eric, almost all coaches/marathoners agree that the long run at continuous mp is simply a chance to practice race day actions like fueling, hydrating, breathing, and striding through a sustained effort at race day pace. you did that. you figured out that the timing of breakfast is important and possibly that solid food (with lots of fiber) may have a lot of carbs but could cause GI issues. the collection of all of your medium long and long runs will be the biggest positive influence on your performance on race day, not the 4 MP runs in the pfitz schedule. please remember that. and please remember how hard you've been working towards your 2:4X. i am stoked to see how things play out in chicago. i know you're going to crush it. i know it in my heart! -MK
@flobergruns Жыл бұрын
You're such an awesome person, MK. Thanks for the constant encouragement - I'm sure it's frustrating watching me always make stupid decisions hahaha - I'm so ready to give it everything I have in Chicago though! I will absolutely remember how hard I've been working for this goal & take what you said here to heart. Thank you!!

Dude thanks for showing this. That 18 miles with 14 at MP were really tough for me too. It was a real hit to my confidence. It’s nice to know I’m not the only one who suffered through this workout. Taper weeks are right around the corner for Chicago!
@MarcusGoldman593 Жыл бұрын
Wow, incredible. You just gained a new subscriber. There are few athlete creators willing to document the entire process (both the good, bad and the ugly). I appreciate the openness and authenticity of your videos, and wish you the best on race day. Much love.

The runner's negotiation to get a mile you missed for whatever reason back later in the week... I felt in my core. This depicts what a high mileage week really looks like. Talking to other runners, they will loosely mention "50-60 mile weeks" or "60-70 mile weeks". Shouting out a number does not tell the story of the daily sacrifice. Nicely done!

14 miles consecutively at MP is quite a tall task. Feel like it would’ve been more manageable mentally and physically to break it into 3 x 4 miles with ~5 minutes rest in between or something. At any rate, you’re really gutting it out and I hope this translates to a good race for you.
@flobergruns Жыл бұрын
No doubt. That's what I usually do for this type of workout, but I wanted to see if I could handle it the way the book recommended, but there were a lot of variables at play. Still very happy with that workout. :) Hoping for the same! Feeling very strong mentally right now.

Some days I feel like my body is too tired and bloated but I end up setting a new PR. Other days I feel amazing and over extend myself and end up tweaking some muscle. There is always some form of guilt with both situations either at the beginning or at the end. Running is such a weird and finicky thing. But I love it and I hope I can run until the very end.
@tahlantshakaza5629 Жыл бұрын
Just to add my 2cents, I used to run a bleep test which was a requirement for national referees. When I saw you eat the bagels and banana I noticed the time and wondered how you would keep that down. We used to do a coffee and medium banana 1hour before bleep test. And I see Nick Bare does Coffee and waits to hit the toilet before heading out the door. I used to do half coffee because I was nervous for the Bleep test and most of the time was the last man standing. I think a nutritionist recommends 3 hours for meal and 1 hour for snack but obviously it varies for everyone. Love your channel, I actually get nervous watching you. :)
