We are Jacob and Jenny, a husband and wife passionate about traveling the world. We started uploading in May, 2021 with a goal to see as much of the globe as possible. After visiting Costa Rica and French Polynesia, the time was right to quit our full-time jobs, so we left everything to travel and have loved every minute of it. Our goal is to make it to all seven continents and visit as many countries as possible. Follow along and be a part of the journey!

I have a lot of respect for people who travel to another country and are openminded enough to understand why people there might do things differently, even if you're not used to it. Thank you for that, you two are lovely people. I'm glad to hear you had a good time in Vietnam.

You guys! I always look forward to your videos. You’re both so friendly, welcoming and funny. Jenny always makes me laugh whether it’s words, reactions, facial expressions. Your face during the street food description was hilarious. From the old chestnut “I don’t need to see how the sausage is made…” to the build up to “very fresh….yeah”😂 totally cracked me up. Had to watch that 3 times. 🙂. Really looking forward to Japan! 🇯🇵 ✌🏼

As Vietnamese. Vietnamese tradition always teach us to show respect the elder. If you understand Vietnamese language. You will know why. American in the US is the same way too but not as much as Vietnamese.

I luv imperial rolls and the soups those people make. I've lived in different hi-rises. Street noise does not start to fade till about 20th floor. 30th floor + is far enough to eliminate most street noise.

Vietnamese have common senses just like people in the western world too, growing up I always taught not to talk when eating and not to slurp food too loud, so when I learnt Japanese slurp their food to show appreciation I was at awe. I think because of the loud traffic in Vietnam, people have to talk very loud and they think they could get away with chewing loud, but when it comes to eating at home with family or get invited so someone else, or at a high end restaurant, people have to have table manner. Another thing is Vietnam has a lot of classes, not everyone at the same level of education, or up bringings , not everyone in the cities grew up there, a lot of them migrated from the countrysides to seek jobs in the cities, therefore eating at street stalls reflects this. Just imagine people in the western world eating at McDonald with friends or get invited over to friends houses, it's the same with Vietnam .

Small businesses-like street food vendors in Vietnam do not pay taxes for what they sell. However, those sold in the restaurants and hotels, etc... are subject to taxes. That's the reason why you will need to pay extra for meals in those places.

As a Vietnamese, we do respect old people but most of our restaurants are first come first served. It's probably just a special case that you encountered, not the norm. Maybe the restaurant was too crowded and the owner forgot about you guys, that could happen too.

The chewing thing when eating is less of respect (like in Japan) but more so like you have your personal freedom to enjoy the meal to the fullest. In Vietnamese we have a saying "Even the God doesn't bother you when you're having a meal". So basically enjoying your food the way you like it is even higher than God's power. To me as an oversea VNmese, I feel like Vietnamese people have the most freedom in the way how they would enjoy a meal to their personal preference. You can chew, you can eat with closed mouth, you can clean the plate or you can leave half the food whatsoever.
