Bubble windscreens are actually useful if you're tall. Too much wind smacks you in the torso when you're on a motorway/highway. Also, I've never heard about someone swapping their grips because they thought it would make their throttle control better.

As a rider of some 50 odd years I could never work out why I or anyone could need knee grips. When and how should I use them? I used to race unlimited production bikes in decades past (think superbikes now) and I can't remember thinking I ever needed them. My hips are in one place, my ankles are (still) attached to my feet that are on the pegs so where is my knee going to go? Is my knee actually gripping or just resting on a nice comfortable bit of rubber? Besides, I've never seen any that makes a bike look any better... actually quite the opposite. Change my mind. My current ride is an '04 Triumph Daytona 955i so I'm no over the hill cruiser rider. Sold my Harley before I scraped most of the damn thing away on curves and bends...

A top box or bag is a valuable mod, you can only pack so much crap into a backpack and it also gets just downright uncomfortable. For sport bikes you can get street racks that are really low key and allow the box to slip on and off super easy.

With regards to your point about visors, in the UK it's actually law that if you have a tinted visor on your head you must have a clear visor with you to swap out at night time, and you can be fined for riding at night with a tinted visor (although from what I've heard people don't get fined for it that often.)

@4:20- ALL HAIL ROSSI!!- at this point sir I beg to differ. I personally change the grips on every new bike I get because the small diameter of most stock grips cramps my hand. I, consequently, change them to a custom aftermarket grip that is much larger for the very practical purpose of maintaining a comfortable grip. It also has the added effect of reducing the ratio of turn required to produce a change in acceleration. Thank you for your time and keep the shiny side up :)
@kybourbonboy5 жыл бұрын
The small diameter stock grips also give me pain in my forearm and wrist. Grab On grip covers actually have worked extremely well for that. Cheap & easy install - and if you don't like them you don't have *another* over priced accessory on the shelves in your garage. They rank up there with my Air Hawk seat cushion in the comfort improvement area. I ride about 1k miles a month on my Indian Scout and comfort matters to my old (but still very attractive) body.

TY for vidz. Worst first mod mistakes I have learned from are Bigger rear sprocket, Then realized chain don't fit, well I'm committed now, More torque+ loss of MPG an top speed. A wasted time. Also wanted most aggressive off road looking tires on my dual Sport that I only use on nice packed dirt roads an grave. What a huge loss in road performance. Now I can go every where I used to go with only a 10% off road tire and ditched to 80 % off roader at 300 miles, collecting dust. Lessons learned. Also I've always used thin foam kneepads facing the tank, just street riding, I usually hate it if I leave them off. Tank grips might be good even for me, cant rush off and leave them. Best first mod purchase for me has ben seats. FYI, 2 more paydays and Picking me up a tracer 900 GT 8D (I'm old).

I offer a alternative to the dont waste money on a bike you might not keep. Make sure your mods are universal and keep the stock parts so you can take your mods on to the next bike. Buy a universal slip on instead of a totally custom exhaust for example. If you swap grips or put a wrist support on put the stock grips back on and take the wrist support off, etc. you mentioned the slip on while I was typing but the other stuff is something to think about too. Take your aftermarket lights off, if you remember he fender, keep it.

I think BRAND NEW riders (as in never ridden any sort of motorcycle before) shouldn’t make any mods whatsoever. Just focus on riding for at least 3 months and getting used to the bike. After 3 months or when your comfortable with the bike then start to change things. I realized that bikes are very sensitive and even adding a bar-end mirror changes how a bike handles (more weight on the handle bars). Changing chains and sprockets effects how a bike handles. Changing batteries to lithium ion ones changes handling. Fender eliminator reduces weight drastically and changes handling. Some exhaust do add power and change throttle response. Literally everything changes with every mod. So ride first. Then when you’re comfortable modify to your hearts desire.

I've done a couple of these, but not as a noob, and didn't regret them. Namely, the windscreen and grips. I ride an FZ 07 and a relatively cheap windscreen will take that bike from "ohmyfuckinggod wind" to pleasant riding experience. Much the same, a nice pair of tacky soft grips isn't going to make a newb into the master of throttle control, nor does anyone think they will, but they do make my wrists and hands much happier after a nice long riding session. An exhaust is next on my list, and not for performance purposes but because that engine sounds nice and I want to hear it. And I bought my bike new, owned it for almost 4 years, and put 10k miles on it, so I guess you might say it's not a throwaway bike. So I think I'm safe pulling the trigger.

Big yam dawg. Could you please talk about the benefits of switching your shifter to GP shift. Dumbest noob mod at the time for me personally was a quarter turn pro motion throttle or spending couple hundred on LSL frame sliders. Both pointless if you’re in your first year of riding. Been doing CCS racing and track days for the last 5 years thanks for all the great videos 🙏🏻

My R6 feels fast enough for me only thing i did was put a loud shorty exhaust so i could get the whole "race bike" experience any 'performance " parts besides that feel redundant for the price plus im not a track day junky so i wouldnt even notice the difference

Definitely I don't think I would ever buy a helmet without an inner shade visor and a quick chinstrap release now that I have one.

Hate it when a boul stretches his beginner bike.

no one should do full system exhaust. it is completely pointless. Yammie seems to have the idea that a full system although more difficult to install will yield greater performance and sound. This is not the case. The slip-on is the only thing that matters. on most bikes, the header pipe is just that. A hollow pipe.

Unless you own a SV650. Then you will need a full system just to get rid of that ugly Suzuki welded pipe and Autozone muffler clamps that make up the stock system.

I put reflectors on my wheels since all the factory ones where already off and i think they make the bike look cool. If i was able to post a pic i would post one to show y'all

Hi Yammie! Big fan here. I have an Fz07. Should I go for a shoei nxr or an hjc rpha70? Would you like to suggest anything different? I value your opinion.
