I've played that game, finished it like 2times, and it isn't really bad. I even enjoyed the racing challenges. Even though I played through it at least twice, I didn't really know what's going on but damn it is fun to use his powers and get that unbreakable vengeance combo. It's kinda like gow, dmc, and mario cart all in 1.

Yeh, but the way those sport titles work is that the athletes never get compensated for having their likenesses portrayed on the games. The regulatory body, who sells the license, does.

In "The Fifth Element", the developers couldn't use the facial likeness of Bruce Willis for some costful reason. The game's protagonist look differently + they even had to cut his scenes from the in game videos that were taken from the movie. Interestingly, all the other actors are represented relatively closely in the game.

Not a face, but a voice: For the initial release of Star Trek Voyager: Elite Force (preemo shooter, by the way) all of the Voyager cast did the voices for their characters, except Jeri Ryan (Seven of Nine). IIRC there was a licensing conflict at the heart of this. This was fixed in the first patch though.

Not technically full tie in games, but tie in Chapters- Dead by Daylight has done this multiple times. Laurie Strode in the Halloween Chapter looks like a bootleg Jamie Lee Curtis, Quentin from the Nightmare on Elm Street Chapter looks nothing like Kyle Gallner, and David Tapp from the Saw Chapter looks way younger and nothing like Danny Glover. Ash vs. Evil Dead was a direct tie-in so we see Bruce Campbells likeness and even voice in game- and Netflix was really open with the Stranger Things chapter and let the team at BHVR do a lot with it. Pretty sure Netflix even gave them the CG model of the Demogorgon that they use in the show, and encouraged them to make a unique cosmetic for it.

Eh, I'm conflicted about the first one (I mean, the Avengers one)... To me, it doesn't change much that they don't look like the actors... Both the movie and the game characters would have looked better if they were not real people or trying to look like them, but if they were cartoon characters to begin with. Not really sure the Avengers game had anything to do with not being able to afford the likeness of the MCU actors who play them. Just think it's a case of that it would make zero sense for them to use the likeness of those actors. Seeing how they aren't apart of the same universe. So just would have been odd if they used those actors in the game. Also think is Marvel wanted to use their likeness for the game then they easily could have just worked that into their contracts and not have had to pay anything to use it for the game.

I would have added Reservoir Dogs to this list; the concept of the game was solid; getting to play through the heist that you don't see in the movie...What was less solid was that only two of the characters even vaguely resembled/sounded like their celluloid counterparts...The game was delayed as well, making it a little more painful than it should have been XD

That’s what I was thinking. Nobody in development of that game said a single time “This is based on the MCU films.” So of course they weren’t going to pay the actors for their likenesses.

Probably because Spiderman games have come out whether there's been a movie or not. And probably because this is obviously a sad attempt to milk the extreme popularity of the avengers in the MCU. Although, to be fair, Spiderman is also in this crap, crap game. In the PS version only. Which means the other versions cost the same but are inherently worth less.

I haven't played the Fight Club game, so Idk if this is a failure on the part of the game or OX, but Edward Norton's character is officially named Sebastian. This was not the case during the release of the movie or in the original novel, but has been retconned into the universe in Fight Club 2.

i just finished the Jurassic World game and experienced the opposite. They used chris pratt and bryce dallas howard's photos for the characters but hired a different voice actor for them. i think they blew the voice over budget for Jeff Goldblum.

It's not some odd thing that Nic Cage was Ghost Rider. He's a massive comic book fan. His real last name is Coppola. Not FF Coppala's son, but his nephew. He changed his last name to Cage bc of the character Luke Cage. And he played Johnny Blaze, not Dan Ketch. The Blaze GR was from the same time frame as Cage & other exploitation comic characters coming out. 70's Johnny Blaze shares more similarities with Cages character, while his Ghostrider was a fusion of the 70's & 90's Ghostriders.

Pretty sure avengers is not based on the mcu and not a mcu tie-in game therefore no need the actors' likeness, in fact it would weird to have the actors' likeness for the game as it would have confuse the causal mcu fan whether the game is canon
