1. Wisdom is realizing what you can and can't control. 2. Your emotions depend on your expectations. 3. Right perception leads to right action. 4.Your relations will make or break your life. 5.Being attached to what people think of you will rob you of your potential. 6.Your values determine whether your internal life is peaceful or stressful. 7. The stoics are great reads and can be beneficial but the issue ive found with stoicism is it is in a constant state of relative half life. Content but not full. And that idea can only work amidst a state of affluence. Its good for a sense of gratitude, but you can only be grateful relative to the graces youve been granted. Theres a sense of sadness to it and lack of purpose. Pursuit of highest fulfillment is what lifts all boats and is the highest good.

What about Epictetus who was a slave? Also Seneca was exiled, and I don’t think being the emperor of Rome (Marcus Aurelius) is necessarily a good grace, it’s a lot of responsibility-it’s a huge weight on the shoulders. It’s all good though if the Stoics don’t have an effect on you. I’ve personally found a lot of truth in their words
@IIIUMlNATI3 жыл бұрын
@@FreedominThought no for sure, there definitely is. Thats why theyre famous works that have survived through the ages. I think you'd really take an interest in some of the christian theology as well (almost no one provides an accurate reading of the philosophy) but you might like bishop robert barron. He does great work too. You should give him a listen. Keep up the insightful videos mate. 😄👍

Robert Greene and Jordan Peterson would argue against being yourself though. You can't be yourself in society, you need to wear a mask. Also, if you are thinking about going places in life, being yourself is not the right way to go. Instead, you should improve yourself, your skillset and try to reach your full potential.
