I'm intrigued that this video is exactly four minutes, forty seconds in length. Such detail reveals a not-so-average videographer who now requires further viewing. Wait.. 2009? And the KZbin algorithm is just now populating my "recommendations" list with this?! WTF? Thank you, Pale Rider! Looking forward to what else you got.

vallanddess Seriously? With all due respect, give me a '66-'73 MOPAR ANY DAY over the stuff on the road 2day. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe this Challenger has a unibody, too. One time my friend rear-ended me. My 70 Dodge Challenger Convertible got a Scratch on the chrome bumper. The front & hood of his new Toyota truck was peeled back to his windshield! (I stopped @ the Stop sign, he obviously didn't.) MOPAR TO YOU! X💖

I had a 440 Challenger in 1973 and replaced the Goodyear poly glass tires with BF Goodrich TA Radials. At 120 mph keeping it in one lane took all my attention. I always thought it was the way the grill was set so far back it turned the front end into a giant air scoop which made the front end very unstable. So based on my personal experience, I would say if this car was really going 140 + that the driver would have to be up on the wheel working a lot harder than he is.
@66PaleRider5 жыл бұрын
Exactly for that reason I mounted a front spoiler to keep the nose down at high speeds. Together with all the suspension upgrades makes this car stable and easy to handle at those speeds.
@anthonynelson91365 жыл бұрын
To Pale Rider. Even with suspension mods and a front spoiler with that grill being set back so far the air dams up and gets trapped under the hood creating high pressure making the front end very unstable. I almost louvered the inner fenders to help with evacuating the air from under the hood but thought better of it. My Challenger was a 70 and my neighbor had a 71 that handled the same way. At any rate, I have said my piece keep the shiny side up were out.

@culcun Actually, High speed driving is exactly what this car was designed for, Richard Petty won several Nascar championships in a car very similar to that one, those cars are designed for hours of high speed driving. A slightly modified version of this car was the first to go over 200 mph in a nascar race, it was so fast that nascar had to change thier rules so that cars couldn't go as fast

And does a 440 six pack motor run like yours stock or is there a big difference in a stock one and your engine because that damn thing is very strong.

@stupidjonny You're thinking of the Charger for the Nascar racing. It was the Charger Daytona with the drooped nose and huge rear wing that was the first to crack the 200 Mph barrier in a closed circuit (technically they were "testing the transmission" that day. The Challenger did race, but only in the TransAm circuit.

@ExMxer3 Here in Atlanta, GA if you're going slow in the passing lane(s) (some highways are 6 in each direction) you're going to get passed with a vengeance. Gridlock frequently moves at 40mph+, speeds sometimes get as high as 90, even around cops.

@kowalskideahl ah, but that info you could have found in the comments as well in the labels of this video: 440 SixPack with a 4 speed ;-)
. . . this video shows that the old muscle cars of yesterday were more fit to be on a drag strip and not on a high speed highway like the autobahn. It doesn't give me a secure feeling hanging on to the spagetti thin steering wheel at 140 mph and hoping to not make any sudden lane changes. This old Dodge isn't a Grand Tourer for sure.
