Sad to see how the Catholic Church changed. I was born in the new mass. I'd say the old mass or TLM rival the liturgy of the orthodox Christians. Everything in TLM seems to honor God more than the new mass. The focus was on God.

Studies are showing that young people are going to a TLM. Personally I feel that the church needs to return to this because of what is happening today within the church. I really wish I could go to a TLM but unfortunately the nearest one available is over an hour away. I'm actually discerning what kind of priest I want to be and I really think the Lord is calling me to FSSP.

Good for you Malik. I am so lucky because the only TLM parish in all of New England, staffed with two tremendous FSSP priests, is in the next town over. We have people from NH, MA, ME and VT that drive an hour or more to get to our little parish and most of them stick around for the coffee and donut social for another hour or two after. Those of us that have this, need to do everything we can to grow our parish with the hopes that more and more TLM parishes are formed.

I drive an hour and 15 minutes every Sunday to go to a traditional Latin Mass Parish. You might want to do the same it's really not that huge of an inconvenience when you consider that people used to walk hours to get to Mass. And in some places they still do. My Sacrifice of an hour and a half each way is so little when I compare it to that.

Malik Ore my parents take me to a church that only does TLM. I have a religion class at school and I do the best in it. I made my first communion 2 years before my friends who don't go to TLM and my confirmation 3 years before. Everyone in my class says I can speak Latin but I can't I can only read it. They were also surprised when I didn't know a prayer that we were learning in class. I also once cried in grade 2 when my mom wouldn't let me play a tambourine at my schools church. (My school has mass for the students during 4 and 5 period every like 3rd week) I was also spot on when we learned about the ave Maria in music class. And I also looooove the veils that my mom buys me. And also for the Ash Wednesday mass that we have at my schools church they sing the Agnus Dei and I already knew it. I sang o come o come Emmanuel and o come all ye faithful for my friends and they said I sing good. They really should change the mass back. And no matter what my husband says, I am definitely taking my kids to the TLM every Sunday, Christmas Eve, and holy day. Holy crap I wrote a lot!!! 😂

I am a lifelong Catholic. Former Catechist. I am 42 and just started going to TLM at my parish. My parish, Five Wounds is actually pictured in this video. I feel like I have just started going to Mass. I can not believe this was ever changed. I grew up in the "new Mass" and grew increasingly frustrated with it as I got older. In all honesty, I'm a little angry at what a circus the Mass has turned into. With Traditional Latin Mass, I finally feel like I am truly participating in a mystery. I fell in love with it the very first time and I have not been this excited about Mass, EVER!! If Traditional Latin Mass was offered more readily, there would be more daily communicants. The Mass should have never been touched as this was the Mass that created thousands and thousands of Saints.
I, also, felt like I had just started going to mass; almost felt like I had just become an authentic Catholic.
@KnightsofColumbusdiscuss7 жыл бұрын
Totally agree with you and you raise a very good question which is, WHY was the Mass changed? Second question would be regarding the concept of "development" in the Catholic sense and how does the changing of the liturgy from Latin to the Novus Ordo fit into the historical development seen throughout the 2000 year history of the Catholic Church? That is awesome that your own parish is pictured in this beautiful video. Next time I am in San Diego I will check it out. If you ever are in Boston you should come to my TLM parish which is St Stanislaus in Nashua NH. check out this video from feast of St Stanislaus on May 7th 2017 kzbin.info/www/bejne/iqK6pJKmh8t3gMU

I live in Cardiff but was born in Catholic Ireland in 1938. I emigrated to Cardiff in 1960. At that time on every day of the week and in every Catholic church in Ireland and in Wales every Mass was in Latin. In addition to that there was a Mass in every church in both Ireland and Wales at 7 o'clock in the morning 7 days a week. At that time we were required to fast from all food and drink from midnight until after we had returned home after Mass. Such a focus on what was going to be our greatest privilege meant that we never just turned up and went to Communion because everyone else was. I worked 20 miles away from Cardiff. Every morning I could go to the 7 o'clock Mass and then travel to work. In the town there was a cafe near the bus station where I had my breakfast before reporting for work. The changes from Sunday the 29th. of November 1969, the day the Mass in 'the language of the people', was introduced in almost every Catholic church in Wales, resulted in a big reduction in the number of Mass goers every day of the week while the use of English caused Catholics whose home language was not English to stop going to Mass except for weddings, baptisms and funerals. I have no doubt that all those changes were well meant but the unintended consequences had not been anticipated. We now have churches where even on Sundays less than a third of the places are occupied and most of those present are largely old and getting older!

Jeanne Holler me too. I am just now on my journey into the Latin mass and my husband is with me. The priest at our novas ordo Parish has recently said communion is for everyone we are not special and anyone can come to communion he also proclaimed Christ was broken on the Cross and thru a broken man we got salvation. He hates the Latin mass and has made that quite clear and he hated Pope Benedict because he was to traditional but he likes Francis. All through St. Louis de Montfort's 33days Consecration to Our Blessed Mother. I sobbed for 2 weeks when I realized I had to leave the Charismatic Movement. I received Holy Eucharist on my hand out of embarrassment at receiving on the tongue (it isn't the practice where I reside). I was clearly told it was better to not receive Holy Eucharist at all than to receive on the hand. It brought me to tears to think of all that has been going on in the Church all through the last 50 years. Why, why?? I love being Catholic and when the church went “Protestant” I went through a lot of grief, but that is all we had, so I finally came to terms in order to remain Catholic, now in my old age I see the Tridentine Mass is being said in different churches. I attend one once in a while because I am very active in my parish, so I feel confused again. Should I give up my parish and drive to the Tridentine Mass? Even though I might not be able to do it some times because of the distance. I attend the Mass and I would feel very, very sad if I can’t receive the Eucharist in daily bases. I am Catholic because I truly believe is the true Faith. Lord have mercy.

it is where heaven and earth meets ... Centered on God alone. where the Priest and the faithful approach the Lord's table, a tradition handed down to us from the apostolic times. My grandmother taught me Latin and she always says that the Mass said during the days of her youth were much more solemn, everyone participates in silence and prayer contemplating God's word the main focus is and always has been God.

May we never give up this up again, we cannot lose it for a second time. God Bless

What a BEAUTIFUL POST! Thank you for letting us all know that we are not alone in having countless reasons why we love the Latin Mass. I went to my first Latin Mass a few years ago with an open mind (my fiancé RIP grew up with the Latin Mass. I was less fortunate that way, being born in the mid 1960s). WOW! The contrast between that and the Novus Ordo could not be more stark. The Novus Ordo is like a noisy diner offering cheap chow, the Latin Mass a 5 star restaurant offering quality meals! Think about it. I found my first LM experience was less stressful, more God-focused and there was plenty of time to silently pray WITH the priest without the need for unnecessary social interaction - that part alone taught me that there is a time and a place to meet and talk to each other and before and during Mass is not the time and place! The demographics of the Faithful in the pews are a lot healthier than at my Novus Ordo parish in that there were more families with young children and babies (who were very well behaved and less fractious), more teenagers and young adults immersed in prayer - actually, I didn't get the feeling that I was at an old ladies bingo meeting! As I am someone who has been lately diagnosed with High Functioning Autism/Aspergers Syndrome, going back to worshiping at a Latin Mass for the first time after my diagnosis brought a lot of other things into focus that I have been either made to tolerate or have subconsciously had to tolerate with the Novus Order: The Latin Mass doesn't have the sensory overload that the Novus Ordo Mass has, which is an emotional and physically painful distraction. The only social interaction you need during Latin Mass is with Almighty God through His Son Jesus Christ in the Blessed Sacrament. If you have been through a pretty rough time, the Latin Mass gives you time to put it at the foot of the Cross without people judging you on your long face, your attitude or anything else. The Latin Mass leaves you wanting and needing MORE and not LESS. You can't wait until you are back at Mass again and any excuse to go back there becomes a solid REASON. Please pray for me that I will be able to go back to LM once more. I haven't been able to go back to LM since my fiancé died in 2016 - Other chronic illnesses I have make me nervous about travelling across the city on my own to the church I love where the LM is offered. Please pray for me that there will be a like minded person who will be able to accompany me there. I miss LM so, so much it hurts. As someone with high functioning autism (on the AS spectrum) I would highly recommend The Latin Mass to anyone who has this condition.

But I wish they would offer 1 of the Sunday Masses to be in Latin, that would be very interesting and I imagine many would flock to that mass

Many thanks for this wonderful and quite amazing videos. I found the best video that I could share with many of my Novus Ordo brothers and sisters here in the Philippines, and I believe that, like me, they are also hungry for the holy tradition and traditional version of our Catholic faith, which has been despised and abandoned for many decades now.

Beautiful and inspiring presentation! Just one correction: Inter Sollicitudines was written by Pope St. Pius X in 1903, not 1920 (he died in 1914).

I wish i could attend latin mass...i read about it and see how it is done.....i completely fell in love with it.....why did vactican 2 change the rite ....latin mass was being practiced for centuries.. my father knows all the prayers and greogarian chants because they used to practice latin mass. I really wish we could go back to traditional mass because i personally feel that traditional mass honors god more that the present day mass...and i just love the greogarian chats, one can really be at peace with god in the traditional mass...and yes i want to learn prayers in latin. Love love love the traditional mass. Praise the lord.

Great video. No post - Vatican 2 innovations can compare to the 1500 years of prayer and enduring tradition of the Latin Mass.

This is how Mass be felt and spoken. I dislike loud music chatting and so forth. There is a greater sense of peace and meditation.

I left the Catholic faith a few short years after they dropped High Mass in Latin. I probably had left many of the beliefs being taught at the time before that. But if the church once again started offering High Mass with the chanting, music, incense I would return for the beauty of it and peace it left me with at the end of mass. In Michigan I attended Latin mass each morning before college. A nun and the children sung in Latin - the beauty was beyond description. There are many things I think the church should abandon but High Latin Mass was not one.

Since The Tridentine Latin Mass TLM is hard to find celebrated in many places you can get it online at catholichour.org Fr. Noonan gives wonderful sermons you can also listen to his Friday radio program at catholichour.org or go to KRFE in Lubbock, TX online and hit the online radio box. God Bless!!!!!

If the Tridentine rite makes a popular come back, I hope that it will be like the "dialog masses" of the 1950s, when the whole congregation joined in saying/singing the server's responses, just as the priest prays the prayers aloud, that is, for all to hear as well.

There is an eighth reason to like the Latin Mass - no preaching of heresy, communism or communist causes from the pulpit. A ninth reason is that the church isn't like a protestant meeting hall with the congregation talking to each other - ok, so the kids make a bit of noise but when families have eight or more kids you have to expect a little background disruption. Tenth, you know that the money from the collections is going to "green" or left-wing "feel-good" causes. Etc, etc, etc.........

Absolutely it just absolutely drives me nuts when people at the novus ordo talk before during and after the mass inside the sanctuary. And if you try to tell anybody after Mass to be quiet because you're trying to pray and you happen to be the only one they get mad at you. They feel entitled to talk in the sanctuary after Mass simply because they want to.

Excellent video. Tells the truth. Very inspiring. And what about all the Sacred Particles that break off in the hand? And the clergy don't instruct the people. But Fr. Gruner did, and he was severely persecuted for telling the truth. The bishops and priests are going to have a lot to answer for when they die.

Agree, go hard core, kinda like the salvation of your soul depends on it, it does ! Trying to give at least 5 minutes of thanks giving after the novus ordo Mass, for get it, chatting etc. before the priest even processes out ! Shaking hands, just to lose focus on who we are about to receive ! Just ask your self is the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass about me and the people around me, or about an unbloodied sacrifice of Christ Jesus to God the Father rerepresecnted by our priest ?
