@david marriot - that was easily a fan fic. A well written one, but easily fiction. This is why I wish Let's Read would label his videos as 'alleged' true stories and not true stories.

Man, that "you can never quite trust....the babysitter" line cut me deep. I am a 52 year old man, but when I was younger, I used to babysit my next door neighbor's 2 boys. I was quite close to this family, and the parents knew I would take a bullet for any of them, especially the boys. It just pisses me off that the world has become what it has, where you can't trust anyone anymore. There are still those rare few of us who genuinely love our fellow man.

That does tend to happen but it is most likely to create a connection to the individual. Basically to get your imagination pumping on who they are and feeling anything for them. It is a very basic beginner writing style of telling a story even if the reader observation is meaningless.

@tiffany benefield - the #6 story is straight up BS. How does a kid act like that (shoving his kid sister down the stairs, killing the family pets, etc) and the parents not seek psychological help for the kid until after he nearly killed the babysitter? Did they think it was just a phase the kid was going to grow out of?

Onion Face While it’s definitely true that parents often don’t get their divergent kids therapy, therapy can very much help sociopaths, psychopaths and narcissists! Many other things can be wrong with this kid (whether he’s real or fictional), but if he was any of those, there are different treatment options depending on circumstance- especially at a young age.

tiffany benefield where I am from... Michael would have got his ass kicked that night. When I woke up with the knife to my throat...that would have marked the date of my trial. Michael would have had both my feet in his asshole. Period. That's what is wrong with kids today not getting their asses beat. No fear of punishment or repercussions. Thank these so called therapists...

I am curious of what Michael's parents thought. The fact that the babysitter and their family had to sue them for medical and therapy bills sounds like they were in denial. The fact that he was an endangerment to his little sister is what bothers me (I had an older brother who was physically violent towards me, going after me with knives and strangling me, all in front of my mother. She played favorites so he *easily* got away with it.). Having him committed may just have saved his life.

At this point I've watched dozens of the videos you've posted. And enjoyed the heck out of all of them. But I've got to say, the story of the girl who got roped into babysitting by her fathers boss, was one of the best narrations you've ever done. The entire thing was so tense. That at one point I realized that I had stopped drinking my coffee in mid sip and was just holding the cup. ^.^ You really do rock man. Please keep up the good work.

A truly chilling babysitting story... During the summer when I was 13, I had to look after my dad's cop buddy's four wild kids, all under the age of 8 with two of the kids still in diapers. I spent ten hours per day with those little monsters and I only got paid $2/hr. Granted, this was the early 1980's and minimum wage was less than $3/hr, but still... The plot twist in this whole thing is that today I'm an elementary school teacher and I spend my days with twenty kids. 😆 (And I love my job.)

The way these stories are written are insufferable. Feels unnatural and useless details are extremely common especially ones nobody would remember. Also feels like these are written by the same group of 2 or 3 people. Pick better sources and don't mark them as true.

Well, some of these were traumatic events for the tellers and reliving the could cause them to ramble about unimportant details as they relive the events and feel the need to include every single detail that comes to mind.

@kiara kimmons - The difference between someone recounting a real incident and one that is making one up is how much detail they feel the need to share. The more detail they add, the more likelihood that it's a fabrication (seeing as they're trying to paint a mental image for the reader to visualize).

Idk, I am the same way when recalling things I dislike. My memeory is god awful, but when something strikes me the wrong way, I remember every word, movement, expression, etc. in detail. I've also been weird about looking for subtle details that I know most people don't notice.
