Julie your videos are extremely helpful. First time author here, going to self publish soon. One question I had is how do you utilize resources in your books? I am writing an Information Technology book and would like to provide plenty of resources such as books, video platforms/courses, etc. It would be very helpful to know the best way to go about adding these resources. Do I need permission from authors if I am not quoting their book but offering it as a resource? Same question with websites and apps. If you already have a video on this I would appreciate being pointed to it! Thanks for everything you do!

I'm not completely sure I know what you mean about this. I have this video on writing about people: kzbin.info/www/bejne/pGjKqYyld7J8bck Not sure that is what you mean. If you're talking about affiliate links you have to be careful because there are issues with that inside of a book. You're better off referring to a resource page on your website like this: booklaunchers.com/recommended-resources/ (which I just realized needs an update!!). Inside of your book you can send people to a specific page for the resources and then they can have affiliate links. Now if you are just raving about a product or company you don't have to have their permission but it could be a reason to reach out and maybe create a cross promotional opportunity.

Excellent timing. I am building my email list right now. I have my lead magnet in place, and I can see my email list growing. I am so hopeful for my 3rd book as I am releasing it real soon, and this email list will be one of my vehicles for its promotion. I especially appreciate the knowledge around mail list hygiene. Having done a lot in my career around quality, statistics, etc., studying the data is a must! Thank you for this video. All the very best.

❤ always love your videos. I have a question, my book contains to books in one. Can I design a cover with both titles print it to showcase the first book and then change the cover to showcase the second? An example, life after death and death of a loved one. Thanks keep up the great job.

I don't have a lot of experience with this so I don't feel like I am a good person to answer. I have only ever had 2 books like that. One was a children's book and the other was a purple book ... big one ... but can't remember the name. It was a self-help book and I found it very difficult to read being two books in one.

I fail to see or understand how authenticating in this way will make a dent in spam emails or spamming activities. What it will do is make a dent in the maintaining of email lists for those whose businesses rely on them, i.e., small businesses. I find these rules suspect and I have since I first heard about them last month. They seem more like yet another way for these businesses to track people, (and potentially profit on personal information they're finding increasingly challenging to gather), than an effective spam prevention process. By all means, crack down on spamming, but make it more clear and evidence-based how adding convoluted processes like these will solve this issue. In addition, offer more support for navigating the quagmire *they've* created. For shame.

it seems very excessive to send an email per month for an author. Or atleast that this largely disadvantage smaller/ new authors

Once a month is barely enough to keep in touch with your audience. I would highly recommend you find a reason to email your readers slightly more than that!
