We take a look at Michael Jordan playing for the washington wizards against the greatest nba players of all time like shaquille O'Neal, allen Iverson, Vince Carter, Tracy Mcgrady and more.
Michael Jordan is the goat.
reason number 1 are michael jordans fundamentals. I cant say it often enough. when a player reaches his mid 30s, thats when you can see how good they actually are. If your game relise mainly on athlethism you are going to be in trouble once father time calls you.
You can see this with many superstars, that dont even average 10 points in their 30s. And this again is something where Michael Jordan
is outstanding. We have to remember he came back to play for the wizards after he sat out 3 entire seasons, and still he was able to average more
than 20 points at age 38/39/40.
He was sensational fundamentals, was always positioned right, and this was a major reason why mjs game was almost as good as in his early 30s.
and the next reason was michael jordans go to move. his fade away jumpshot. just like kareem abdul jabbar had his sky hook,
jordan developt a deadly post game and his fade away jump shot.
the combination of strength and footwork was almost unguardable. Jordan was even able to post up bigs with this move and still score.
when you know whats coming and you still cant defend it, then you know that the move is special.
And the good thing was that this move would work no matter the age.
And the next reason is michael jordan basketball Iq.
Now its a known fact that jordan was one of the smartest basketball players of all time. And naturally the older you get, the smarter you have to play. and this again was something that mj perfected. he would choose his shots more wisely, and on defense he would see things before they even happened.
This is why he was still avg 1.5 steals at age 40. Also I would like to add that he would take his time, not rushing anything . He knew that he could not outran anyone at that stage of his career. But he could outsmart them and get his opponets exactly where he wanted them.
And the next reason why michael jordan still ruled at age 40 was his Confidence.
When Jordan came back to play for the wizards, he still had the mindset of a winner. he still believed that he was the best player in the nba.
And you could see this confidence in his style of play. Jordan demanded the ball, would run isolation plays, and would also trash talk the younger
players on the opposing teams. And this confindence helped him to cause fear in the eyes of his opponents. but more on that later.
And the next reason is Jordans all around game. Now if you werent around at that time, and never saw jordan play in his heyday, you might think
that jordan was just a scoring machine. But MJ always prided himself in being a complete basketball player. And this did not changed when he played for the wizards.
If we take a look at the numbers you will see that jordan was putting up solid numbers in every major category. He would rebound, he would pass,
just like a alrounder should. So even when he had a game where he would not score much, he was able to put some other numbers on the statsheet.
And this just shows what type of a basketball player jordan was.
And the last reason was , the fear factor. If you are a jordan fan then you know that many player feared michael jordan when he was playing for the bulls.
guys literaly praying the night before the game that jordan would not embaras s them. fast forward many years later when jordan was playing for the wizards, and most players still where afraid of jordan. this resultet in guys being so nervous that they had off nights against mj. I talked to many players of that era, and it was a known fact that the fear of mj was huge. So MJ, if guys feared you when you were age 40, you did everything right.
michael jordan, michael jordan chicago bulls, michael jordan washington wizards, michael jordan nba, best of michael jordan, michael jordan highlights, nba legends on michael jordan, shaq on michael jordan, michael jordan trash talk stories, michael jordan the last dance michael jordan documentary, nba open court new episode, john starks, michael jordan 2021,top 75 nba players, nba 75 best players of all time, old school vs new school nba, dennis rodman, charles barkley, shaquille O'Neal, NBA Legends on Michael Jordan,

Many try to use the Wizards years as a knock against MJ. It’s actually the opposite. The fact that a 40yr old was able to play against and get the better of the all star players in their mid 20’s is outrageous. And one can only imagine what he woulda done to the 2000’s superstars if he were 5-10yrs younger.

Ron Artest breaking his rib along with Knee problems hinder him. I believe MJ would've had the Wizards in the playoffs in 01 had he not had his knee injury. That would've been something given the Wizards were still a young team. Speaking of that fanbase, If MJ wanted to he could've went to LA and join Kobe, Shaq and reunited with Phil to play the 3 in order to chase two more titles like a certain someone who recruits superstars but have the team sitting at 10-11 right now.

The Wizards at the Allstar break were the 3rd seed in the East and a top 5 defensive team in the entire leauge. Then MJ hot injured and was on minutes restriction for a lot of the remaining season, he even missed 20 games. The Wizards then proceeded to fall out of the playoffs and even fell to the bottom 10 defensively in the leauge.

I wonder how MJ did in his physics and math classes, his ability to read the continuous changes on the angle of release is nothing short of a math genius. This also applies to Kareem’s skyhook, sometimes he had to shoot down.

Have been an MJ junkie since the 90s and now since I've graduated from university with a degree Psychology, I don't look at him the same, as in just a physical specimen of greatness. He has the total package and I heard in one obscure interview that he's particularly good at math and/or science.

I’m from Ireland. Lived in DC for 3 years coincidently while MJ was back playing. Went to watch him in the ‘MCI Centre’ every other week when I could, after a few beers (underage at the time haha) in Fados Bar in China town. Absolutely Privileged! And I still never miss a Wiz game with my NBA TV subscription now that I live back home! Not too many Irish Wiz fans, but it’s a great time to be one again!. Love the content on here! Keep it comin!

Nice material but lacks some facts: 1. Michael lost his leaping ability, fought with injuries, but he did not lost his reach. He had perfect body for basketball when thinking of size and reach. 2. His mits. His hands played huge role all his career. 3. His eye to hand coordination. This is something you can train but can't exceed your natural limitations. Other players like Ginobili or Iguodala had pretty nice coordination too, which helped them in later years in league. 4. His work ethic. At the beginning of your video there was some talk about fundamentals. The most basic fundamental is to be physically ready. He was 3 years off the league but returned looking good. He was always obsessed about being in possibly best shape for the game. Be ready both physically and mentally.

I absolutely agree with you about MJ coming back. He... wasn't quite the same as he was. But he was still an excellent player that absolutely deserved to be on the court; no doubt about that. By coming back, he made a lifelong dream come true for all of the younger players. In my opinion, that helped cement his legacy rather than harming it. Maybe not with the fans, but with the next generation of ball players. They're getting told he's not as good, but then he still drops 40 points if you piss him off. Coming back is part of what made sure he would never be forgotten.

It annoys me when people keep acknowledging: "yes, that's because the great fundamentals that he had" as if they know the game so much and know exactly what they say. NONSENSE! He had great skills, very quick reactions and first step, knew the game very well and being very intelligent and determined could play very well using his big hands. Soo many experts saying about all these fundamentals they have no clue. I, being in my forties still have a super fast first step and the young boys have to react to it no matter what, and if you shot well then you keep scoring. No argument, MJ is the goat and my favourite of all time. Definitely had fundamentals polished but come on, don't just repeat this to sound like you are a basketball expert. 🤯

The fundamentals were what kept MJ effective. He was a shadow of his former version. Not even half the player he was yet so great that he could still score and dominate. Unfortunately, today the fundamentals are non-existent and now folks are starting to realize this specifically younger guys. With the rule changes you Harden and few others struggling a bit. Reason why is there game is lacking fundamentals. My hope is we get away from today’s version of basketball. It’s not basketball, it’s AAU. Like watching a professional farm league. Lastly, this old version of MJ would of scored more in today’s era. Forget about young or prime MJ, the old MJ would be a problem today. And that’s with the bent and messed up index finger on the shooting hand.

1999 MJ: Age 36. sliced his index finger of shooting hand into Half, was gonna miss the shortened 1999 season any way. STAYED RETIRED. 2000 MJ: Age 37. STAYED RETIRED. 2001 MJ: AGE 38. STAYED RETIRED. 3 years of RETIREMENT, a true BREAK from pro, amateur Bball and competitive sports. (1994 MJ was chasing fly balls in outfield). Helped his aging body (accesory muscles, bones, tendons, ligaments, joints FULLY recover). ..........................BUT 2002 MJ: AGE 39. Artest broke MJs ribs. freak in-game knee injury by fellow teammate. father time Jordan injuries truly starts. Misses MVP race and another full 82 games season and misses 2002 playoffs. 2003 MJ: AGE 40. Plays finals FULL 82 games season. Had MJ continues instead of comeback in 2002...... He would've still missed WHOLE SHORTENED 50 GAMES 1999 season because of index finger completely severed by cigar opener. 2000 would've been another injury ridden season for 37 yrs old MJ......very much similar what we see from 37 yrs old LBJ season of 2022. 37 yrs old MJ would've retired in Summer 2000 for good......this time no comback post-9/11......Bball would be fully out of MJs system. I dont see MJ playing as Bull without Coach Phil and a championship condender team in Bulls for long.

What do you think about the BSOLZ video about this basketball page. In summary, BSOLZ thinks this basketball page is bias towards players of the 90's and 80's.

Ppl forget that the great MJ was pres.of🏀operations for the wizards. He was trying to get ppl to come to the games, what better way than to get his"airness"to suit up! Anyway to try to discredit the great MJ, keep trying.......6RINGZ!!!!!

If the 3pt was as relevant in MJs era as it is today he would have knocked down 3-4 a game.

@@jessiegomez8209 yeah your right, true he could hit that many, but with defensive moves in the modern day and MJs determination and skill set he'd get to rim a lot easier so he wouldn't need to take shots from deep.

Of course Jordan had great fundermental and talent, but It is not fundamental, it is his big hand, that's gifted when you play basketball. when you own a big hand you can almost do anything on those moves, fakes, dunks. everybody has fundamental in NBA but no one got those big hands as Michael Jordan, Shaq has big hands, but his laziness and not taking care of his body ruined his career. otherwise he could break Jordan's records on all states basically.Jordan's success = super effort + BIG HANDS + talent + personality + will + Chicago team

Yes, we did. He showed that good fundamentals is the penultimate basketball skill every player has to possess.

7:20 should have known better. You steal or block MJs rock... You better have eyes in back of your head when you get back down the other end. MJ feels responsible for his team and ain't going to create a turnover without trying to stop them scoring from it.

Unlike other superstars Jordan had two breaks in his career that helped his body. He would have been a different player if he played straight through his career without any breaks.

That's a big what if tho, he was really durable like Stockton and Lebron. Stockton missed about 20 games in his 19-year career. That's insane

Well...he could be like the stars of today and take days off or not play defense. They use that to extend their careers. I'd rather have the guy who always plays hard on both sides of the court every game. MJ played 80+ games almost every year. Lead the league in scoring and was 1st team defense every year.
