I've gotten some of my best gains from doing "unoptimal" training. The basics work, I've gone from 167lbs middle of senior year. To 192lbs, big shoulders, more defined chest, bigger quads, a wide ass back, a whole ass 4 pack (train your abs) as a freshman in college. At the end of the day, do the work, execute the plan, eat to support your training, and get fucking HUGE

Bro I completely agree with what you said about dumbing down the training, so many of my friends and colleagues keep changing their program every week and make almost mediocre gains, meanwhile I’ve been spamming the same old reliable movements that I really connect with(plus bulking) and I’m making crazy gains and progress. Can’t say I’ve gotten here by myself tho, thanks to your knowledge and the other noble natties, I’ve been able to make constant progress. I’m grateful for all your help coach Paris🗿🥂

Immediately, I just gotta comment, dumbing down my training did me good. Now I don’t treat training as an elaborate thought process, which made my training much more focused. Since my goal is strength at the moment, I just look for accessories that work, a good progression scheme on the compound I want, and I’m good to go. By the way, I forgot to say, congrats on the partnership with Raskol. Incredible to see you doing so well!

I agree so much with dumbing everything down. For long I tried all these complex methods to increase my pull-up numbers. At some point I realised that simply doing 3 sets of max reps, 3x per week (I do full body 3x per week) with a bit left in the tank was so much better, and my progress skyrocketed. I stopped caring about being optimal and just spam the same things 3x per week with slight improvements in reps or weight every session or weekly. Pullups, ring dips, rows, handstand push-ups, squats etc

I've worked out for 30 years and fallen into lots of traps by listening to the "jimmy bookworms" as you call them, and I agree with you 100 percent! the more complicated I allowed things to get, the worse I did!.......I've come full circle where I find the basic shit that my dad taught me when I first started is what gets the job done! I used to REALLY overthink everything I did, to the point I was mentally exhausted before I even picked up a barbell! .....and I mean form and everything are obviously important, but I was very "ok now i lean exactly 22 degrees, exhale as my elbows point out, contract for 3 seconds and spin on my head" type shit! and all i was really doing was burning myself out mentally! ....I found I did much better to just lift the damn weight!......if you feel something in your muscles, and theyre growing and getting stronger, then its working!

I think calf growth is difficult because they never see real rest. It’s not the same as chest or another muscle group that doesn’t see daily activity the way our calves do. Man. I loved this. that first part is so true of just dumbing things down. Whenever i start spiralling down the rabbit hole of like if i need more work, if i need a specific exercise if i need a progression scheme, whatever unecessary complication. I think back to the days that i was working out at home where'd i'd lean on my window-sill and then do rows as hard as i could just because i didnt have a bar and wanted a big back. i think about the weird setups i'd do with resistance bands just so i could do hamstring curls. And now i have all the equipment necessary- i dont need special shit. all i need is to get shit done and that's what it comes down to.

great vid, my biggest improvement this year is training with intensity (high effort) instead of dialing it in during my lifts. I'm not a very intense person so getting that "LETS GO!" energy has been difficult for me my entire life, but i surprised myself and continue to do so when I crank the energy up. getting more reps than i thought I could and realizing i need to up the weight, etc. realizing i am more capable than I thought I was. It's been nice and seeing results is proof that it matters, to me at least. for any other quiet guys out there try unlocking the inner caveman a little, dont sacrifice form tho. maybe it will be the missing piece to progressing for you like it seems to have been for me.

Where do you put your cardio? I started doing combat sports recently and trying to fit in 5x week gym, 3x classes and few runs per week seems tough. I'm constantly having to skip something when I get busy with life stuff.
@alexandriaarmstrong1459 Жыл бұрын
@@ZalvaTionZ I usually put it before an MMA related class. So its Run, Class, then lift which a long 2.5 to 3hrs of training. I recently changed it to Running+Bag work and class one day and Lifting+Bag Work+Running on the other days. This gives me 3x Lifting and 2-3x for both striking and grappling. Doing all that is still like 2.5hrs but since I have Primary (Heavy) and secondary (Light/Medium) days for lifting it helps manage the fatigue. Also I mix up the intensity/duration of the running. For strong muscle groups I agree completely. My lat training is literally just Yates style barbell rows and reverse grip pulldowns or chin ups. Shoulders? A press overhead that doesn't bother my elbows, dumbbell lateral raises and dumbbell reverse flies. Quads? I literally just did squats atg until I've recently had to figure out ways to limit the load on the bar. Ungabunga beat the books for all movements and strong muscle groups. For weak muscle groups? that's where I delve a little into biomechanics, do trial and error to find exercises that work for me, give the muscle group priority in the training plan and so on. But still there are no "hyper-optimised" programming tricks anywhere just good hard consistent training near failure.
