Any video you make on sewing trousers will be an instant click for me! I have the same hip-to-waist ratio and leggings are basically the only ready to wear trousers that ever fit 😂 I am so intimidated at the thought of trying to get a sewing pattern to fit- the back yoke idea hadn't occured to me! Cannot wait for that video!

You should check out Lifting Pins and Needles. Karina has a whole pants fitting series in her channel. And in my opinion, she is the absolute best in her instruction of all the sewing channels on KZbin. She is amazing.

Pant pattern suggestion: Pattern Emporium Walk Boldly. I am a confident beginner sewist and have made these pants three times in ponte. Excellent instructions, multiple options. Give their patterns a look.

Thanks so much for the suggestion. I really want to try a Pattern Emporium Pattern. Sadly I tried sewing with Ponte and for some reason didn't love wearing the fabric. Which is a shame as I love the look of the Walk Boldly Pants!

So many choices - so much fun for your summer. The frilly patched skirt would look adorable in a scaled down version for your daughter. Happy sewing🦘🇦🇺

Thank you! That is such a great idea! Maybe once I have made mine I can try and scale the pieces down. Matching skirts would be so much fun!

Hello Amelia, thank you for sharing these patterns. I too have the smaller waist to hip ratio, also add to that a short torso. Not a great combo for pant making. To date I have only made linen elastic waist pull up pants, easy to modify. I would so love to try sewing jeans. The patterns you mentioned look wonderful. A tad challenging for me though. Look forward to seeing your makes of those lovely pants. 🙂

Thanks Kim. I think trouser fitting seems so daunting, so linen elastic waist pants sound like a great way to start getting used to fitting! I really want to make some more pants so I can really understand how to fit my lower body well.

I almost forgot. The larger of the two bird print fabrics you bought in New Zealand, which is so cute, reminded me of a project I had planned for myself. If you have any leftover fabric you can appliqué the rectangle of a bird onto a tee for your children.

I love that scalloped patchwork skirt but the amount of gathering for the ruffles looks daunting.
@sewamelia6 ай бұрын
It does look a bit overwhelming! But I do love the end result so I am willing to give it a go. To be honest, it is hemming all the ruffles that makes me nervous!

I took a pants fitting class from sew liberated and it was a huge help and I have been able to use what I learned on pants from other pattern companies. The class uses the chanterelle pants pattern. Mine turned out fitting amazing.

True Bias Lander pants (my absolute favourite ever pants pattern) are great for fitting because you do the inseam first and then baste the outer seam and adjust the fit over the hips and waist. Obviously, you'd have to cut the size for your hips. I suppose you could do that for any trouser pattern, though. I use a curved waistband from a different pattern because the rectangular waistband gapes at the centre back on me. I love my Landers 😍 I might've mentioned that a few (dozen) times before! 😂

Thanks so much for the recommendation. I have seen the Lander Pants and thought they look like such a lovely pattern! I really love a curved waistband as it fits so much better - I think that is why I like the Thea Trousers so much as they have a curved waistband which fits like a dream!

I loved seeing your new Liberty skirt and summery patterns. This weekend here in Northern California is quite warm, 85°F., which has me thinking of sundresses. I recently discovered #m5094 McCalls dress in view D. It is almost exactly the same as a dress I made before university, based on a vintage négligée my mom had, maybe from the 1940s. The dress is very similar to the Calvin crop top pattern you showed. I plan on widening the straps. Maybe a light blue gingham or even some Liberty. Another summer dress I’ve obsessed over is #ikateeanna. I would like to make the Thea trousers in a soft chambray to get me through the warm weather in comfort ❤️

Thank you so much for those pattern suggestions. I will look them up! I think the Thea Trousers would look really lovely in a chambray - perfect for summer!

I wonder if that ruffle skirt could be made from recycled tshirts for kind of a shabby chic/boho look
@sewamelia6 ай бұрын
That would look so amazing! I love the upcycling opportunities for the skirt pattern.
