I never done duathlon or triathlon, well I did a team duathlon. I did the MTB part. At some point I plan to do TransFier in Romania. What's your take on it? Here is a video about it. kzbin.info/www/bejne/bJ_YgJuPltJprbc

Quite a few years ago my father, Paul Clavey completed his own personal lakesman triathlon, it comprised of a 10.5 mile length swim of Winder-mere, cycling the 112-mile Fred Whitton Challenge and finishing off with a Bob Challenge Round - the 72-mile epic fell runs that takes in 42 of Lakelands’ summits. The run section itself has 27,000ft of accent which is only 2000ft off the height of Everest. He never did much publicity for it but i am eternally proud of what he achieved. Shame not many people know about it, there are a few local articles about it if you look it up.

ok, like anyone reading and commenting on this, I have my achievements: about 120tris, 8 IMs 2 in Kona, 30 years in the surf, collegiate swimmer, 18 years in the dojo, bla bla bla. The guy who has my great respect is Gary Wang. Decades of all endurance events, low key, no ego. During the 15 years that I knew him well ( and I still do to some degree), he had a decade that included 10 double konas (what's it called? Ultraman? best was a third), 10 Western States 100s--high finishes, many other ultras. The most humble dude I've met. I can kick most of your butts, this dude is beyond. He will never mention it.

Iron cowboy just announced a race in Utah this year. 2.4 mile swim, 112 miles with over 12000' of climbing going over a summit at nearly 10,000' elevation followed by 20 miles of trail running with 7000' of vertical. I can safely say I won't be doing that one. That run at the end... Holy cow!

"There is a reason this is become home of the Ironman World Championships for the last 40 years". Doesn't Ironman simply originate from Hawaii though?
@heatherfell_oly6 жыл бұрын
Hi Krzysztof, you are correct it does originate there but they could have easily moved it or made the course more spectator friendly. It is tough for so many reasons, I promise you.
@kajet6666 жыл бұрын
Oh I've heard how tough it is. I personally cannot imagine doing even a sprint in those conditions. But you've made it :)

Have you guys looked at the AKXTRI in Alaska? It's a gnarly tri that starts resurrection bay which Temps range from 41 to 50 degrees and ends with a 27 mile run and the last 10 miles of the run you have to peak alyeska mountain twice. Over 6000ft of elevation

If this was a top 8 madrid would have gotten into the list (not because I finished nor because I’m from madrid 😛) Cold as rules allow water without shortening the course, +3300m bike climb and an incredible in town marathon make it one of a kind In my opinion as far as standard long distance triathlons go, this one is so close to the top
