Many people aren't aware just how great rabbits are, and how funny their personalities can be.
One of our amazing Pet Circle staff members, Nolwenn, fosters rescue rabbits with a local shelter. We made this video to help spread some awareness about rabbits, and just how great they are as forever pets if you can commit to providing them the forever home they deserve! 🐰💜

Bunnies are the ultimate cute. They require daily attention though, especially if they are not being fed properly. You need to clean their habitat daily too or they could get ill.

@@patricia31927 They are a high maintenance pet, they need more care than Dogs and Cats. They are sensitive and do not like being picked up, no loud noises, they must be fed at the proper times or could die in hours, they need organic leaf veg, a little piece of fruit each day, small garden that is sealed, they can not be kept in a cage, that is only for transport or protection, if you look at Lennon The Bunny video's, Lorelei shows all the proper care and treatment, her video's are the best. Make the paws.

THELMA WILLIAMS it should hopefully grow out of it, she’s just a baby so will have some little habits as chewing at her own ears but if it gets a problem for her i suggest taking her to a vet to prevent infection if she breaks her own skin

Rabbits don't belong in cages so why would you have to clean there habitat? They can be easily litter trained, then you only have to clean there (cat-sized litter box) every 3 days.

My rabbit was all nuzzly, cute soft tickly and loving. She used to sleep in bed with me when I was a young teenager. She was so cute and she lived until she was nearly 9, she only died because she got bunny cancer. I used to kiss her face, stroke her back, tickle her whiskers and feed her dandelion leaves parsley and fruits! She was so tame and she never tried to bite me! She once jumped up and licked all the tears off my face when I was sad! I LOVED my bunny!

I agree with everything except them being a low-maintenance pet. They require an exotic vet experienced with rabbits and cannot be left unsupervised for a weekend. Rabbits can get a deadly condition called GI stasis and very quickly go from fine to deaths door if not caught in time and treated properly. When my bun went into GI Stasis he was hopping around happy at 4:30pm by dinner at 6:30pm he didn't come out for his food, I tried for an hour to coax him out of his hide and get him to eat with no luck so I called the vet. I had to drive to the next city over from me to get to the only 24hr emergency rabbit bet. I got there at 8:30pm and his body temperature was dropping fast and I got him to the vet just in time to save his life. Having 2 cats, one dog, and 2 rabbits this is how I would classify them as pets: Elementary level pet ownership is a cat, they get all their vet bills out of the way as a kitten and rarely need to see the vet afterwards. They can be trained to use a litterbox and kept inside or can be barn cats living outside. Dogs, are Highschool level pets, they require lots more vetting than the cat because on top of fixing and baby shots they also need yearly heartworm flea and tick medication and they require walks outdoors in all weather. Rabbits are university level pet ownership. Hear me out, Rabbits need a rabbit savvy exotic vet that you may have to travel out of town to see. Yes rabbits can be litter trained but it needs cleaned out more often than the cat litter. For the cats and dogs I buy dry kibble and small pouches of wet food available at local stores. I feed my rabbits a little bit of their pellets, As much hay as they want and two service of fresh greens and herbs. I absolutely LOVE my buns and would never want to stop anyone from getting a pet rabbit but people need to be told the truth so they don't get a bunny thinking they are low maintenance when they require much more care than was said in the video. I would NEVER leave alone all weekend, they even come camping in my trailer with me! The dog and buns come but the cats stay home.

I have 3 rabbits at the moment. The amount of time, effort, money, emotional commitment as well as maturity required to take care of them is unbelievable. Trust me, it’s no child’s play. I started with one and even that took up 50 % of my life then. Now at least 85% of my life is devoted to the 3 of them, on top of having to care for my family. Rabbits can be litter trained, so they don't need to be walked to pee and poo like dogs, it's very useful (people say they're even more clean than a cat). If you're going to get rabbits, I'd suggest you to bring two of them so they have a "playmate" (rabbits can feel very lonely without one, even if they don't seem to do so) All the best to you though!

Hello peeps I’ve had a single indoor rabbit for a couple months, for any person that is looking for a rabbit please make sure you have a good amount of time and patience they are very high maintenance in cleaning feeding etc and are not for the average dog person. Rabbits are prey animals which mean they get scared/frightened really easily they’ll are very amazing companions once you have made a strong bond with them but most people end up getting ride of them so yea!

noooo. Think about the animal first. Can you fulfill the animal's needs for 10 plus years? Money for vet Bill's, housing, food. Can you give it the best possible care throughout it's lifetime, no matter what is happening in yours? Can you walk the dog rain, shine, morning, noon and night? Can you provide space and time for bunny? Can you give either of them the attention they require for a long g and happy life? If the answers are no, get a plant instead.

Having any animal including a rabbit is full time work, if you get a bunny you would need to bunny proof your house/flat as they chew wood and cables and ensure you don't leave the bunny alone for to long as with any pet. Idk about other ppls bunnies but our rocky does act like our kitten. Hes nonstop. Always interested in something. I have a feeling he'll be the few pet that actually answers me. Not just what but will come to me after I call for him. I can tell my hubby wants to leave his scents everywhere & smother our pets. Bc rocky smells like his b.o. right now. I love this little dude. I know he's a jumper but he's still so small & new I guess we're just being hopeful he won't jump out of his pin. Although I think he only does it when we're around. My hubby said he found him near me this morning, by the bed & I thought he was lying. Earlier I know I heard he said he was gonna get him. But he never articulates a full sentence so I'm just k whatever cool story. Some moments pass by and I see the fur ball pass by me & im like 🤣😍 awww he meant in the pin in the other room next to me. Then my hubby came up scared like omg I thought I lost him.. nope,, turns out he came all the way from down stairs to be up here w/ me. His cuteness, I can't. Little guy is smaller than the steps! He has no fear, is sweet, & smart. I have a feeling he's prob gonna follow me around everywhere too. I'd like to believe he's got good instincts, he's so adventurous to be so tiny. but he's on the bed w/ me & He just zooms back & forth back & forth. From my stand still pov he's pretty funny too

I agree mostly. But When I had two bunnies I didn't had the impression that they are low maintenance and especially not that I could leave them more than when I'm away for work. Unimaginable leaving them over the weekend. I miss them still very much, but I took them spontaneously after I saw that my neighbor kept them in unimaginable conditions. Since I didn't want them to die in filth I took them and they were the most happy rabbits with great personalities. After I cleaned a wound of one hurt bunny she licked me everytime I was around. And they hopped everytime on my lap, although they didn't liked be petted very much they loved to be near (or on) us. After five months I had to give them away to a new home because as much as I love animals, I'm no pet person. And I wanted to ensure that they can live the happiest life. So I'm watching all the bunny content I can on KZbin. Maybe one day I can afford the time and money to keep two or three bunnies again.

In New Zealand Pet Rabbit popularity grown in 30% in the last seven years and in New Zealand Rabbit is now fourth most popular Pet: "Over the last seven years, the number of pet rabbits in New Zealand has exploded. It’s estimated that over 100,000 rabbits are kept as pets in New Zealand with 3% of households having an average of 2 rabbits each. This growth in the popularity of rabbits may come as a surprise to some but they are now the fourth most popular pet in New Zealand, after dogs, cats and fish! If this takes you by surprise, the New Zealand Companion Animal Council (NZCAC) found that even more surprisingly, unlike for cats and dogs, the main reason people acquire rabbits in New Zealand is that they believe that rabbits will be fun for children. In contrast, most people adopt cats or dogs for companionship. Perhaps this can explain why the amount of pet rabbits in New Zealand has risen by over 30% since 2011! If you are one of the people who have a pet rabbit because you find them fun companions, you’ll love these handy tips that focus on keeping your rabbits as happy as you hope they’d be! 1. Wild rabbits are used to travelling huge distances every day - and this desire to move around still exists in pet rabbits. Try to give your pet rabbit as much space as possible, with secure areas to exercise and run around. 2. Rabbits are incredibly social! If you can’t keep more than one bunny in your house give your rabbit your own human company for as long as you can. 3. Rabbits should be fed a very specific diet to keep them healthy. You can find a detailed breakdown of their diet in a previous Pawprintz article, but up to 85% of their diet should be grass and hay. 4. Rabbits are highly intelligent animals and as such they need some stimulation. Provide them with digging boxes or small toys so they can keep themselves occupied! 5. Keep your bunnies vaccinated against killer diseases. Talk to your vet and discuss an immunisation plan for your pets. 6. If your rabbit isn’t totally comfortable with you, try to limit how much you pick them up. Rabbits can get spooked if you lift them high in the air, so when building trust it’s best to get down to ground level with them. 7. Despite common belief, holding a rabbit upside and putting them into a trance doesn’t calm them down - in fact it’s a fear response. If your rabbit is scared, put them in a comfortable environment. If you follow simple steps to keep your rabbit in a safe environment, it’s easy to keep them happy and you’ll be able to see their happiness too! A happy and hoppy rabbit will dart around, jump in the air, and maybe even twist in a dance! It’s no wonder that so many people think rabbits are such fun pets!" Link:Pet-N-Fur

Honestly, based from my experience rabbits are low maintenance where feeding is concerned, but takes a lot out of you otherwise. They can be very destructive, and they poop and pee all over the house. My son's pet rabbit, Nibbles, makes me laugh a lot though. What I find very amusing abut her is that she will come scampering out of her place of solitude the moment she hears the refrigerator door open, or (wait for it) if she hears a snack bag being opened. A snack bag! can you believe that. 😄... She thinks of carrot or mostly mango skin when the fridge is opened.

Minilops (I have 1) are now advised to puT on weight before neutering, and while larger breeds can be neutered at 3 months, vets suggest minis wait until they are 7-8 months to do so which means minis upon hitting puberty at 6 or so months can be territorial. which means they DO leave poop and pee around the place. Females also poop less than males. If you have a larger breed, perhaps they got neutered early and use their litter consistently. Mine did until he hit 13 in bunny years..now some days he is good about it; sometimes not.

Very, very clean animals, super easy to litter train. Although, you need to be very careful about their diet, and sometimes finding an exotic vet can be hard.

Rabbits need a lot of attention and care. You Can NOT leave your rabbit alone for a weekend. If your rabbit for example stops eating you have 12 hrs before their chances of survival are slim. They too have to go to the vet at least once a yr and a vet that knows a lot about them. They should not be keep outside and you should “ bunny proof”your house. It’s a lot of work, but is so rewarding! With bunnies you can tell when they are happy. Please instead of buying consider adoption. There’s so many bunnies that need a good forever home.

If you give balanced advise about the cost commitment of time and finances, people will be more understanding about whether to get a rabbit. Rabbit neglect, abuse, abandonment is very high in many countries because people are not educated BEFORE they adopt or buy a rabbit

I agree with everything except low-maintenance. That is a BIG misconception! I learned the hard way. I once lef my rabbit alone for 24 hours and when I came back he got a seizure. I was traumatized by it. It never happened before when I was with him (he had plenty of food and water, but he still went into shock). They are extremely sensitive to their diet, you have to be extra careful about what you are feeding them and the cost for vererinary treatment can be quite high, not mentioning you need to go to an exotic pet vet. If you mess up, you can easily kill them. They require a lot of exercise and attention. They can´t be compared to cats or dogs when comes to maintenance. You can just leave your cat or dog hanging around, but not a rabbit. The rabbit will need you to approach them, stroke them and play with them at least 3 hours a day unless they have another bonded rabbit. They also need to be groomed regularly to prevent gut blockages from ingested fur. If you want your rabbit to be truly happy, you also have to make sure they have a routine (you can´t just give them food any time of the day, it has to be around the same time every day which means you have to get up before 9 am to feed them EVERY DAY). You need to give them at least 3 types of leafy greens every day and some other veggies on top (and that is definitely NOT CHEAP, veggies in my country is pricey), carefully monitor their weight and make sure their nails are clipped. You have to bunny-proof your house, which can add many limitations to your life like not being able to own certain other pets or poinsonous plants, leave food or clothes lying around, leaving doors open etc. They are just a LOT of work and are not suitable for beginners without proper commitment, time and space.

We didn't use hay. Holly had a wire cage over newspaper and a plastic litter pan that clipped onto the cage. We gave her a towel for warmth and used litter made from recycled paper. She made no mess except for dropping pellets when she'd been out (and excited) too long. We'd just pick those up with a paper towel the next day, sure beats scrubbing up a hairball. Like cats, rabbits like to be clean and quiet.

Our rabbit sheds a lot. However the hay is not a problem as he only has hay in his litter box as he roams freely round the house. And then at nighttime he goes to bed in his cage which has hay in. But it does not fall out.

All rabbits are different. My two keep each other company while I am away. They just ask for plenty of water and hay. They also get the right amount of pellets, plus greens and scraps. The neighbor girls check on them! I am VERY careful not to let them have too many sweets, as in fruits that are higher in sugar. They LOVE banana peels! Also entire bunches of celery!
