One thing I love about Range Rovers (and LandRovers in general) is there are no wasted lines. Nothing is unnecessary and there is always a link to their past cars. Japanese are always too busy in their designs and there is rarely any link to their historical cars. So they isolate their fans by changing things too much,. Subtle evolving is an underrated feature of Land Rovers. I wish Toyota and Lexus would learn this. On the other side of the coin though is the fact that the Japanese know how to make their cars reliable. I think the perfect scenario would be if Toyota bought Land Rover and taught them how to make their cars reliable.

Great review! Of course, all reviews are subjective and people like what they like and know why they like. All cars breakdown and need maintenance no matter the brand. I agree with your review completely. The Range Rovers are beautiful, elegant, and classy. However, they are even more expensive now that they are using BMW V8 engine, which they have used before and there were huge reliability issues. I hope it's better the second time around. I own a 2005 LR3 HSE that was purchased brand new. I have 250,000+ miles on it and it still looks great! I also own a 2021 Range Rover Sport Autobiography 5 Liter V8 Super Charged that I bought brand new. I love Range Rovers... the new ones. Both of my LandRovers are reliable. Get them serviced by the dealer and the car will take care of you. Same for Mercedes which I bought for over 20 years. Yes, it cost to keep them maintained. Don't buy if you just expect to put gas in it and change oil. If you put a lot of miles on these vehicles or any luxury vehicle including Lexus, it will cost you in maintenance. Drive less than 12,000 per year, and you will be fine with most new cars.

The V8 bmw engines are fraught with issues. In fact JLR has initiated a very large number of buybacks. That's why I stayed away and just purchased a brand new p400 with the ingenium engine 3.0. I was very pleasantly surprised with it's power and quiet nature and this is after coming from a supercharged L405. This engine has been around for a decade and they've worked through a lot of early issues. But I would stay away from the bmw engines--they're crap!
@mauricewilliams33452 ай бұрын
@@mak23997 Wise buy! I would do the same. Way too early to buy their vehicles with BMW V8 engine, unless you are a risk taker. :-). But again, hopefully, LR will have a better experience the second time around with BMW engines.

I enjoyed this review ! I wonder if many of the commenters above and below do any research on their own or just parrot what they hear 10 years ago like my parents. I know many, many RR owners who’ve had either no problems or problems common to any other brand . I’ve heard of many Tesla and rivian owners who’ve been stranded . Any car that leaves you stranded is a car not worth having . We call bmw and MB competitors only because of price. From a capability standpoint they don’t stand a chance bc most don’t even have a transfer case and can’t tow beyond 6000lb. While the new V8 is nice the old one was no slouch and likely as reliable as this new bmw import . I’d like to hear your opinion of the straight 6 as this is jaguar’s specialty and allegedly pretty good . Keep I mind , this vehicle never had 400+ hp and really doesn’t need to as no sane person would ever drive it >120mph . Who cares what the 0-60 time is or its top speed ? I care about what can it tow - 8200lb and what can it climb forwards and sideways .

see my comment above. Ingenium 3.0 is the one to get. The new bmw engines have had a lot of failures. Read the forums you'll quickly learn lots of issues. Also been taking our rover to an independent former rover master tech for years. He's the one that told me to stay away from the bmw v8. He said his dealer sources tell him JLR is buying back about 8 cars per month and that's just here in SoCal.

When I had one, it was all the things David says. It never went wrong, so I guess I was statistically lucky. It was very thirsty, although the engine does like to get up and go, so there's probably that to take into account. The fuel tank is huge, fortunately.

Having just taken delivery of a GX550 Overtrail + in atomic silver, I was surprised at how many people- strangers and friends - say WOW when they see it. The sheet metal work , angles and creases, overall shape and distinctive appearance are so much better looking in person and which videos and photos do not do it justice. All the haters coming out. We know that the reliability is not the best but guess what…Toyota and Lexus V6 TT are garbage. Tacoma transmissions and suspensions are crap. BMW engines used to be crap. Mercedes electronics were problematic. So all the major manufacturers have had their problems. My brand new Rivian left me stranded recently but my 3 year old RR has been perfect. Any more captain obvious comments from the peanut gallery?

As much as I’m impressed with the quality and reliability Lexus offers, the design is weird and usability poor. SUVs can offer a usable trunk and good visibility, while being stylish at the same time.

It’s sad that RR and LR products have such a bad reputation for quality control. But apparently they continue to sell very expensive cars to remain in business which disincentivizes the company from making real improvements to their quality and reliability. The only way that LR/RR will improve quality is for their sales to free fall . Beauty and price exclusivity continue to save the company’s bacon.

Too bad it's the lasting quality lacking in the brand. Initial quality is deceiving but they know their buyers don't care because they sell them for a new one every few years. Most of their offerings are made to be very expensive disposable cars
