1) It is always wisest to RESEARCH wherever you plan to live thoroughly before you go. Know before you go, as they say. 2) I'd be most worried about being in one of the typhoons, over there. Philippines gets them annually and the storms that SLAM into that nation can be FIERCE! I don't reckon one can avoid them, eh? 3) About people knowing English -- We have all thought that everyone else knows our language and such. It is unavoidable being (as Lloyd put it) selfish. English is surprisingly commonly spoken, as well, so of course one just naturally assumes that whoever you encounter will speak it.

This is the reason why many Filipinos are like tourists in their own country. You would be surprised that many of us have not seen the whole country because of the expenses needed to travel around islands. If you want to experience the coldest place in the country, try going up north to Baguio City, which is the country's summer capital.

This is so true, especially since most Filipinos don't have large incomes to begin with. I once spent $300 flying from Toronto to Peru. I went from the Northern to the Southern Hemisphere but it was still cheaper than some flights from Manila to Davao. SMH

@@janteo3645 All you have to do is book ahead to get cheap airfares in the Philippines. e.g. cheapest CEB-PPS one-way in 2 days is 4474 pesos, but 1221 pesos (under US$22) for next month.

People should not travel if they cannot afford and always remember you got what you paid for! If stay at BGC or high class hotel you have to pay more than airbnb or hostel, if you eat at high class restaurant you have to pay more instead of eating at local carenderia which is kulas favorite place to eat, you have to do research and planning before you travel instead of whining so many things you dont know about Philippines my advice to both you watch kulas becoming pilipino vlog you will learn a lot from him.

I absolutely agree with you about the comparatively exorbitant cost of accommodations and airfares in the Philippines. I'm Filipino and live in the U.S. and have been going home almost every year, sometimes 2-3 times a year. I've also traveled extensively in SE Asia for work and find your observations spot on. There is so much more competition from local and international hotels and air carriers overseas that pushes prices down. With monopolies in many industries in the Philippines, there is no need for hotel and airlines to lower prices and offer a better product.

I'm a Canadian born in the Philippines. I totally agree with you about the expensive Wi-Fi and the cost of traveling. Most of it is because of the duopoly they have going on there. They don't allow outside airlines and telecoms companies in, so the companies have no incentive to improve their services as there is no other competition. They should introduce short inter-island flights between the major Philippine islands like Cebu, Panay, Negros, etc.. That would cut traveling costs because people don't have to fly back to Manila every time they want to visit another beautiful island. That would be a win for local Tourism as well. That said, I actually think we have the same problems here in Canada but it's getting better with the new budget airlines coming in. It still has some room for improvement here though. I wish the Philippines government sees this video and look into improving the country's infrastructure, especially in the provinces. It should be a priority for countries that rely so much on tourism.

Actually the rainy season starts on the month of july- december but since the country runs north to south, the rains are more prevalent in north and the rains go south as the year ends but thats not always regular. Rain will still come intermittently anywhere anytime.

That is right. Even here in Manila, wifi is slow and cutting in and out. Use mobile data when uploading😅, try it. It's way better than wifi. I always hear from a lot of vloggers that they're struggling for wifi here. Hope the government should consider this including the accomodation. It's really expensive here but not that so quality. Even boarding houses, expensive too. So sad for those employees earning minimum wage, it sucks. That's why poor people remain poor and rich people get richer. Can u imagine, monthly salary here is very low but we pay more for accomodation? ☹

Even us Filipinos travelling to beaches are planned ahead of time as ticket and accommodation are expensive. So it will take us months to prepare tickets, accommodation. Maybe it’s expensive in the Phils as more islands are separated and maybe to minimize travelling in that islands like El Nido, Boracay, Coron, Siargao.

although there are a variety of mountains on almost every island in the Ph, i'd have to say the mountain province of northern luzon is probably best for a tourist. you can choose from several mountains to climb and you may even trek the 3rd highest peak in the country ( it's the tallest in luzon island) called mount pulag. several tour outfits offer a climb there (or other mountains too) where everything would be taken care of in terms of food and accommodation.

It depends what you want really. If you want beach holidays then choose the right island to stay. If you want mountains, water falls then stay in the province. Philippines is so very lucky it has so many beautiful natural places to go to although still internet is a problem but hopefully will be sorted it out very soon as people now a days are so much engaged on social media. I must say the North of the Philippines is the best worth a visit. I have visited the south Island of the Philippines and less tourists but still a lot to do, make some improvements to attract People there to go and visit. Siargao is beautiful and Camiguin parts of South Philippines 😊

Had to lower our expectations as well when fortunately we get to travel to Europe (Milan and Luzern, Australia even) as now we found out there's no perfect place. With the recent facelift and upgrades in the economy and certain cities all over the Phils, yes, pls expect also an upgrade in the cost of living. Gone are the days of merely a developing country or island life. Hello to paradise and modern metropolis.

Great video thank you so much! I am going there in few months and I was wondering how does it work with checked luggage in the flight? If I wanna book my flights in advance I cannot always choose for checked luggage (only up to 10kg's). Is this an issue or can you just buy at the airport?

I felt sorry for the spotty internet of my beloved country. It’s true when it comes to wifi you have to not expect much good about it especially if you go far from the city. It’s still trying to improve but hopefully it will be resolved soon 😅! It’s true also about the mosquitoes 🦟 when it’s raining season. Always be prepared for mosquito repellent😅. But still, it’s more fun in the Philippines 🇵🇭❤ and it’s cheaper compared to other countries. You just have to be alert. Be informed ahead! My husband and I still chose Philippines 🇵🇭

The barbecues are also full of calories. The dressing that makes it really good has lots of oil and sugar so just be aware of that.

Since the Philippines has 7,641 Islands, that means lots of Beautiful White Beaches especially in the Visayas and Mindanao Provinces, tho Luzon has a few White Beaches as well. When it comes to Hiking, Trekking, Canyoneering and Island Hopping, aside from the Visayas and Mindanao, Palawan is a must. Palawan has been Voted by many International Travel Agencies as the Best Island in the World. And Millions of Foreigners/Tourists can attest to it. The Philippines is now at the Top on International Tourism. "It's More Fun in the Philippines".

Stop with the moniker "It's more fun in the Philippines" crap. For who? When I am in the Philippines I stay away from places like Palawan. You want to be on a top list? Then deal with the crowds...like Oslob and Palawan for example. Where then do I go? I care not to say because it is secluded and I am helping keeping it that way.

@@andylee2608 It definitely is more fun in Philippines, I can have more fun in a mall than I can in virtually anywhere in SE Asia, which means more fun than like, anywhere.

@@andylee2608 To each his own, if you want secluded places buy your own Island and peace your butt out. It's more fun in the Philippines to people who love FUN, but for you 'coz you're a LONER it's more boring and disagreeable. You're so PATHETIC.

Accommodation is way too much for what you get here in PH. Glad we found Holiday Ocean view in Samal Island for only 2,500 a night, you get the condo and oceanview. Internet is not available here hahahaha PH is not suitable if you need fast internet… and the food here in Samal island is very low quality and the serving time is 1 hour up hahahaha hard to get everything you want on a holiday

Just FYI, in Bali right now is pretty cold [especially for me 😉] as it gets the winter wind from Australia from Jul until usually Sep. The coldest temperature can be around 17C at night and 25C at day time. Some little rain here and there and bit of cloudy too. I think I like this period at best 🤣

Good news for you, a lot of these problems regarding accommodation / travel expenses and etc. will be soon corrected. The Philippines has a new head of tourism secretary Christina Frasco, and she's quite possibly the best, most qualified one yet. The DOT has a masterplan in infrastructure, price regulations, etc. So expect massive changes, like real soon.

|| Accommodation. You can get affordable accommodation when you veer off from "touristy" hotels that offers "western" comfort. A basic mini hotel room will get you 300php or $6/night. You just have to do research first in each town you plan to visit to.
