job. I am currently prioratizing time for myself, my health and quality time with my boyfriend. Would you have any tips or advice for someone who is ready to have a calmer life? I do want to settle on something in the Communication field, so I will have a focus and can build an audience, or at least a name of a person that does .....

Dan I'd love to hear your take on whether going to college equates to a successful life or can someone just keep on improving their skillsets and make a success out of those skills. I'm passionate about starting an online business which is risky and getting a degree is safe, but I'm not really in the mood or passionate about going to college.

It's not necessary in the slightest if you have the drive, time, and consistency to make online biz work. Even if you "fail" and have to get a job, most modern skills that you would use to build your business can get you a job without a degree

Skills are recessions proof brotha 💪🏻 choose a industry you’re passionate about, look at your current skills, and find a service business that incorporates those, and gives you more more to learn about everyday. This is sorta a bummer. Hear me out. I watch movies and see families and kids happy, I never head that. I hear ppl like you who figured out something when you were young, not me. Do you know, you probably don't and can't relate but maybe someone here does and can relate. I feel like I'm smart enough to know that I'm too dumb to even figure out what I want let alone how to do it.
