The story about the kids and the homeless really disturbed me? The kids were more concerned with "not snitching" then finding their friend. It's sad. They could have maybe found Mike if they had told the police the whole story.

So glad someone commented on this. When they had the opportunity to get justice for their friend they chose to be silent. He was scared because they knew they started the war with the homeless people and would probably be held accountable at least for harassment. R.I.P Mike

The homeless guys weren't psychos, they had their lives harmed by a bunch of sadistic kids and lashed out in the only way left to them. That was their home but a recreational place for these kids.

I get that kids can be stupid and not easily admit to the wrong things they did. Joel, today has been a hard and emotional day for me because one year ago today my father passed away from lung cancer and I’ve been tearing up all day long from looking at old photos of my mom and father holding me as a baby. I grew up to be my mother’s favorite child. I miss my father so much , I’ve never gotten over my father’s death. When I became a teenager I was rebellious to my father and I wish I had not had been. I was not an only child I have 3 other brothers and I have one sister. Me being a father myself to a 3 year old son and a 7 month old daughter I want both of them to grow up and be the best they can be I want them to succeed in their lives. As always Joel thank you for your videos today they really helped me get through a hard day.

It’s been 13 years now since my father passed from a massive heart attack. The one year mark is rough. I can’t say the thought of him being gone and missing out on things will ever get easier but I promise you will get stronger as each year passes. I think we all wish we could turn back time and change things when someone so close passes away. He’s with you always.

So many of these touched me. The person who had their mom and aunt die, had horrible depression likely in the same year as I did, then gets chased by a grizzly bear AND gets lost in the wilderness (both are worst fears of mine) only to encourage others to get out there after he got saved--- I am fucking startstruck, that is amazing. I definitely won't ever go camping or hiking but that's so beautiful and poetic, because I feel some unusual form of bittersweet empowerment through it, having absolute psyche breaking presence of death all around him, everything is soot black, taken away yet he found a way to heal

Excellent narration as always. How you manage to tell such stories without ever sounding ghoulish, I just don't know. I think you have a good heart. I personally found those kids who went to war with the homeless to be quite disgusting little brats. A broken home might be hard but it's still a home, at minimum a sheltered place to lay your head. They felt entitled to use homeless people, those down to their lowest point in their lives, as entertainment, people to laugh at. The fact they desicrated these peoples only place of refuge in this world is nothing short of disgraceful. The fact that the writer left his friend out there alone to, more than possibly, pay the price cements my opinion that he is nothing but a nasty little piece of work.

Crazy crazy..... The person who lost their mom and aunt.... So did I. Mine died within 2 years of each other, and I was left alone with an alcoholic husband who drank himself to death within 10 years. I totally understand her feelings of depression and waiting to die. I have pets and they keep me going and provide me with happiness. Thanks for all the great stories! 😊
