I have a 2021 Camry LE, base model that I bought on sale for $23.5K. This happened after my late wife’s Lexus ES350 at 100K miles lost a water pump and took out the engine. Lexus wanted 12,500 to fix a 7,000 car. At the time I considered the Camry to be the best car in the World, by far, when you make price a key factor. But I also had a chance to compare the Camry performance and drivability against the ES350. The Camry was always very close to the ES350. Its gas mileage was literally twice the Lexus on regular versus premium gas. And the Lexus maintenance costs are staggering. Three years later, I love the Camry and can hardly wait to drive it every day. By the way I bought a Camry station wagon in 1990 and had it for 27 years.

Yes Toyota makes a mistake by axing regular Camry , as right now they could still make 2.5 8speed not CVT sedan in LE trim for 26Kusd and it would be lot lighter , less complicated and more durable than this SUV heavy Hybrid Camry ...

You need to look at your trip summary on dashboard after you turn your engine off. I got 61.1 and 65.9 mpg in city. Watch your accelerations, go smooth and you will see the difference.

New to Toyota here. I bought my daughter a 2021 Toyota Corolla Hybrid. I liked it a lot. Fit and finish was great. However,, the Corolla is too small for me at 6'1". I liked very much that David mentioned that he likes to drive and that he appreciates sporty driving cars. Obviously gas mileage and all wheel drive is a huge plus at this price point. I'm looking for a commuter car with great gas mileage, fun to drive, comfortable, and a flawless fit and finish. Which trim level is recommended because it gets confusing. LE, XLE, XSE, etc. What is the best balance of trim-level or the best bang for your buck when it comes to the improved Camry?

LE has the exact same engine, always the best bang for your buck. The other models you’re paying for gingerbread like ventilated seats and moon roofs and other BS.
@holgerviel1949
@holgerviel1949 8 ай бұрын
@@sethtenrec Yes, it has the best fuel mileage too due to the smaller tires. I just saw what Car & Driver said about the 2025 Camry: The Camry's starting price is a bit higher than before because of the new hybrid-only lineup, but the base LE is cheaper than the previous-generation hybrid. Of the four models that Toyota will offer at launch, the LE has the highest fuel-economy estimates due to its smaller wheels, but we'd opt for the slightly sportier SE. It has a firmer suspension setup and more standard features, and it offers many of the most desirable add-ons-such as the larger infotainment screen and the more powerful all-wheel-drive powertrain-as optional extras.
@sethtenrec
@sethtenrec 8 ай бұрын
@@holgerviel1949 yeah C&D is OK, one of the best of a field of auto journalism sources that are in bed with the manufacturers. Larger infotainment screen means nothing to me, and the few extra horsepower are not going to be enough to make for the extra weight of AWD.

I want max range and max features... without having to pay extra to fix Toyota's mistake. ... such an insult to force 18 and 19 on us. David, The arrival of the AWD Camry Hybrid is overdue. My only concern relates to the supply of Hybrid batteries and powertrain components. For several years Toyota has been having difficulty matching Hybrid supply with demand so let's hope those days are over. 🤞🤞 In regard to the shifter, I cannot understand why Toyota alternates between normal gear levers and Prius-style joysticks, does anyone actually prefer the Prius shifter? 🤔 Finally, your 'micro-preview' of the Crown Signia's drive 0:12 needs to carry a caveat about the negative effects of those ridiculous 21" rims. Once again, I call upon Toyota Canada to offer us the Signia XLE with more reasonable 19" wheels as well as the ultra sensible Camry LE on 16" rims. 🤨

I don’t know which world you live in, but Toyota has raised price dramatically in recent years, maybe not as much as some domestic brands. The only reason Toyota gives more to the Camry is because sedans market is shrinking. They had to do something to stay relevant. I say this Camry is better than some current Lexus in the interior finishes. In terms of price, Toyota is overpriced in many of its new reveals, including land cruisers, Tacoma, Lexus gx and probably the new 4Runner. Because these models will sell no matter what. Toyota knows exactly what they are doing and what you will behave probably better than you know yourself

It does not look more expensive than a Crown but is quite a beautiful redesign. I have a Crown Platinum with Bronze Age Bi Tone paint and it’s looks intimidating in person because of its size, lift, and 21 in tires.

Looks good. I wouldnt mind a 2025 camry in that dark metal grey. However they should of made the sport version alittle different like they did on the 2023 . It had a different front bumper.

Does the new 2025 Camry have Auto Start/Stop? I don't see any button for it in the traditional location above the driver's left knee. Perhaps it's not needed due to the hybrid engine and its already great mileage?

There is not a start stop button on a hybrid. First of all, they don’t have a starter or an alternator. No need

Great video. I am probably going to buy a 2024 Camry. The 2024 Camry is the last year for the conventional 8 speed automatic transmission, which has a torque converter. 2024 is the last year for a Non-Hybrid Camry vehicle. The 2025 will only have a CVT type of transmission and a hybrid drivetrain. I am thinking of the long term outcome of the regular type of transmission verses the CVT type of transmission. CVT transmissions are very expensive to repair if the unit should ever need to be repaired. I really do not want to own a Hybrid vehicle. If I have to purchase a Hybrid it would only be from Toyota. They started assembling / engineering them for sale since 1997.

eCVT, not CVT. Despite the confusing name, hybrid eCVTs have no belts, chains or pulleys. They have drive motors and gearsets. The real question you should ask yourself is if you'd like to buy anywhere between 35% and 50% less gasoline for the same driving?

Adding the monthly payment increase of the hybrid + cvt + awd+ moonroof will more than nullify any fuel savings!! Looks like Toyota is making a cash grab in 2025!! Plus their interest rates have also taken a jump!! Could they have former bankers working for them?? Also looks like the LE and SE will be noisier and have the least comfortable seats!! To be comfortable and quiet we’ll have to move up to the most expensive x models!! Sooo I guess there’s NO 2025 Camry for me!!

The Toyota E-CVT is not related to a regular CVT like in a gas only car. It's bullet proof and will likely last longer than most torque converter transmissions. They use Toyota Hybrids as taxis and drive them hundreds of thousands of miles. I don't have one. I own a 2017 Camry XSE 4 Cyl with 6 speed automatic and think it's great, but I would buy a 2025 Camry without a thought if I decided to trade.

You should do more reviews! Yours are some of my faves. No BS and always straightforward information. Had a 2015 XSE V6 it was a snoozer except for the powerful engine, but what a great reliable powertrain. We'll see if this one is as reliable as the 7th generation was. 8th was meh in my opinion except cosmetically.

The 2025 Toyota hybrid in SE trim is $37,000. In XSE trim is priced at $42,220. Both tiers are way overpriced. Who is going to pay nearly $44,000 to save fuel money. When you can purchase a good used Toyota or Honda. For under 10K, which saves you $35,000!!

I love your reviews, thank you. My question is about entering and exiting the vehicle. I've been thinking about the Sportage as a more comfortable ride, but the milage is not nearly as good. I have owned a couple Prius models, but I'm in my 60s and they were too close to the ground. Also it snows here a few weeks out of the year. I just found this update on the Camry, and I am wondering if it might be a better fit.

David, you hit on driving fun, in a Camry! So this one is good for a Camry, what does it’s driving experience compared to other brands and models? What is the closest match? Has it lost the Toyota numbness? The Camry have been made to “look or appear sporty” but driving experience is usually missing entirely in my experience with rentals I’ve driven. Thanks 🙏

Great review! I was going to buy a new 2024 Rav4 but decided last week to wait for the 2025 Rav4 release…it will be interesting to see what you think of that new Rav4. I want to clarify however, you mentioned that the Camry was wireless Apple car play…then you said it wireless Android Auto. Are you sure it is wireless Android auto? I hope you are correct as it’s about time Toyota caught up with other manufacturers producing cars with wireless Android Auto.
