Not tagging on you, but you should have gotten the husky liners! Better product all the way around. I ordered WTs on my old runner the same time my father ordered huskys for his truck. Weather techs are extremely plasticity while huskys are rubbery. They have more grip, mold to the interior better, and clean off easier and don’t stain/ fade like the WTs. When I got my new 4Runner, I went with huskys and I couldn’t be happier

Outside the battery and wheels not much else for camping upgrades. You'd be better with an actual roof rack and light bars/ditch lights for lighting up campsite/trails. Dash cam better for on road rather than off. Overall great additions to make life a lil easier though.

Which fuse did you use to hardwire the dash cam to? Does the dash cam stay on and record for a long time after the truck is turned off?

It's been a while but i think i used an empty fuse slot. I used this add a fuse kit - www.amazon.com/dp/B01N0GR4ON?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share Yes, the dash cam will stay on and continue to record indefinitely after engine is turned off.

Hi!! Where did bought the aluminum cross bars ligthweight?
Did you buy your TRD wheels direct from Toyota or online somewhere?
@campingina4wd Жыл бұрын
@jessicamarvin I checked online and found a local toyota dealer that had a set. I drove to the dealership and bought them at the parts department. I took the wheels to America's Tire and had them mount the KO2's on the TRD Pro wheels.

How come you didn’t get a trail or higher edition? Looks like a premium sr5.
@campingina4wd3 жыл бұрын
Hi Daniel, I almost bought a used trail but found this SR5. The SR5 had lower miles and better price. Price, miles, color, 4x4, certified pre-owned from Toyota dealer. It was very clean, I test drove it and liked everthing about it. I did not need the extra features. If buying today would upgrade to SR5 Premium... think it has lane assist and faux leather seats.

Hey I just got my 2014 Toyota 4Runner SR5 4x4 as well and I'm planning to build it a bit, and go either camping or overlanding early next year. What are your thoughts on a lift kit and a snorkel? I know you don't need snorkels if you go on light trails, but even then I notice giant puddles after rain and stuff. idk...
@campingina4wd5 жыл бұрын
@Donuts - For camping and overlanding I would start with a good set of all terrain tires. Take some trips and then decide if a lift and snorkel is necessary. After the tires I would consider a set of Bilstein or TRD Pro Fox shocks. The front bilstein shocks have several settings that allow lift height. For the rear I would do bilsteins and coil springs. The SR5 4x4 is very capable offroad. I have been on high clearance 4x4 only trails and have not needed a lift. A lift would be useful but not required to go camping or offroading. Thanks for watching. Appreciate your comment.
@DonutsReview5 жыл бұрын
@@campingina4wd oh nice good to hear that a lift is not that necessary. They're kind of expensive, haha. Mine still got the OEM ones on, and it's Michelin MX2 All terrains. Still got quiet a lot of tread left, I'm looking to replace them next year with the Falken Wildpeaks At3s. Looking forward to more videos man. They're awesome.

I'm thinking of buying the same racks and cargo bracket. When you added the roof rack did you notice if the cabin noise increased?
@campingina4wd4 жыл бұрын
Michael, yes I did notice the cabin noise increased a bit. I was concerned about wind noise before adding them but I found that I actually like it. i don't know... it just adds a slight bit of sound on the hwy that I like. The crossbars I bought were the light weight aluminum version. Also, I went through a drive thru car wash and the powder coating on the steel cargo stop started to chip. The crossbars are still in perfect condition after many drive thru washes. I have been very pleased with the setup.

Did you remove the running board? If so why and do you like the 4runner without it? How do you reach the roof when washing the runner? Thanks! cool vid
@campingina4wd5 жыл бұрын
This is an excellent question... thank you for asking. I did not remove them. When I bought CPO from the toyota dealer this 4runner did not have running boards. For me, it is an issue and I don't like not having them. My previous 07 4Runner had them and I really liked them. They are very useful for accessing the roof and for passengers who need to step up. I am 6.0 tall so I just stand on the ground and hold my arm up to spray the roof clean. The issue is to dry it off with a towel I have to open the rear driver and passenger doors on each side and stand on the floorboard ledge holding onto a crossbar with one hand while drying the roof with the other. That works but it is not ideal. I am adding some new items to the roof for offroad camping (Maxsa traction mats, rotopax, antennas). I may continue standing on the ledge or I may buy a small folding step ladder to leave at home for loading and unloading items before and after each trip. I take a 5 Gallon bucket on each trip that could be used to stand on in addition to the floorboard ledge if necessary. Finally, I have stood on the rear tires before to access the rear section of the roof. Next time I buy a 4Runner I will definitely have running boards included. Hope this helps.

@@campingina4wd Thanks for your answer, I'll take your advice and won't remove them, I have the tube type that hugs the Frame without dropping to much towards the ground, I see them on craigslist here and there for around 100. I have a 2015 sr5p. Are you running a slight lift or leveling kit? It seems a little taller than my stock 4runner with AT Falkens ak3w stock sized tires. Maybe the missing tube steps make your rig look higher off the ground
@campingina4wd5 жыл бұрын
@Off Grid Action - Like your setup. The premium has some nice features. If your tubes are bolted on (versus welded) you could remove them temporarily to see if you prefer the look or function without them. I wanted to add the factory stock running boards and the dealer quoted me over 600 for the parts. At some point I may look for a used factory set, some tube / nerf bar type like yours or possibly rock slider type. Would want to go with the factory running boards or aluminum tubes / sliders. Don't want to add the extra weight of steel, plus I don't do any serious rock climbing. They are useful and would like to add them at some point. Good eye and question on the lift. I have always thought my truck may have a slight lift. It seems to sit higher than stock to me. When I purchased it I briefly looked and saw no upgraded suspension, shocks, springs or spacers. This weekend I am going to take a closer look and check again. (Something I have been meaning to do). I have considered adding Bilsteins all the way around with the fronts set at either 0 or .85 and adding 1/2 to 1 inch spacers and possibly springs to the rear. Problem is I like how it is now and don't want to mess it up. Just want to have Bilsteins for offroad and to reduce nose dive when braking. When I load it with 200 - 250 pounds of camping gear it still has a slight forward factory rake which I want to keep. This weekend, I am going to take a closer look. I will check again to see if I can identify any type of lift or suspension upgrade. I will also measure all four wheel/fenders from center of wheel to bottom edge of fender. Later this weekend I will edit/update this comment with the information. // 5/12/19 Update I double checked this weekend and see no lift of suspension upgrades. Everything looks stock. Measurements from center of each wheel to bottom edge of each fender: Drivers Front - 19 3/4 inches Passenger Front - 19 7/8 inches Drivers Rear - 21 5/8 inches Passenter Rear - 22 inches

Was going to mount some leds but have not done it yet. I do notice some wind noise but it is not an issue for me. I have a third cross bar, just have not mounted it yet. @Daniel Goss - I considered a prinsu but decided to keep it simple and lightweight with the lfd bars. Lfd also has the side rails as an option to add later. Have considered adding a Plano hard plastic rifle case for extra storage mounted to the lfd bars (for recovery gear). Hope this helps.
